    WHY dark/?

Okay, I'll admit, that defense is likely doing something for you...just...not enough.

Now me, if I was going to make a DA/ Tanker, would likely have the Steadfast +3% IO waiting for it, so I might as well grab Weave as I level up. I can always turn the power off.

But I also start slotting sets at lvl 30, with lvl 33 sets.

Being a Tanker, I wouldn't worry about DPS, so on a DA/ I'd be going for +DEF (and while I prefere to keep all the Positional Defenses Even, on a Tanker, I'd likely go with Melee/AOE and worry less about range...MAYBE), +END (Impervium Armor 4 slotted), likely get +Health along the way.

Not to mention the Fluffy alone Tanks and auto heals, AND drops the mobs ToHit even more.Your safe without taking Pool powers.

Taking Air Superiority and Acrobatics is the stupidest thing iv ever heard of when it comes to Dark Miasma.

It irritates me that people like you give such horrible advice.
While I wouldn't take them, and in fact, I wouldn't even worry about KB itself on my Dark/Sonic, as it hardly gets hit in the first place, they are useful powers in some way or another.

That said, OP, you're DARK/DP, you will have enough redraw issues with DARK/ that you don't need to add to the redraw with a power pool attack.
  3. Well, I don't see the point of them attacking the same obvious PvE'er over and over, as you need a cool down between killing the same person to even get a chance at a PvP IO recipe when you do kill them.

That said, I've gone to the PvP zones strictly for the badges. I took my risks going in.

And nothing in the PvP zones is needed by a PvE'er. At least hero side...there's nothing you can get there, that will help you in the PvE game when it comes to badges.

I think hero side has some exploration badges to obtain there...but the taking out of the Heroes/Villains gives you nothing but a badge.

That's badger vs PvP, not PvE vs PvP, and just think, there's badges for PvPing!

    Agreed!

I don't want them to take the few off the beaten path little storylines we have.

They're not all over the place. And even with GR, I don't think it will be ALL OVER THE PLACE.

Keep it end, have a little darkness thrown in.

    Yes, keep it simple.

"Tyrant and Dominatrix are in a relationship" DONE!

"Tyrant and Dominatrix are ina relationship and every night they [CENSORED....................]" TO MUCH!

I don't want to see the whole game/story become some dark twisted story that I might write. But do like the idea of having little things thrown in like that, to change it up whether it makes things darker or lighter.

Like Banded Gloves, only not so high up onthe arms. More of the think rounded part being around the wrist and attached to the glove over the hands.

Likewise, Senator Daniel Inouye (D-HI) had been promoting awareness of what happened to Japanese citizens in America during WWII. There was an older gentleman I used to know at church who was in one of the internment camps! Not something I learned about in the winner written history book I had in high school.

edit: Senator Inouye fought in the war in the US Army, got a purple heart. He was one of the winners, to be sure.
True. I had never heard of these camps for Japanese Americans, untill I met an older Japanese man, who I was doing a job for. He told me that's where he had in fact learned his job before he retired.

It shouldn't be forgotten or rewritten as never happening.

I've seen a couple, but they don't seem to be common - someone in the SFC forum posted their Spider, who instead of being Arachnos personnel, is a sort of an evil drum major, using the Arachnos mace as his baton. My Crab Spider is a Freakshow Meat Doctor with stolen Arachnos tech, and I've got an idea for a Widow who is a ninja from another planet.

    How many people do this?
I've seen this ALOT. Maybe it's just because I'm on virtue.

But I'd say I've seen more PBs/WSs who are said not to be WSs/PBs than those who have said they are in fact, what the AT is.

I do know in my SG, we have 4 Kheldians (2 of each)...RPSG, none of them follow 100% how they work in game lore.

1 PB didn't get the complete meld. His is alot more symbiotic. The human kept his identity, but does have the PB voice inside his head, basically.

1 PB that the human host that killed the PB (accidently, if memory serves, in fright as it melded) during the melding, obtaining the powers to a certain extent, but no merging of who they are, and the secret that the khledian is dead.

1 WS that has been around along while, and through those acts, has joined numerous people, and with the current host, so memories are there for multiple people, enemies still around, and mystically blocked from using the non-human forms (if I remember it all correctly)...I believe this is the only kheldian in the SG who has had it's host personality changed to be a melding between the two.

1 WS who follows the basic WS line, but didn't get the personality meld, and the human retained the normal personality.

Now, this is just currently. In the past we've had one WS RPed as a non WS. Magic, with the Drawf form RPed as a Summoning.

One WS RPed as a mutant.

    And a couple of others.

And I've seen alot just standing around as PBs RPed as angels, or energy mutants. Same with WSs.

  12. OMG! I want those wrist/ankle/neck shakcles/collars/whatever you want to call them, as costume options!

Not only that, I want them to be costume items that work with exsisting gloves/boots (I'll forgive the neck one having to be used by itself).

    You read it wrong.

Desdemona was fighting a demon and losing.

Statesman came in and saved her, but it left him wide open.

The demon took advantage of it. Statesman however helped Desdemona get the upper hand over the demon, and got control of it.

