there is only one thing to consider CURRENTLY with the isolator spawning in RV...

it spawns ONCE every 2 hours under the tram.. and only ONE of the little buggers spawns....

now IF no one killsteals it (ooo yeah, this WILL be a camped spot for some heros) and assuming you do not die due to a pvp killby... your looking at 200 hours IF you did not get your isolator badge.

for those of us whom have been around since the begining.. this smacks as being unacceptable. OK i could see if say.. ohh 50-100 just spontainously spawn every 2 hours in that spot.. or there are random spots through the zone that will spawn say 5 at a time ( give it a 20 min timer then) that would be more than fair.

for the villans.. meh, if ya want it then grab it.. but only if we can get the jailbird badge too... otherwise hands off mr grubby Mc Handsoffmyspawn!

just a FRIENDLY reminder..

Dude it's a joke and Matt's laughing his [censored] off at us.

"The babies want it? Let them have it!" It's a big joke for them and does two things:

1) Gives us pre-I2'ers the chance to get it.
2) Give the anti-isolator crowd at least some satisfaction that it's hard to do... insanely hard to do.

'Course one could also say it's just a cheap ploy to keep people busy and thus in the game longer... God Forbid we do real end-game content... no lets do something we said we'd never do from the beginning and make an ultra-rare spawn that needs to be camped. ::glances at Matt::

If I wanted that crap I'd go play WoW or EQ.

I read it as reducing the rate of recharge... therefore increasing the time to recharge. If I'm wrong, feel free to pronounce DOOOOM!

[/ QUOTE ]

DOOOOOM!

Reduce means decrease, take away. If you are REDUCING a 10 second recharge time you are taking away or decreasing the recharge time.

How you turned reducing the rate to increasing the rate I can't quite figure out.

However... when they increase recharge times, they generally say they increase the time.

Maybe you're inadvertently right though and it's a typo in the patch notes and they meant increase.

[/ QUOTE ]

But if you reduce the RATE then you reduce the speed it recharges. I agree with dim that that would mean longer recharge TIME to recharge.

i.e. if my rate is .5 per minute, it takes two minutes to recharge.
Reduce my rate to .2 per minute and it takes 5 minutes to recharge.

Of course, if a redname calls me out as an "idjit" feel free to join in.

[/ QUOTE ]

Grrr now I'm confused. It was so clear and simple earlier. You did point out one thing though... reduced recharge RATE... vs reduced recharge TIME...

Sheesh they couldn't just say increased recharge time?

also i notessed someone said the key that dose not spawn a point on the map is for the jail, i got this off of a clickwork in Kings Row and i assume would be a skull in atlas etc. i think if thats what its for it should be dropped off of a cop, most likely one at cleast close to the jail, maybe the one on the floor the cells are on.
but hey whatever, just a thought...

[/ QUOTE ]

I believe they're right and I think you should be right.

I redid the Atlas run, found a group of skulls (again, only one spawn) and this time the key led to a hellion hideout. When I went to the prison there was NO villain to free.

Also I did some tracking:

Pretty much anything small (booths, phones, newsstands etc) I got a bonus after the first kill (this is on the atlas map mind you) and NOTHING after that no matter how much I destroyed.

With cars I had to take out 5 of them before I got a bonus... destroyed 10 more and no more bonus.

I finally said to hell with it and invested the time into destroying some trucks to see if that's why bonuses stopped and nope. Managed to take out three before time ran out, no further bonuses from anything except avoiding arrest. Unless I had to destroy 5 trucks... but man when you're only level 8 they're pretty damned time consuming. We're talking about using rest TWICE while taking one out. :\

So... all that being said Positron, if you see this I'd like to see more detail about mayhem missions.

-Are the low levels different than the upper?
-Why does my Atlas stop giving time-bonuses where-as my Talos keeps giving bonuses no matter how much I destroy?
-Why aren't the objects in the mission balanced better? They're a joke for anyone 25+ and time-consuming to impossible for someone 10-.
-How come # of key-bearing spawns grows as you got to different maps?
-Shouldn't this be random to keep the Mayhem missions interesting? After all if EVERY TIME I go to Talos I'm going to run one of the 5 known side-missions... it'll get old fast.
-How can we tell when items (if this is working as intended) are going to stop giving time-bonuses? This will actually COST us time trying to destroy stuff that will no longer give a bonus... and quite honestly, if only the first hydrant is going to give me a bonus, and there's no other reason to destroy objects (aside from a possible sadistic need for destruction ["because I can doesn't cut it"]) then why should I keep destroying objects? (I'm assuming this is a bug that they stop giving a bonus.)

I've a few more but lets see what some future patch notes bring and if the red-names are checking these as thoroughly as Posi said hopefully he'll catch wind of this and be able/willing to explain some things in a little more detail.

A perfect example was all the time invested trying to figure out why the end-boss spawned the way it did when all along there was nothing to figure out, it was random. If we knew a little more about the whos/whats/whys of mayhem we could test it better.
4. EDIT: Off topic and not worth the argument. Snip!

Sensible people keep saying this and the sublime ease of the solution still makes me chuckle.

Just to be an @!# I once had 3 friends, each of us with tport foe, yank someone halfway across the zone to the drone. Took several tries before we got it to work and it was quite fun. Even the target was amused.

