Why not make the character that suits your image of a tank the best. I've got a inv/sstr tank a the moment and I love the character but the effects that go with ice and fire don't appeal to me at the moment. Even if they were by far the better options from a stats point of view they'd be no use to me.

If it was going to be GG Id want to do it earlier, 9ish is when I usually sign off. At the moment the Hollows or Atlas is more convenient for me as they're the areas I'm mostly in. Maybe each map should be given a round the clock meeting area with a possible peak meet up time--I suppose you'd be more likely to meet similar levs that way too. Hollows could be somewhere to the left as you enter maybe. Just some ideas. If this idea spreads a bit people would probably meet up via friends I would imagine. For instance, I am now very aware that Red Comissar is one to look out for and presumably people who visit the forums know my style of play.

Ves sounds like a great charcter to team up with although I imagine he could be infuriating. I once played D&D with a mate whose cleric was murder to get a cure light wounds from, he alwys wanted paying or a reason why he should give one. Very irritating but great fun and probably fairly realistic.

I'm thinking of something like a GG meeting point(not so much for rp chats as to get together) but it's still a bit early in my IC experience. However, if someone would like to suggest a very loose time and place I'll do my best. It could be used as a quick "add friends to list" option. I don't see this as my thing so much as a promoting participant in rp/ic play so feel free to do or say what you want.

Fair comment and I'm sure you're right but I really am trying to promote enjoyment of the game in another way. If Bridger doesn't approve I'll apologise, not do it again, and hope he forgives me. Battlflag needs to take chances for the cause.

More advice please.

I took Unyielding last night when I got to lev 8 and tried it out as soon as I could. I was in a team fighting outcasts in their base and gave Unyielding a try against shocker types. I wasn't stunned or put to sleep as sometimes happens(not that often though) but I did seem to be taking a fair bit more damage than usual despite TI being on.

Am I using this defence with the wrong foes? Am I mistaken in thinking I was taking a lot more damage? Am I doing anything wrong at all or is this supposed to happen? I did read that I was more likely to be hit but I was surprised by how much.

I'm on Union Blitz; I'll try to keep an eye open for you. Anyone I meet who is into the IC or rp aspect will probably go on my friends list and hopefully via versa; that should get a fairly regular team going in the long run. Fingers crossed.

I've mentioned somwhere else on these boards that I've played Baldur's Gate and that it had a sense of rpg even without the people. I've also played Dungeon Siege(maybe some of you have)and although the graphics were good and the quests had some imagination in evidence, basically it was a combat system. COH is not just a combat system but it could come close if you let it. If you care about and understand your character the whole game becomes a world and a story just like a book or a comic. Heroes are not "usually" deliberately created to be perfect, and even if that was the intention it is never true of them. So if you want to create a defender who is very aggresive and doesn't know what healing is, that's up to you...and him/her. Ideal builds and characters are great but unless there's something more, what's the point?

What are more fun, the missions that your designer heroes walk through or the difficult ones that you barely survive?

Rp planning, that's the way to go if it suits you.

I'm new to tanking, lev 7 at the moment. I agree that there's a real satisfaction knowing that you are doing something that benefits the team as a whole. Another plus is that having being used to playing blasters, controllers and defenders I feel pretty tough.

Sounds about right to me, Ves is just being Ves. The goody goody heroes might not like him but The Punisher's always had bad press among his peers and he does ok.

I certainly don't blame you for that. I was in a team last night that was good fun with a touch of IC even. This isn't rare but just like you I get annoyed with the crazy team syndrome or I just want to you to get me up a lev syndrome. The good team ups make up for the bad ones and I also get some good people on my friends list; Sandcastle and Torch of The Olympian(sorry, I'nm not sure that's exactly right)last night for instance.

But to each his/her own and I certainly understand why you don't advertise. Not that random invites bother me, I just decline if I'm not interested.

This is a wonderful game in a wonderful world. Next time your character is running along, look at the light reflect off his/her costume and be aware of all that is going on around him/her. Let’s make the most of it!

Union is the place for role play I am told, and so it is, but only just. Let’s start introducing the heroes to each other, put IC PLAYER in your team comment and see if we can get something started. I don’t want to compete with the Galaxy Girl crowd, I simply want to offer a first stepping stone to role play.

One other thing, from an rp perspective would you say it's best to stick to playing just one character or is two or three still do-able?

Thanks for the welcome. I'm eager to get my character to around levs 8 to 10 fairly quickly just from the point of view that I've played these levs a lot. My highest character has been 14. Once I've got a few decent powers and can get around at a reasonable pace I don't think I'll be in any great rush to climb the levels. From an rp point it just means my power armour tanker is still in the early stages of developing his invention.
