I think your missin what I was explaining about stealth vs invisiblity vs hide.
While Im in Stealth or Invisibility, Players can still see my Super Speed Aura, etc. but when a stalker is in Hide mode you cant see anything at all not even the slightest chance to defend yourself against that Assassins Strike. -
Dont get me wrong Im all for players being able to pick any power available to them, wether its on villains side or hero side.
/Rant on
My Rant is the auto Hide power. If I choose invisiblity then I should be hidden totally just like a Stalker. I honestly think its crap to constatly loose your target after target after target just because they Hide. Ive have soooo many villains down to the wire to where they start running for their lives to only loose them due to them Hiding.
Well shouldn't I have the same option with Invisibilty?! If I chose to run for the sake of living and toggle off Stealth for Invisibility then it SHOULD make enemies loose target as well. This constant being able to target hero's just because they dont have hide is nonsense. It cheats players outta so many kills thats its borderline gamebreaking in the sense.
Talked to a Stalker today as a matter of fact. He told me Stalkers got Hide because they dont Crit.. If thats true then why is it every other post I see that Stalkers in fact DO crit.
Hide+Placate (sp?) make stalkers pretty much high end dmg dealers and shoves scrappers to the bottom of the barrel below Brutes because it makes targeting them next to freakin impossible. Hell Brutes can just stand there and take all the dmg they want from Hybernate while building up Fury.. Total nonsense.
Its almost like PvP was made only for Villains because heroes hardly stand a chance against all the extra "tools" that Villains got over on them. Almost like Heroes are only allowed to get them to 1/4 hp so they can A: Hide B: Hybernate C: Phase Shift. Im sure there are more powers along those lines that do pretty much the same thing, I just dont currently know the names of them. These are the main ones I see 99% of the time though.
/Rant off
For PvP I feel that Powers that are considered UBER Powers or of that nature should be in fact disregarded from the PvP system. That would include Hide, Hybernate, Phase Shift, etc. Any power that makes you undetectable, unable to be touched, or unable to be hindered in anyway shape or form should be deleted or greyed out from PVP zones.
For some players Ive noticed if they didnt have these powers then they pretty much couldnt PvP and thats all that saves their butts from being killed. I believe if those UBER powers were greyed out then PVP would be MORE fun because of more kills for everyone + the fact that when you chase someone down for that final blow it MIGHT be possible to actually get that kill instead of them just disappearing from your sight totally.
I took Phase Shift on my PvP build because its the only chance I have at reletively even getting away from the Heavy dmg stalkers can do right off the bat + if your tryin to kill a brute with Hybernate then you have 4 villains just pop outta no where and try to eradicate you while you were trying to kill the brute. But then again Phase Shift CAN be gotten through and the player can still be killed. I feel the same should be made for Hybernate and Hide should be set up like Invisibility where players can still see you and your "auras" but has to be activiated for that assassins strike they love so much.
But to each their own. Im sure some would agree with me on these points and Im sure some wont. Please lets hear some intelligent replies other than Flames? What do some of you do to get around these issues? Are there some of you who dont even take those powers just because they are such a hinderance and borderline gamebreaking? -
Im one of the new people in PVP, only a couple months into it off and on. I have to admit, Im normally a PVE player but Im getting more and more into PVP. I have my wins.. my losses... my gripes.
I honestly believe a few powers should not be selectable period. You go to a PVP zone for 3 reason.. to win, die, or run. Not to stand there and hybernate while others beat on you. Not to go invis and 1 dmg hit takes 3/4 of your life. Not to attack someone and when they start getting the upper hand on you, you phase out like a punk.
Powers like these I believe shouldnt be in PVP at all. Im a scrapper at heart and I think its sad when I go to take out a brute, he can stand there and take everything I throw at him, even tho my attacks are supposed to be way above his so it evens out.. his HP is supposed to fall.. not stand there and take the dmg being give, and hitting me for the almost the same amount I gave to him.
Stalkers are complete wack imo. I can understand them hiding in PVE, but the Hiding/1 hit attack is complete nuts. Since PVP does allow them to use it it should at least give have an interrupted like aid self so if they move while tryin to use their "assasinate" attack then its interrupted. That ammount in dmg is just crazy. My crits dont compare to it in no way shape or form.
