Huh. Good for her I guess.

Quote:The 4 Patrons send you to 4 different points in the same future. The whole scenario still plays out the same way, the only variable is at which point your past self arrives.No. Because that doesn't happen in all version, but more than that, because the whole game bills the guy as the person to follow. Even after having beaten him, it STILL has you serve him in the Recluse SF.
Like I said, the original plotline may or may not have been conceived as you describe, but this most certainly fell through the cracks when it came time to actually make missions for City of Villains. It may sound like splitting hairs, but this IS the kind of tone all of City of Villains has.
And besides, Time After Time is little more than (a very much appreciated) ego stroke. It'd be believable that half of his followers defected to me even if they were mindlessly devoted to him.
The Recluse Strike Force also KILLS Ms Liberty, who is since seen meddling with gusto, so, maybe take it with a grain of salt.
Also, we agree that you may in fact be splitting hairs. -

I have never seen anyone with more than 2 red bars. Including some I know who actively farm -rep.
-
Not as much as you think. I'm maxed out, but I can't reduce or increase another poster as much as a single bubble in 24 hours. And the forums are set up so that you can't rep the same poster too often. Sort of.
-
Yeah see, we both have 5 bright bars. I think bar 6 and after is just naturally dark for some reason.
-
I always assumed that after so many bars they just switched colors. Everyone with high rep is like that. Nobody is bright green all the way through.

Quote:Would have been hillarious if it lead you into a bonfire and stopped moving.I still had about 30 seconds left when I found him, so I figured, what the hell.
On a somewhat humorous note, I did get lost halfway through, but my step father who was playing the mission with me had his Will o' Wisp vet reward pet out which I saw float by me as it was trying to catch up to him. Naturally I followed it and found my way out.
So yeah, screw you mythology. -
It's probably just more likely that he took it off once he outed himself.

Quote:I know. It's like stealing a painting and then putting a picture of it outside your house.I'm of the opinion that if somebody leaves and exploit mission up for everybody to play then the person deserves a perma ban, just for being stupid.
I mean how hard is it to make your little exploit mission, tell as few people as possible(if anybody) and unpublish it when you are done with your runs? I just don't get the people that leave those things up. -
It doesn't occur to you that Recluse is this way so that ultimately, in Time After Time, it's believable that half of Arachnos would defect to follow you?
-
Quote:That's not so much a theory as it is an undeniable fact. It's worked out for Recluse thus far because, as one of maybe 2 Incarnates active on Earth, he's pretty much invincible to the rest of the organization.I have a pet theory that "leader of Arachnos" is merely the title awarded to whoever scrambles to the top of the heap, and Arachnos itself runs on its own momentum. This would also be a satisfactory explanation for why a villain wouldn't want to "take over Arachnos" - it's just a way to make yourself a target for the next ambitious thug.
The events of Time After Time notwithstanding. -
Except that it's not his vision really. Arachnos was practicing those policies before he took over. He's merely kept them in place and even stepped them up.

I was a Broadsword/Ninjitsu guy and my clone was Spines/Regen I think. He tanked Ajax while I ran around tripping the glowies.

Quote:Your points are reasonable, but I can't really follow any conversation where I need to keep all of those downsides in mind so often. It's just too much to ask of any subject. And honestly, even if half of the posts in this thread are GG, this thread would be far less than half as long without her presence. She provokes responses.
The downside is that she's not a very good gauge of what constitutes a convincing argument, because A) she has no particular interest in facts, knowledge, or experience, and B) nothing changes her mind, ever. But once you keep this in mind, it's all good.
Now, a bit more on the topic. It's clearly the case that neither heroes nor villains can win in the sense of creating a change so great it affects the shared world. But in fact, heroes fail all the time - not just in the sense of impermanent change, but canonically. Countess Crey lawyers up and walks away. Villains are thrown in the Zig, only to break right out again. Blue Steel swoops in and saves the day when you can't. Plots are foiled, but the plotters escape. Player villains would like to be afforded the same courtesy: to plot, and fail, and escape.
And in reply to your on topic discourse; I don't have much of a problem with the existing villain arcs. Not as much as other people do. I made my expectations of villain content in terms of evil known earlier in the thread, before they were drowned out behind a tide of winking nonsense. But these 2 new ones are certainly better. -
Oh yeah. Dean has a charm all his own. At first I thought I was going to have to hurt him, but when I found his file, just the way he dealt with it, I really came around on him.
-
That's my point as well. It's not personal, but there's a reason I don't comment on the STF. I've never done it, and I know I'm not conversant in it. This thread is the same way.

Certainly no time to stop for a chat!

Quote:Oh Reginald.....It's worth reiterating that no opinions expressed here need to be refuted or even addressed in order for change for the better to happen. Prolific posting does not make anyone important - far from it, in fact.
Edited to add: If someone says something so wrong that it motivates a better-informed person to post a thorough and well-considered counterargument, that is worthwhile, even if the wrong person goes on being blithely wrong.
But anyway, that's just it, it's hard for me to take the entire discussion seriously, (for lack of a better word) when every other post is from someoene who, regardless of post history mind you, really has no idea about the subject matter. -
-
That's my point. There is a lot of interesting conversation happening but there's also one person who knows next to nothing about the topic who keeps chiming in.

Quote:I have an AR/Kin in range. Howitzer. He's the type he would both want to save his clone and rob a bank.Save the clone and then rob the bank. What happens next will devastate you.
I'm actually thinking of taking my character from Villain to Rogue specifically due to that result.
Simon didn't see the point. He already got all of Protean's money nice and legally. Why bother at that point with robbing the place, which would probably force me to butcher all present, when they had more or less been cooperative with my demands? -
What part of "Villains only" was so hard to understand?
-
I ran this arc on Simon Saize my Broadsword/Ninjitsu Stalker, because he was the closest character I had in range to get experience from it. What a wild and fun ride it was.
Since escaping from the Lost, Simon doesn't really have much empathy. A thing like high fiving is a totally alien expression to him. I told Dean there was no way I was ever going to do that.
I might have saved my clone, but Protean really beat the everloving tar out of me, and I was legitimately concerned that I might die from the environmental fire damage. I saw my clone there begging for help, but I did the truly villainous thing and saved my own hide without even missing a step.
I'll have to run it again to explore the other options.
