  1. As a matter of interest, how do you perceive people will try and spoil it? If they turn up and just fight, that's fine as we want as much variety in killing blows as possible; however I can imagine that one or two of the usual imbalanced builds might make it a little one sided, but if we have enough players that may cancel out in turn. Sal suggested we pair everyone up into teams of two as they arrive to try and increase kill-credit chances too... but can you foresee any problems outside of that?

    As to what it's for, well just as much badge progress for everyone who wanders by as we can reach... where they draw the line is up to their personal tastes, but as for me I just want to get achieve that little bit more left undone on my courageous cow; he's already done every last mission hero side, and all the Task Forces, and got most of the badges... but the PvP ones still elude him
  2. Well, I was speaking to the infamous Sal last night, and he recommended we set it up in Warburg, where heroes etc can fight each other too; there's also other badges to work on if you get caught with target downtime. If we can get enough people to come, and log some alts out there (badges for day jobs too!) we should be able to make a strong go of it.

    I'm thinking of trying to set one up this weekend some time to at least get the idea rolling; I presume most people are on GMT or close to it time, and possibly mid to late afternoon...? What times would everyone think would be best for them?

    I'll pop into CoH to scout out some locations in Warburg for it before bed, but right now I'm editing videos; I was very briefly on BBC News at 10pm yesterday See if you can spot me :P
  3. Hello all,

    Well after my first week back in CoX after a Christmas gift, and after blitzing through the content I'd not yet seen, I've found that I don't really have any achievable goals with the game again; hence I'm putting this post up with the idea of thrashing out if we can make some of the impossible achievable as a group effort. In particular, I'm thinking of the PvP reputation badges.

    As it currently stands, my understanding is that there is a limitation on how many times you can kill someone to gain Reputation Points towards badge progress; What I was wondering was, has anyone done the mathematics to work out what sort of structure we would need, and how many willing participants, to ensure that if we set up a badging event regularly, we could all wail on each other to get the necessary progress?

    Furthermore, is it account or merely character based? If it's character based, what we could do is bring all our alts along too, to share the progress by giving constant new targets for each other... it would require a certain core of unselfish people, but I don't mind putting aside some time every weekend myself to aid in this... as it is, PvP is still too broken and spec-rather-than-talent based to see how I'm going to achieve any badge progress any other way, and I'd be glad to help others who may be stuck the same way.

    So... do we think we can set up a specific time and place for a mass rumble?
  4. I've only really got one badger, and he's only really doing well because I played from not long after the U.S. launch, so they just sort of piled up from the start and behind the scenes... then badges came out as I was starting to get bored (and debt was huge in those days) so I took time out to just idly collect things... then I came home to Europe... anyway, long story short, The Bovine-Avenger has 561 at the moment, and isn't likely to break 570 methinks due to running out of likely targets. But we'll see... I've 6 months of free time thanks to an xmas gift, so every now and then I'll pop on and grind some more!
  5. Ok, it's starting to make more sense now... IOs have ED, but Sets are limited to 5x of the individual bonuses. Is it a coincidence though that you are suggested (and in the spec when opened in the corresponding program) that none of the figures are for L50 IOs or sets? Is there some other cap, or a clash of figures that I should be aware of?
  6. (He he... hello again Golden Girl!)

    Ok, just to clarify, you are talking about sets and set bonuses, which you slotted a potential character build with fully I noticed, does this also apply to Invention Origin enhancements, which you slotted none of?

    Most of the webpages I looked at, and how I vaguely remember it used to work was each successive IO slotted would reduce efficiency for the next of the same type within that power... At present as you can see, I'd just slotted some with 6x the same power, and was looking at fiddling with that as a way of pushing character development. Has this changed for ALL enhancements now, or do Set pieces have the 5 rule applied instead whilst IOs still get the diminishing returns? Or is there none of that in PvE zones at all for both sets and IOs now?