Corruptors, Ive owned them. Theyve owned me.
MM's seem pretty average. On the same line with Corr's.
As I said. Im new, maybe I dont fully understand the PVP. But its really bad when the tanks are becoming the heavy hitters and hiding/phasing really ruins play, and the final power on a tanks Primary power pool pretty much stops everything. When I have a player down to 1/4 hp, chasing him/her across the entire zone just to get that final hit in just to have them phase out IS pretty lame and destroyed any chance of me getting that kill. Sure run away, lead me into a heard of rival players, but dont phase.. its purely chickenshit.
I dont use phase at all. I want you to see me. I want you to come test your metal against me, whether you win or lose. Its supposed to be fun, not frustrating.
But its PVP.. so who really cares what I say. -
Thanks for the input.
I respected my other PVP build last night to my new one. You were thinking on the same lines I was. 4 pools chosen, AOE's are pretty much null, and Parry is to low of dmg to really be worth anything.
So my new build is now Hack, Disembowel, Headsplitter, Jump Kick. Picked up Jump Kick just for those flyers that need to be grounded so I can get that heavy hit on. Obviously if they are flying they are either scared to get low to ground due to being ganked or they are a AT with low HP.
I dropped Aid Self and picked up Tough/Weave. Both 6 slotted. I also Picked up the complete fitness line. Figured Swift would be helpful to move around a tad faster than a useless attack w/ low dmg. Health/Stamina 6 slotted with Hurdle 3 slotted to add faster Jump Speed with my SJ to catch those Speeders.
I had no choice but to pick up Parry and Shield Charge due to my 4 pools were already picked, but I didnt add any slot to them. I almost picked up Web Grenade in the Epic Pools line instead of Shield Charge, but I wasnt to sure on how good Web Grenade was in PVP.
Haste is 2 slotted, Build up is 2 slotted, and I also have the click resist buff 2 slotted as well.
All in All, this seems like it may shape up to be a pretty solid build. Im currently setting it out with Orange/Yellow lvl 50 sets (Titainum Armor etc) due to lack of influence and figure once its setted out. I can use the new incoming influence to deck out the yellow sets in upgrades.
All of my Auto powers are 6 slotted, while my Grant Cover that gives the small % to Resists is single slotted as well as the +dmg -foe dmg buff that can be detoggled if mezzed. One with Shield is single slotted due to lack of life time in PVP.
Any other takers on this build who use shields in PVP? -
I already have my PVE build pretty solid with the best bang for the buck and my power selections. Im working on my PVP build now but Im not quite understanding all this Softcap defense stuff. Any care to explain?
I took all the SD buffs I could, slotting accordingly to what is mostly needed. I added in Parry 1slotted w/ Defense Debuff IO as well. with single targe attacks. No need for AOEs that do lower damn than Disembowel. I did how ever pick up Shield Charge and Im thinking of dropping it due to the activation time vs how fast paced PVP is.
I also noticed in my PVP Im mainly using only 2-3 attack powers so I may throw away a attack I have atm for another Defense power of some sort. Everything moves so fast usually you only got 1-4 seconds to get off an attack or 2 before their either dead, KSed, or phased. Plus with BS the hits are usually big chunks of their HP at a time so all I need are a good couple of solid hits. I 6slotted my Headplitter with the Sc. Dervish Set because of the +to lethal dmg% giving it a extra 20% for a crit so that now makes it 30% chance to crit.
problem is Im still gettin my [censored] handed to me.
As for Power pools I have Aid self 3 slotted, Super Jump 3 slotted, Health/Stamina 6 slotted each, and Hasten 2 slotted
Should I respec this and pick up Tough/Weave? Should I slot parry up more? Should I keep Shield Charge?
Trying to figure out the best route for this build and Im twisting my own build around so much is now Im confused on what is good, whats bad, and whats soso.
Any info would be great. I dont have Mids builder or any other kinda software to design a build. Just going by feel and trial and error.
