Some ideas can be to not limit so much.
Yes, the army of buffers/debuffers was causing content to be WAY to easy, and was an exploit.
However, they could of kept it at 3 heroes before xp drops with out harm.
But I base this only on some stories have people who help you purely for story purposes (rescue hero...hero wouldnt just run away...or you get to go on an adventure with Bill & Ted!) but now people will have less xp, because of it. -
This is true. But what's the OP thinking? I think they'd sooner get rid of it than replace it.
Not only that, not all DS/ MMs are Dark Miasma.
If it still does damage, what's the problem? A PBAOE attack that does cold damage.
-
-
I'm fine with the secondary effect. So, it's a sleep. *shrug* Could have no secondary effect all.
-
Isnt it also a PBAOE damage attack? Just with a sleep mez effect, like Tankers Ice Melee.
If so, why would it change? -
Hasn't really bothered me. Nice to see some more people playing VEATS. I find them one of the most fun ATs you can play.
I've had VEATS/HEATS unlocked for quite awhile before i17 (about 3 years)...and I still haven't gotten into HEATS. Probably because PBs look the most interresting to me, but I hate the lack of mez protection in melee that have (and I dont even care about the lack of knockback, just the hold/sleep/stun). -
-
If I could mix and match just an attack set with another attack set, my concepts would go alot farther.

Quote:Well, that's what Shield Charge and Lightning Rod doOnly so long as the animation consists of disappearing from one point and reappearing next to the intended target. From what I have been told the game system does not allow for a charging animation to cross the intervening space.
>
And I'm okay with that. I'd just like to see these options for more
-
We need more of them!
They're just that fun to use!
I was a bit suprised (and disappointed) that when a 5th power in the epics was introduced that none of the electricity/mu epics gave Lightning Rod for instance.
And some single target oriented teleporting attacks would be pretty awesome as well! -
I think it'll come down to this when GR hits (because it's how it'll work for me)...
BrandX: Team looking for Buffer/Debuffer.
Buffer/Debuffer: ME!!!!!!!!
<invite sent>

Of course, I usually just say lf1m and roll with it. But my mains tend to be buffer/debuffers...soooo...I can get away with it
>_> Waaaaait a minute. Why have I stopped playing my scrappers so much.
-
Quote:Because you haven't played with my DS/DM^ This basically. Except I played my Plant/Emp during the City of Neo.
Mainly because if there are loads of one type of a character running about you tend to get invited to PuGs easier if you aren't them (especially in the case of MMs). So I've mostly stuck to my Ice/Psi Domi who tends to work well with the demonic horde. I would like to know why so many Demon MMs are big scardie-cats though, half the time I'm the one opening combat.
I've also started a Widow who is late teens, but she gets a team handily anyway since you rarely have too many SoAs.
I'm always willing to run in first and keep on moving.
The others are scared of debt.

Quote:Same! Loving the Demon/Dark combo.I have a level 28 DS/Dark right now, and I'm really happy with her performance in PvE. I took Dark purely because of Tar Patch and Dark Servant.
Personally, I'm a Mastermind newbie; and I'm finding Dark to be a nice, 'easy-mode' set that let's me enjoy watching my pets wreck things to shreds while I worry about whippin' things instead of me constantly flailing around and trying to buff stuff.
-
Quote:I didnt have this problem on all MM teams.Yeah this is my only issue with there being a surfiet of DS vills right now - the big ones are SO BIG - you put more than 3 or 4 in a tunnel or tight hallway and forget about moving around, targeting what you want to target, or even following the battle.
This weekend I spent half a battle standing on someone's head in a cave - jumped up there to target a specific baddie and *couldn't get down* it was so crowded.
But as long as you don't mind fightin' blind, tons o' demons are pretty unstoppable! -

Quote:True. this is why my DP/MM doesn't get played. I feel only /Arctic Mastery works well with Blasters for survivability (again...it's imo and based solely on my playstyle). Why I don't play her. :/Ahh, good 'ole Occams' razor.
Yep, that'd do the trick, alright.
I'm honestly not that surprised that not all people have concepts for their epic/patron powers. Likewise, it doesn't bother me too much when others have mismatched powers / concepts. The only time things like that bug me is when it happens to my characters.
(It's also why some of my characters haven't been played / respecced in ages. I feel like the powers I could/should respec out of for more potential are pivitol to their concept. For example, my BS/Regen is still using SOs/HOs, no MoG, but 3 powers from the Dark Epic and Assault/Tactics. I could make her a lot stronger, but I don't want to make the sacrifices necessary to do so. So she's been benched... that and I'm not that great at playing with the new Regen.)
(Unrelated tangent: While looking up the correct spelling for Occam's razor, I found Newton's Flaming Laser Sword. I'm now snickering like an idiot at work.) -
Heh...someone disapproved of my DS/DM summoning nightmares instead of actual demons? I thought it was a rather good idea instead of going the demon route.
Even went the Jubilee/Witchblade route of doing hero stuff in whatever you were wearing at the time. -
Quote:Easy. I ask. I've found alot don't.Just out of curiosity, how do you know who has / hasn't put some thought into their epic/patron choices? The only way you can really judge if someone has justified it in game is by reading their bio... if they filled it in. I know I'm terrible at writing bios for my in game characters, but that doesn't mean I haven't thought about their choices.
I don't get all "omg you suck" about it or anything. And like was said (and I agree with), the Mace Mastery Shield is pretty easy to fit into concepts, as it really isn't much of anything.
/Arctic Mastery becomes a little harder. -
Quote:I'm enjoying DS/DM, and I can say, for /DM anyways (imo), it's better to put Hell on Earth off, instead of taking it at lvl 18.So this past Saturday Morning I decided it was time to start-up a Demon Summoning MM. I went with Dem/TrkArrow. I have to say, after watching others with there Demons running around going rampant, I knew I had to start one up and see what all the fuss was about. So far, I am loving the effects of these guys. Especially when you summon them up from the gates of Hell!..hehe.
Well, as of this morning (Monday) I got her up to level 16 and have the two Demonlings and one Demon. After looking at Paragonwiki, they didn't have the descriptions yet as to what all theses powers do. I already have a level 50 MM Bots/Traps. It seems the set-up here is almost the same for a total of 5 pets? I put a question mark there because based on what the icons describe, it shows "Hell on Earth" with 4 pets on the button. I am not sure what "Hell on Earth" does? Not sure if this is an added power to the Demons or a separate group of small pets?
If anyone has the breakdown on what all these powers do, it would be nice to have until wiki can update their end.
It's a fun power, it's a useful power, but /DM has more useful powers that (again imo) are better to grab before HoE.
I'd probably say the same is true for alot of the other secondaries as well. -
My goal is to tank/solo AVs with this build. I THINK I have it with this build.
Lash is taken just for the fun factor
Howling Twilight I would of liked to have gotten up to more uptime (and I may have to slot differently for AV soloing purposes), and I'm not quite sure if I need more +RCH on the build or if the low damage on Tier 1 pets will be a factor. With the high debuffs and high defenses though. It may just work.

