I don't recall where tracking the actual numbers found to be logged in by using search became anecdotal evidence. Granted, I do not know the the actual percentage of players that persistently hide from searches.
-
Might you have anything useful to say by chance?
-
LD,
Current CCC settings should be Let Application Decide for FSAA and AF. Everything else to default except Vertical Sync to Always On and under OpenGL Enable Triple Buffering. On that last bit, Vertical Sync should only be forced on if you normally experience screen tearing while turning left and right. -
New mission still coming from Port Oakes:
First screen: 45 sec
Second screen: 4 sec

I have heard the same thing going on. Another oddity, these long load times only seem to occur the first time I enter the map. If I faceplant and hosp, then go back to the mission, both screens flash by as they should.
Ok, in Port Oakes. Grabbed new paper mission.
First screen took a WHOPPING 102 seconds.
The second screen took 4 seconds.
Turned around to exit mission back to Port Oakes:
First screen: 3 seconds
Second screen: 9 seconds
Turn around and re-enter mission:
First screen: 4 seconds
Second screen: 4 seconds
So what is with the initial load of the map? -
About how long does it take you to go from clicking on a mission door until you've zoned in?
-
Howdy. I'd like know why load times have dropped into the dirt since I-17. Any time I zone into an instanced map, there are two screens.
The first one takes forever. Where forever for me is 30-45 seconds. I'll time the next few to get some exact figures.
The second screen is where you see the progress indicator and that screen flashes by in about 3-4 seconds. Again, I'll do some time runs tonight as I'm playing.
1: Is anyone else experiencing this?
2: Is the following assumption correct: The first screen is the server trying to figure out what map I should be going to and the second is the game loading the map from my system.
If this assumption is true, why the hell is the server taking so long these days to figure out where I'm zoning into? -
Yes, we've already covered that. Why do you insist on repeating yourself and using non-words like "irregardless?"
We all accept that those who don't take responsibility for their actions are bad players. We accept that some moron running off to aggro two spawns and rabbiting back to the group to cause a team wipe is a bad player.
Most of us are still waiting on YOU to agree that pompous know-it-all windbags that demand total subservience on a team are worthless wastes of time that no one in their right mind would bother teaming with. We're also waiting on you to agree that players should know their limits and place within a team so that they don't get themselves turned to paste trying to tackle the same level of difficulty that superiorly designed characters can handle. -
Quote:Will the mission be completed more quickly with allies? Well that depends. If they keep dying and taking trips to the hospital, then no.Ah, but does that mean the mission will be completed quicker then if you had 7 allies?
What about the people who die trying to tag along with you, and please no "not my problem".
What about the people that die trying to tag along with me? Hopefully it's a learning experience for them. "Hmmm," they ask themselves, "why do I die so easily against foes that he can defeat?" Perhaps then they'll look at my IO set bonuses and tactics and learn about Mids and understand the difference between solo and team-centric archetypes.
Or perhaps they stay with the team as the huge spawn of arachnos I attempt to solo turns me into paste and *I'M* the one wasting everyone else's time with a trip to the hospital. At which point I *will* learn from the situation and in the future only tackle that which I have at least a 50/50 chance of survival against.
It so happens that I have about a 10% failure rate against +4/x8 arachnos when bosses are turned on. Psi and very high accuracy assassin strikes hurt like hell against SR.
EDIT: So.. yea... people dying around me? Not my problem. That usually means they took on more than they could chew (their fault) or the tank/defender/controller are failing at their job (their fault.) Does that mean I ignore my teammates health? Nope. Does that mean I won't help take out nasties that are harming my teammates? Nope.
But this doesn't mean I'm going to waste my time babysitting every team I'm on. That's a support character's job. -
Quick little Point of Order: Scrapper Darkness Mastery doesn't get Gloom. Scrapper Darkness Mastery gets Dark Blast.
The difference?
Dark Blast does 62.56 Neg Dam with a 5.625% ToHit Debuff
Gloom on a scrapper would do 110.11 Neg Damage with a 5.625% ToHit Debuff
While Nightfall and Tenebrous Tentacles are both cones, anything that will help out Dark Melee's lack of AoE damage sounds like a good thing. -
-
Not to mention that the numbers I used for brute claws were what the numbers WOULD have been had they not been tweaked to make the set "feel" different for brutes.
The only difference in feel is that it feels superior... because it is. -
Yes it does disturb me when those obviously lacking understanding call those with understanding liars. However, such occurrences are common on forums so I'm not even remotely surprised.

Well dandy. Then we can stop paying Dell an extra hundred bucks to "downgrade" us to XP. We'll just get Win7 and load up our corporate copy of XP, yes?
-
For the record, you can still pay extra for Dells and the get XP downgrade option. My latest work laptop has Win7 64bit but I won't be able to run our current ERP software on it due to it being an ancient PoS. That's what the desktop is for. Yay remote desktop.
As for the rest of this thread, while it took over 5 years to get it done, the vast majority of the long standing ATI issues have been dealt with. Give it another couple years and the game will get tweaked to utilize multiple GPUs as well.
And you still won't get 60 FPS in some of the redside zones at 1920X1200. -
I disabled chat bubbles my first week in game. I found them distracting and silly.
-
Everything dies. Either spend your time worrying about dying or spend it living. The servers WILL get shut down one day. Mergers are NOT going to sustain it. This game, like every other game out there, will eventually end.
-
Oh Frosticus, how easily you lapse down to the low, feeble position of attacking the poster rather than defending your pet project.
Did I say I'd quit over it? No, I said it was a stupid idea that should never occur.
Are you going to have it show in the team window? No, not unless mouseover occurs? Great! I'll have a full team of Bill Zs. Won't that be fun?
Edit: "Bill Z, you take point!" "Got it!" "Aye!" "Yup!" And the blaster, defender and dom all face plant while the brute and tank sit back stating, "Oh, were you talkin to me?" -

I bid two fitty. That's two dot fitty.
