  1. Aid Self gives you resistance to Disorient. And Health resists Sleep. Although resists arent protection.

Sure then give blaster mez protection also.

Yeah, its called "Pool powers", ever hear of them?

Part of the problem here is that people are playing poorly against blappers. Blappers are all about front-end damage. If you survive their alpha, you should be able to get an advantage against them every second you stay alive. I've PvP's with my ice/en mostly in Siren's, but I can't imagine how I'd take on a regen scrapper, for example. If they turn on IH, for example, I have NO WAY to kill them, period, until it ends. My damage is simply not high enough to overcome their hp, and after BU+aim wear off, it's a totaly joke. Against an enemy with a click defense power, again, I'm screwed. Elude, MoG, Unstoppable are all the end of me.

In fact, any heal sort of wrecks me. Once BU+aim are gone, my damage is not so impressive any more. We get one shotted by stalkers, one and two shotted by scrappers, and overcoming the defenses of a brute is a task, let alone a tank which is hopeless.

I do think *certain* blapping powers are overpowered as toggle droppers. As much as I love it, Bonesmasher feels abusive, frankly. But that's already being nerfed in I7, no?

At this point, no one should be even considering any sort of nerfing of blasters or blapping until significant I7 data is in.

Keep in mind also that level is an important thing. Blaster's high end powers don't really make a huge difference in PvP. You can have Bonesmasher, Energy Punch, BU+aim all by like L10 or L12, and that's all you need to be REALLY dangerous. At the high end, you're getting stuff like nukes that is useless in PvP (while scrappers are getting headsplitter), and at best you get the marginal Total Focus while scrappers are getting stuff like MoG and Unstoppable. (And if you're not /EM, then you are getting crap like hot feet)

    [/ QUOTE ]

Most pvpers know how to handle blasters. The problem is that most good blasters ONLY go near their target when BU and AIM are up. They jump in with a quick string of toggle drop atts and joust away with hi powered ranged attacks for the finish. The rest of the time theyll run for the hills in PFF like a Mexican jumping bean on crack. This applies to arena and pvp zones. Now if you dont have a way of stopping an opponent like this dead in their track during that 5 secs of burst dmg, then your in trouble.

Black Scourge: Do you actually post anything other than "nerf" suggestions? Just wondering because it seems to be all I see from you.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Hehehe, Hence the name "Black_Scourge". No j/k, if you did a post search or "Find all posts of user" you'll see the only nerfs I call for are ludicrist ones like stacking Vengeance, and any variation of powers that end pvp in 2-3 hits. I like the whole "dancing" aspect of pvp, not the FPS style. Most of what Ive ever called for is better/cooler content to be introduced.
  5. [ QUOTE ]
Wait, you want them to give toggle dropping a 5% change AND lower blaster melee damage

    [/ QUOTE ]

Only for their secondaries, yes I would like that.

    [ QUOTE ]
Unresistable damage, does that matter to a regen scrapper?

    [/ QUOTE ]

Only to Resilence and possibly Tough, if they have if. I dont wanna get into a regen issue, I'm dealing with this right now. But it affects every other dmg resistance set in the game.

    [ QUOTE ]
Blasters do take more risk being in melee, hell BS your scrapper has two toggles that as soon as lucas blaster gets into melee with he would be mezzed (feared or stunned) so just to geting near the scrapper the blaster has to have a break free running.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Not my scrapper, mezzes are a joke on pvp unless you toggle drop mezz protection or your a 'troller/Dom. I didnt bother with OG or CoF specifically b/c of toggle droppers. And that BF does help me reset all my toggles faster. While im resetting toggles, running for my life, I'm having a blaster have a field day with me, with their UBAR burst dmg, lol.

    [ QUOTE ]
Lucas scrapper has NEVER lost to a blaster. Ever.

    [/ QUOTE ]

I know a few Blasters who would love to contest that statement, interested?
  6. Na just looking for overall balance, that's all.....
  7. And you know the real issue hear is that its mainly the Energy and Electric melee blaster that are causing this problem. So folks will say, "well what about the rest of use that dont play those sets, its not fair to the rest of us if blasters get nerfed?"

