Agreed...they are clunky and poorly designed. The sad part is that LOTRO uses the same format for it's forums, but they are so much better to get around in. And I am not saying that as a comparison of the two games, I am simply saying that seeing this version of this boards has not been overly good for CoH in terms of things.

They spent 2 years talking about this forum switch and now that it has happened....epic fail. Should of stayed on the old boards.

Could also be these boards suck for the most part.

You would be quite surprised how civil most convo's are in voice. Yes there are times of wildness and joking and carrying on....but most people who team together regularly rarely gets too far out of line.

Speaking from some experience since LOTRO has a built in chat system in place...

This is a very good thing for CoX and long overdue. TF's would be easier to run because of increased communication. Hamidon raiding could still use a vent server for communication. (HEY NCNC - how bout a raid UI now?)

My only gripe is it took them long enough.

Actually I blame NC for the lack of marketing on this game for the last 3 years. Then I blame the Devs for not putting out more of the good stuff in the last year and a half. Finally I do saddle some blame on the current forume regime simply because I don't like someone begging me to give them a chance and then smacking down the forums because we violated a rule on this or that.

Fine...he is the messenger...but as the Community Relations guy...it is HIS duty to figure out what we are clamoring for. It is HIS duty to put us at ease. It is HIS duty to be our voice to NC and to Cryptic in these matters.

Instead...he tells us what we are going to get. He stirs up more than he places at ease. And he voices what Cryptic and NC want us to hear.

Is he Cuppa or Cricket? No. Is he Bridger? No.

He is a new beast that I think likes hearing himself talk more than listening to the concerns of the community and addressing us on those issues.

I applaude the attempt to fix a PR problem with the fan-art. I just disagree with how it was handled. He posted it and then tried to sell us on how good they are...without attempting to poll the community.

The only problem with making like a CoP trial is....


THEY HAVEN'T FIXED THE CoP TRIAL SINCE IT WAS PROMISED IN ISSUE 6 AS A BOX FEATURE FOR CoV.

Somehow...I don't think you folks would ever see a Hami raid if that was the case.

They are trying nothing. They are giving themselves an out so they don't have to "officially" deal with it.

Snarky or not...I'm glad you folks found a venue already. I disagree with Lighthouse pimping other services because the Marketing Department is defunct and they can't provide the services themselves.

I think it's another dropped ball issue.

Besides covering a bunch of games, hosting a ton of game downloads and providing user community tools they also allow very easy to use uploading of images. Ok, so why you may ask, am I plugging them? Well it has nothing to do with the fact that I think they are a swell bunch of guys. Rather, we can see that the services they offer are pretty nice as a platform for showing off your artwork. While I’d love for us to be offering similar services here on the City of Heroes and Villains websites, the legal issues surrounding it make it prohibitive. So, our thinking goes, why not work with an affiliate site like Curse and spread the word of functionality they have to offer.

So, check them out and let me know what you think!