Quote:This is true. Mace Mastery is an easy one to avoid the Mace part onAhh yes. Being the dirty min/maxer that I am, I often have to make 'alterations' to my concept to fit in what I need to make a power work. I consider it an interesting mental exercise, at any rate.
A mace is hard to fit, however. Thankfully we can just take the Scorpion Shield and gtfo of the rest of the set.
And really it comes more to me seeing /Arctic Mastery on blasters more than anything. But there's no denying how great it can be on a blaster...Defense, a heal and hibernate.
It would probably bother me less if people took some effort into figuring a way for the set to fit their concept.
Though, I find it more of a mental excersice to pick the concept powers, and THEN min/max the build through IOs.
Though that's not true min/maxing. -
Quote:Same. At leavel 49, I have every intention of turning off XP, and going hero side with her.on the upside, this indicates that gr's presales are going pretty well, dosen't it? and yes, i have one as well, but she is wearing white and red, consciously trying to make her look more businesslike, of course she is going rogue to hero as soon as gr hits, it fits her backstory(she is also my first concept transfer from co, just as i have rian and a space robot 5 there, now im bringing some of my chars from there to be re imagined here)

Lvl 10, 20, 30, 40 villain badges and lvl 50, Hero of the City!
It fits with her concept and backstory, she's not really villainous at all.
-
Quote:Buccaneer Hat (she becomes a pirate), Cyber arm (cyborg)...though this looses the ability to use the shirt option, so could be why it wasn't done...throw in that she's a vampire or a succubus...there's so many cliches left to be added!Proud to say that my DS/Pain is not dressed in red and black with demon wings.
Instead, she's in full-on schoolgirl attire complete with plaid pleated skirt, all colored red and WHITE. Oh, and she's a catgirl, with animated tail. And white angel wings.
Trying to think of some more cliches I can add in. Ooh, she can be an orphan too, will add that to the bio.
Oh! You can make her emo too! -
Quote:I noted this to my SG in our global channel, as I played my DS...You'll see more costume variety later too, once more people start going beyond the "default" DS look - just like how now you see lots of DPs without trenchcoats

...one of my main's two sisters (triplets), the only difference is their hair color.
Everyone else I've teamed with with a DS/ MM looked like a demon/succubus or wore lots of black/red/possibly a 3rd color (thought I ran into one at a trainer who wore black/blue). But all looked to have a dark motiff.
Technically, I guess mine could be considered a demon, being kitsune (yes, ears are hidden in this screenie)...but she doesn't look it

Quote:Wouldn't it be easier than that? You know... JUST that would go a long way towards making the game much less head-slappingly silly. I've lost count of all the times when I'm on official Arachnos business sent to save an Arachnos base from hostile incursion, and I have to fight EVERY DAMN ARACHNOS SOLDIER ON THE WAY THERE! Why? They hired me, why do I have to kill their guards to get there? I know there are a ton of crap excuses for it, but come on now!
Just imagine this: Arachnos soldiers in the overworld would never attack you, either at all or unless you walked to, like, within five feet of them. You can walk around their forts without a problem as long as you don't approach them, you can walk the streets without them attacking you, and basically they wouldn't be just like the Skulls and the Snakes. Of course, if you SHOOT them, they'll shoot you back, but they wouldn't attack you on sight for no reason.
This is actually technically possible. You know how everyone in Safeguard missions has a large aggro radius? So make Arachnos soldiers in the overworld have a very small aggro radius, like 2-5 feet. You basically have to bump into one for him to give you trouble.
That'd actually make them feel a lot like the Combine soldiers in Half-Life 2. They do sit around looking for people to harass, but they won't chase Gordon on sight, at least not on first. But if you approach one, he'll give you a thwack on the head without a second thought. That's what I want Arachnos soldiers to be - hostile and dangerous, but not petty enough to chase every villain minding his own business.
I can swear it was mentioned in the Dual Pistol, con video, that in Praetoria, the clockwork won't attack you, unless you attack them first.
Also while we're at it, can make it so when someone tries to pull, they bring the room and not just one tagret?
*BLAM!* Oh no everyone. I've been shot! I better go check it out.
Sure. Sure buddy. Come tell us if you find the person who did it.
Okay! *runs off*