Well 99% of the time the only 2ndry sets I see in any pvp format are EM and Electric. So if everybody is playing them, then the sets are broken.
  8. [ QUOTE ]
This is the one part that is confusing me about _Castle_'s post. Why even give us toggles if we should pretend that we dont have them. Is that the point of being a melee toon is that you have a status protection toggle since you spend most of your time in melee range.

Yes Yes. i understande that toggles will be dropped at some point. I am not talking about that. Since we are melee toons shouldnt those toggles at least give us a little help at least thinking they are providing some kind of protecton instead of us pretending it does?

    [/ QUOTE ]

Thats my biggest problem. With toggle drops, mezzes that smack ya after the toggle is dropped, and all that unresisted dmg, Scrappers risk MORE than Blasters going into melee. Whats the point in having 2ndry powers if in one cycle of attacks they are all ignored? Meanwhile, blasters secondaies are more effective then our primary set. That math look right?

So heres the deal, blaster vs scrapper:

*Blaster ignores most of a scrappers defensive power thru unreisted dmg, toggle drops, and mezzes that land after toggle drops, making Scrapper 2ndaries "paper shields", and mostly ineffective during fighting.

*Blasters do more burst dmg and DPS than scrappers in melee, making our melee inferior to theirs

    * Blasters have range attacks so they can kite us if they chose to, we scrappers have limited ranged attack if any at all

I really hope toggle dropping is reduced to what scrapper criticals are.....5%. My Spines/DA scrapper avoids getting into melee with EM and Electric like the plauge. I have the option to with my ranged attacks but I hate to think how much worse it would be if I was pure melee. Nobody sees something wrong with this picture?

What the "risk" to them going into melee with squishies?

    [/ QUOTE ]
    Location powers.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Hehe, Peritus, how many toons do you play with location powers? Hehe, we all know targeted AOE's are a joke in pvp.
  10. Ill take 33% unresisted dmg with 100% of my attack opposed to 100% extra dmg 5% of the time. The .25 mod for scrappers are resisted.

No matter what justifications there are with toggles, protections, and dmg types, the bottom line is a blappers with totally wreck a scrapper toe to toe in melee. And if these are the factors that make blasters better at melee, dontcha think it needs fixing? Is nerfing toggle dropping enough?
  11. I hate to say it, but your comments didnt address anything I said. We know Blasters are the dmg dealers, and in no way do it effect theyre overall dmg output if their dmg was less then scrappers in melee. They would still be the best dmg dealers in the game. So now answer my question, whats the trade off to over half the other ATs in the game for doing more dmg than scrappers? What the "risk" to them going into melee with squishies?
  12. [ QUOTE ]
I'm all for it, it would'nt really diminish an Ice/EM's ability, just make it harder to play. People seem to forget the reason that /EM is so good is conserver power and boost range, not bone smasher and total focus.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Unlimited end and buffed kiting ability definately put the set over the top, but lets not forget power boost too. The trifecta of doom.
  13. Hehe, yeah thats why I said "most".
  14. [ QUOTE ]
    [ QUOTE ]
A blaster's melee damage was lower than a scrappers, for the most part? So Blapper's dont out scrap, scrappers.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Blasters need a reason to take the risk and go into melee. f their melee attacks dealt less damage then a scrappers, they would have zero reason to use any of those powers.

    [/ QUOTE ]

A risk? Excuse me but something tells me there more than one AT in the whole game a blapper can go into melee with, *without* being in hi risk.

Yes a blapper should risk going into melee with scrappers, brutes, and to a lesser extent tanks and stalkers. They shouldnt have any advantage going into melee with these folks at all. Only to finish them off after tearing them up with ranged attacks.

But do you forget about defenders, controllers, corruptors, dominators, and MMs? What EXACTLY is the risk going into melee with all those folks? Seriously, whats the trade-off here?

The point is this. For Scrappers and Brutes, their primary function is melee. Nobody in the game should be able to out perform these folks and their defining role. Melee is a 2ndry for blasters. Sorry there's a reason that most 'troller 2ndries arent as effective as Defender primaries. The same should apply here too.