Desdemona would of never been put in the position of overpowering Statesman, if he didn't come in and save her first.
  14. In the end, it comes down to intent.

"The road to hell is paved with good intentions."

I mean lets say Rage-Man, is the type who just likes to cause destruction. On Primal Earth he's a villain, because he has no regard for others safety.

He goes to Praetorian Earth, he could easily side with either fraction.

Work with Cole, he gets to legally cause mass destruction at whoever Cole points him after.

Work with the Resistance, and he may be freeing people from an oppressor, but he's just doing it to cause destruction.

He's evil. His intention is to just cause destruction. One side allows him to do so legally.

However, I kinda think GR will be less about intent and more A & B (A: You help Resistance you're good. B: You help Loyalists you're evil).

Loyalist: We need your help stopping a Resistance Member from planting a bomb in a public building, that will kill 25 civilians.

A hero would stop the Resistance Member from planting a bomb, to save the civilians. He just did something evil however as he helped the Loyalists.

Resistance: We need your help stopping the Loyalists from taking a little girl in for mindwiping for saying "I hate Cole", and having her whole personality changed.

A hero would stop the Loyalist Member from mindwiping a civilian. He just did something good, breaking the law to do so. This one is a little more in line with Primal Earth heros however, in that they're protecting the civilian (which is what they do on Primal Earth, but the law works with them in doing so in Paragon).

I think that's what will make GR interresting. Though personally, I think we'll see alot of heroes doing stuff they wouldn't normally do, just so the players can take their hero between Paragon and the Rogue Isles.

As it looks right now...Loyalists and Resistance are less about "Good vs Evil" and more about, "What side of the war are you on?" Are you for personal freedom at the cost of less safety or are you for safety at the cost of personal freedom?

So, to decide if one is truely Good or Evil, one would have to decide when their side is in the right and when their side is in the wrong, which I don't think GR will cover at all. I think it'll be more Black & White. Help one side, evil. Help the other side, good.
  15. Nice guide. I find myself agreeing with a lot of it.

I do disagree on Willpower (w/ Tough/Weave and IOs). After IOing out my own WP/ tanker (I really should remake a WP tanker, as I stole her IOs after the EM suckage), I found you can make a WP/ who can easily take the alpha, and is still the only tank I've seen handle Towered up LR, on it's own.

Mind you I don't run STF as much as ITF, so I'm not saying others havent done it, just that I myself, haven't seen it done.

With IOs, I just find Willpower overcomes so much, and has very few weaknesses.
  16. I think you're all missing some details...

When Aurora volunteered to host Praetor Tilman's consciousness, Scott didn't believe it. His wife wouldn't have done such a thing without at least talking to him first.

See that. Reason to believe his wife wasn't even doing this willingly.

He questioned the Praetor about his wife's decision, but those questions were ignored by both Praetor Tilman and Emperor Cole. Shortly after he questioned the Emperor, Calvin found himself admitted to the Mother of Mercy Psychiatric Hospital by the Emperor's decree and placed under Tilman's personal care. Tormented by the demon wearing his wife's body, something inside Calvin--a sensation he had never really felt before--rose to the surface: a pure, burning rage.

Then there's the rest of it.

He's not looking to just get that piece of tail back. He's trying to save his wife.

His whole bio reads to me that his wife was taken against her will. And if not against her will, something more was done to her after the fact (ie...Sure I'll help you. It won't hurt my life will it? Of course not. You'll never even know I'm there. HAHAHA SUCKER! *traps her psyche deep down and takes control*).

This doesn't read to me "I got dumped. Now I'll get her back or I'll get even."

Now mind you...in good story fashion, Calvin can be put through the questions...

What if he's wrong? What if she did just change out of the blue? What then? Does he keep fighting? If so, what are his reasons for fighting now?

Right now, he's fighting to get his wife back, because he basically thinks she's been taken against her will (which could be the case).

Well, okay, works well for my concept of how the hero manipulates time.

Started out as a DB/WP Scrapper, who could see and react in bullet time (high defense...tactics) and was able to age the target of her daggers (needs a focus) at the point of contact to allow her to cut through anything (-resist procs...this explained away the daggers cutting through ANYTHING in game).

Now the same princable applies with RAD/DP...only she can focus the temoral-kinesis outward more...which RAD works nicely as.

I'm actually enjoying my RAD/DP more than my DP/Mental Blaster (same basic theory), but I think that's because I just can't get into Blasters lack of any kind of defenses outside of MORE DAMAGE FASTER!

If I could go DP/RAD/PSY hero side, id jump over to Corr in a second!

But I do like what you said someone did with DARK/. It just doesnt work for mine. :/

I'm also think he likely fought demons bound to another before as well, and then bounded them to himself, so it wouldn't work quite that way for Desdemona.

    WHY dark/?

Okay, Fire_Minded. I think you have it wrong and right.

Yes, that Dark Armor tanker running Weave ontop of all his other shields, when he has no other IOs in place...not being smart.

For a set like Dark Armor, you take Weave if you have the IO set bonuses in place to stack more defense. CoD + Weave + possibly CJ, just isn't enough Defense, to make Weave's end cost worth it.