    Secondly, you said "This will take you to the cap for 5% rech bonuses", but did you mean 5 (numerical total) bonuses there? So you get five of the same type and numerical value bonus, rather than there being a cap on the total percentage of combined bonus you can get?

    It's going to take a fair whack of money methinks to get close to slotting so many set pieces looking at current auction prices, and I want to try some of the powers you recommended, as some I've tried but didn't like under Issue 11, some I've never bothered with... I suspect I'll need a few intermediate steps as I slowly get the powers I need, and try to avoid wasting all the currently slotted IOs. Earning Respecs ahoy then methinks. How are people handling this amount of slotting on their high end characters these days though?
  7. Firstly, thanks for the effort you put in; I placed this thread into Inventions though because I'm more interested in learning how they actually work... in particular where the cut-off line for stacking the same type of invention is, as I found the numbers very confusing. I'm going to open the program you mentioned and then the build spec in it and spend some time looking over it to see if I can get a grasp on the logic behind it... in the meantime, HAPPY NEW YEAR!
  8. Hello all;

    Thanks to a Christmas gift of a friend who still plays CoX, I've got 6 free months of play to use... I'd been clean of MMORPGs for nearly a year too, damnit! But CoX is still somewhat fun, so I'll no doubt be popping in for a while at least whilst I can; and one of the things I'd like to occasionally work on is further perfecting my beloved Cow. However, I have to admit I'm a little confused by all the possible slotting options. Here's what he currently has, and although I don't plan on changing the powers that much (Cows just have to throw their cold milk about y'know) I'd be interested in hearing what you could suggest (including respec for slot numbers) for increasing the powers' efficiency?

    SO THEN! That's where all the important slots are set at the moment... any suggestions?

    Coming up next... how to slot a Thugs/Mastermind! :P Although I'll research that myself, it's the understanding of the numbers that I have difficulty visualizing, so if we can thrash out the moo, I'll hopefully pick it up for the rest of my characters as well!
  9. Bovine_Avenger

    Shadow Shard TFs

    I'd just like to thank Ohrt for organising these, and all those who've come along with me for one; excellent teams one and all, and thanks to you guys, I've now done every task force Hero side. Moo hoo!
  10. Bovine_Avenger

    Shadow Shard TFs

    And this is the last one I need, so I shall be honored to once more go unto the breach with you orht!
  11. I'd probably be in for double XP weekend too, I shall keep my's open on Saturday then!
  12. Ahhh yes, double xp weekend... the 23rd for the second sounds fine to me then! Also, I'd remind everyone to stay in "Union Badgehunters" in case an ad-hoc one turns up; I tried setting one up recently, and we got to 6 players before waiting another hour, then everyone gave up... moo hoo
  13. Well chaps, what times are you free, and we shall see who we can rustle up
  14. Just the above three are the only content I've yet to see hero side (well, apart from the Rescuer badge), and I was wondering if anyone wants to organise them so I can? I've been watching for nearly two months in Union Badgehunters, and apparently these aren't popular ones

    I can pretty much make any time, so sign up here if you fancy 'em!
  15. Dont worry about it; we waited a fair while in the hopes you were coming back, but what ultimately killed it was not so much your absence as that people were getting tired, and after a few attempts we were getting all 3 bosses on every pull, so it would probably have cocked up even where you there. As it was, you missed the huge debt-fest only, as we tried all kinds of things to progress... little tip, STFans the Longbow on the boat don't defend themselves, only the turrets do, and the villains beat those easily. Bah!
  16. I came, I saw, I held... and got a Dam/Acc Hamio! Moo hoo! See you all sunday hopefully
  17. Hi all;
    FINALLY hit 50 after playing for a little while at release, and then moving on... but I'm back now, and I'd really like to see Hami tonight. Can you give me a quick run through as to what a newbie Ice Cold Milk blasting Cow should do to prepare. Costume as listed at the start, yes? And what else?