I dont know. The reason I bring this up is bc I was on test yesterday in the arena. I was watching EM blappers totally desimate a Broadsword scrapper in melee over and over and over again, dueing. It was just sad to see, the scrapper couldnt perform his function at all. That alone tells me there is something seriously wrong with roles.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Wait wiat...did you say, blapperS? As in more than one? Of course the scrapper (just one...singular) is going to get owned.

In a PvE situation, Ill bet that the scrapper would take significantly less damage than the blaster...PvP isnt the end all be all to this game.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Read again, it was a duel. Blapper was plural bc this isnt the 1st time witnessing this crap.
  16. I dont know. The reason I bring this up is bc I was on test yesterday in the arena. 17. A blaster's melee damage was lower than a scrappers, for the most part? So Blapper's dont out scrap, scrappers.
  18. A free respec for I7 means we wont see a trial implemented into the game to get unlimited respecs for 50s anytime soon.
  19. Yeah really. I remember the devs officially announced that the unrooting of Whirlwind was not part of the power's design or intent and that it was going to get a fix soon. But ppl still respeced into the power nether the less, knowing it was being exploited. Now ppl wanna cry up a storm. Well boo [censored] who.
  20. So what is the To-Hit debuff cap pre-I7, and what will it be the cap post I7 for Darkness Night, Hurricane, and Radiation Infection, specifically for PVP? Anybody know?
  21. The only things I could possibly see is them giving MM more base hp and the pet provoke. Hp will be nice but the pet provoke wont help against that sneaky blaster/scrapper who zooms in for the quick kill. I will help in duels tho.
  22. [ QUOTE ]
The problem with making AS check Range twice is that it would be virtually impossible to land in PvP

    [/ QUOTE ]

Castle, how can you say that? There are PLENTY of ppl who dont have stacked perception and/or long animation times on powers. Not only that, but in a chaotic environment like pvp zones, their's enough ppl who fight toe to toe with opponent without moving for a while. Your saying that not enough of a window for a power that bypasses all defense and nearly kills you in one shot? C'mon.

Yes, AS wouldnt be as prevailent as it is now, but seriously ppl who CAN see a stalker approach shouldnt be AS as often.
  23. Dammit, Ive procrastinated on this too long, bc there's alot to think of on this one. Where to start.....

Attila....my ex-Noo Yorka bud who I took an instant liking to and drilled me on "not being such a paranoid freaking NYer!"

Sable Shadow......showed me that being "nice" does pay off and a few tricks in the Sewer trial back then that proved quite impressive.

Lost prophesy and Diz.....got me back into the mix after my break from CoH, and got me up to speed on the arena. As many disagreements I might've had with them throughout the game, I could never be upset with my lil bros.

Hito....taught me that age doesnt determine maturetty. The oldest 18 yrs old I know. Also showed me how you can kill 20 Krakens in 120 mins.

Wasuber....reminded me that is just a game, and has pit many things in perspective when my Sicilian temper got the best of me.

Scrappy.....inspired me to think "big" and not give up hope against near impossible. Organizing some of the 1st Hami raids was brave and bold.

Believe it or not Posi.....stepped up my arena game due the the horrid beatings he gave me early in pvp.

Peritus.....I think proved to all of us Defenders arent gimped and sportmanship still does exist.

Mike killa.....proved no matter how much crap he gets from haters that he can still have a good sense of humor about it. Also proven to be a fresh breath of air to us old ppl.

Mystofire......reminds me to put more fun into my game.

And Qubit.........proved to me that being new has no bearing on grasp of a game, nor fundimental wisdom. He's light years ahead of some ppl who being playing since CoH went live.

There a ton more ppl I'd like to add but I usually like to keep my post short and sweet. And I need sleep......

Someone tell Black Scourge to read this, as this prolly won't happen again soon:

The other day, an SG friend and I were chatting about the "hooplah" on the boards, and Scourge's name came up. In particular, his scrapper, N'arloth (please forgive the spelling). At any rate, he and I both remembered teaming with him on a number of occasions, and we remember those times quite fondly, as he was, and I imagine still is, one hell of a scrapper. So, I learned a lot about scrapping, and a few TFs, from Black Scourge.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Thank for the compliment LJ, that was unexpected. You keep talking about me like that, your gonna soften me up on the boards. Guess your not such a bad guy after all.