Now running all three of those at once, with the proper IOs in place (more Defense AND END concerns taken care of), is a good thing.

However, alot of players don't understand that part. :/ I still see long time players saying "I put 6 SOs in Stamina"

And that +Defense you think doesn't matter, because some mobs have -def, is wrong. It still makes a difference. If I can feel the difference on my Katana/FA Scrapper, I bet you'll feel a difference on a Dark Armor/ Tanker.

But no. Dark Armor isn't going to be popular, it's just not as good on something as other IOed sets can be.

    Why?

Dark Armor has PSI RESIST!!! Pffft, so does WP! Shielders can soft cap positional defense and not worry about it much themselves.

Dark Armor has MEZ AURAS!!! That don't effect bosses, not all Primaries have ways to stack effects, and OMG, those other sets do great tanking without Mezzing. And face it, they suck on the ITF (and any other mez resistant enemy) and useless on AVs.

...and that's just the first few parts.

CoD, it's good for adding some defense sure (it's not much tho, and without stacking with set bonuses, it really is nothing), and for the Stealth to have any real effect, the player has to grab a Stealth IO or Super Speed (they can Tanker "stealth" a bit easier tho)...not to mention REMEMBER to turn off the aggro auras OR they may as well not be stealthing at all. But that requires, of course, retoggling.

Dark Regeneration being an ACC based END hungry heal, isn't helping people like the set either.

Not to mention Dark Armor automatically gives the "Dark/Dead/Demon/you get the point" feel to the hero who uses it as well (even with color customization).

Let's not also forget the lack of KB protection. Now personally. I think 2 KB resist IOs are easy to get. Run a few of the main TFs, and you got them! They're cheap merit IOs. Other people think OMG that still means I have to run multiple TFs. :/ Posi + Synapse + Sister Psyche I believe gives you enough for 2 KB resist IOs (but to alot of people that seems like alot of merits)

That said, I love Dark Armor! It's a great set. But I can easily see why it's not going to be very popular, even more so on a Tanker, than any other AT. In the end it's not all that great. It's just not as bad as others make it out to be either, but still...:/

Not alot of people are going to want to have multiple tanks. So they're going to be drawn to the ones who can perform better for cheaper, or just perform better.

Hell, I find Shield a terrible tanker set untill IOs are thrown in with Tough/Weave, but it also has the fun factor of Shield Charge drawing people to it.

Of course, then you see people with these amazing Shield Tankers, so everyone makes one, not realizing what makes them do amazing things is the right powers picks.

Why is my Shielder dieing? Well let me see, no Tough/Weave (weave could likely be cutout with IOs, I wouldn't lose Tough personally), and no IOs for added defense. That's why!

Of course, times like both of these (unslotted Shielders, Dark Armor Tankers...other equivalents) is when the rest of the team is suppossed to cover the tankers behind, but sadly...some of these things can't be obtained by the team at hand or not enough in some situations.

Mind you, I'm not a fan of locking things behind TFs, but locking them behind insurmountable cost is actually WORSE.

You know, I'd sooner see new costumes introduced through paid-for Booster packs than locked behind something amazingly stupid like this, and that's saying something coming from someone as stingy as I am.
I'd be happier with it, if they made the first arc (to become a member of vanguard) unlockable at lvl 1.

That way lvl 1's COULD get merits.

I'd make another shielder if I could unlock the Vanguard Shield earlier.

All they have to do, is allow that first arc to be lvl 1 (or 2). The player would still have to drop the hunt mission or have someone help them hunt to finish the arc. And I'd be okay with them saying that the hunt mission can't be dropped.

    Okay in all seriousness.

Infernal. From all standpoints, he has the experience fighting demons, and has the experience period over Desdemona (which the game will of course over look, when we see her just come into the picture and taking down heros/villains that have been around and have the experience over her )

Her fire whip is at a disadvantage. Figuring Fire or Fire/Lethal Resist, he's Fire Armor. He's capping the Fire Resist and not all that bad on Lethal Resist (more so if he took Tough, and he looks like he took tough...though totally skipped on weave).

But Desdemona has her Dark Miasma -regen in HT (he has mez protection), Twilight Grasp, darkest night...all those goodies Dark Miasma has.

So...right now (exeperience be damned)...it looks like it might go either way (remember Infernal can blast too).

    So what trumps it?

They're both their with their pets. Summoner and Summoner. 6 pets vs 6 pets.

    Infernal: *laughs*
    Desdemona: What's so funny?
Infernal: You've given me a fun ride, but it's time to stop playing.
Desdemona: Ha! We've been pretty evenly matched!
Infernal: *laughs again* It only looks that way.

*map floods with more demons than you can count*

Desdemona: *screams out in agony as the last thing you see is her hand sinking in a sea of demons*
Infernal: *looks up in the corner of the room and gives a thumbs up to the blonde, glowing blue eyed super heroine, with black X for a mask* Thanks for the advice, Brand.
BrandX: *smiles* When you cant beat em, OVERRUN their ***!

    Thusly...Infernal wins.

But much like the DC vs Marvel comic that was popular voted to decide who wins, I can see the wrong one winning in the end.