[/ QUOTE ]

And, of course, long ago it was declared that absolutely no behavior in a PvP zone could ever be "griefing".

[/ QUOTE ]

No, that was never said.

If you're going to make a statement like that you should have the link to back it because some idiot's going to think you actually know what you're talking about and get himself into trouble.

First of all, anything in the EULA listed as griefing is still true in PvP zones. It doesn't say 'except in PvP zones'. A hero training mobs over other heroes in a non-FFA PvP zone will get into just as much trouble as doing it in a non-pvp zone.

In SC Heroes are not ENEMIES of each other and doing that is griefing where-as dragging mobs over your enemies is not. You're using them as a weapon to help kill your enemies.

Also Cuppa made a post a few weeks ago listing a few things that were in fact griefing in PvP zones and can get you warned and banned for doing them.

I quote:
In response to a player question Cuppa replied:
[ QUOTE ]
The Devs say - No. (Unless something is occurring over and over with the intention to harass, then it may be actioned.)

[/ QUOTE ]

Which falls into the EULA.

Also her post saying that you cannot swear AT people in PvP or it could be griefing. Of course my search-fu is failing me. Can anyone find that or did another red-name say that?

Yo, I was just in RV for 1.5 + hrs. The AV's are nearly impossible! Its gotta be toned down some, we couldnt even drop Scorpion under 72k, his hp was about 76k. Jeez.

I thought that until I saw LR/BS get taken out in about 2 minutes. Once people started focusing on one instead of splitting up between 5 (LR/BS and those stupid mega-bosses that came with them) it went very quickly.

HOWEVER... test server in regards to things like this is NOT a good test-bed. The # of players in the test server version of RV is probably not a good/accurate representation of how many will be in live... unless TEST is like the forums and it actually only represents a small percentage of the gaming population.

However it's IMO still a lot more active and has a lot more players than we're going to see regularly in live RV once the novelty wears off the and Non-PvP'ing badge get their badges.

You sure? I know it's random, but I still figured that if you were solo at heroic and randomly pulled a boss, the boss would become a lieutenant, if you randomly pulled a Hero and met the qualifications, the Hero would become an elite boss.

[/ QUOTE ]

Yes we're sure.

If you read the posts here there is absolutely no ryhme or reason why person a got this and person b got that. It's random just like Posi said.

i seen it in the video!

i am guessing it was over powered, so they dropped it.

[/ QUOTE ]

SAW it? What video? What do you THINK you saw? Considering there's 4 new PATRON power-sets out for MM's it's entirely possible it was a power from one of those... or maybe even a power from an existing set you've just never seen before.

Also an FYI: It takes MONTHS to build a new power-set. They don't just throw them away. If one was overpowered they'd rework it. Just ask old-school regen scrappers.

All joking aside, power-sets are too resource intensive for them to just throw away for any reason.
16. [ QUOTE ]
Honestly if the dev's don't want to go wity my multiple respawn point idea, then they should probably just have the AV's and a lot of hard hitting mobs show up and clear enough space around the bases so that people can realistically escape.

[/ QUOTE ]

NOT to bust your chops but if you think bringing AV's to the bases is a realitstic way of getting you out your sense of reality be skewed.

The minute AV's start popping up every hero is going to flock to them like flies to... well you know what you villains are and smell like. Just for the chance to fight an av...

I have noticed that no matter the mode I am in or how I attack with my pets in what combo what ever, when facing Longbow they will most of the time forgo my pets and just attack me. While this is a great techneque, mms are to weak to be able to take the damage of a full group of longbow by themselves, (meaning without pets) and all you get is debt.

[/ QUOTE ]

Try using Guardian mode /petcom_<whatever> def foll
will set them to guardian. That way if something hits you, they start in on it AND they absorb some of the damage you took.
18. EDIT: Already addressed later. Sorry I didn't notice sooner.

So far, having too much fun with being a Mafia Maul and ordering Thugs around. I'm a bit concerned about how much enjoyment I get out of seeing and hearing the two pistols come out, load a round and then fire.

One small complaint. I notice the Equip Thugs animation is the same as the mercenary MM equip. I'd much preferred them tossing the thug a big wad of money and they shove it in their pockets, or something like that. Seems to fit the thug personna a bit more and how they are motivated by money. Just a suggestion

[/ QUOTE ]

I'm HOPING this is just a place-holder animation. The very first animation for upgrading your bots in beta was like the animation/vfx for the repair power. This glowing spot would appear on the floor and electricity would shoot up from it and it looked like there were little 'things' (I thought nanobots) swarming in the glow as it headed toward the bot. It'd hit the bot, do the repair efx and come back to you.

So HOPEFULLY this is just a place-holder until they do something better.
20. Okay a 'formal' post:

Level 33 Grav/energy dom
Talos Island Mayhem

Did the arson mission, no problem.
Did the jewelry store, no problem.
Kidnapped the lady, no problem.
Spayed Mynx and robbed bank, no problem.
There was one problem, we did get a key from a mob of freaks that gave no indicator. As another person said, check clues, however there was no indication whatsoever we got a clue so didn't think to check it.
Villain freed from prison was useless. Would literally burn through all its endurance trying to kill civilians.
My singularity had its moments of uselessness, however it would keep following me so it was okay. It only got really bad near large groups of civilians where as it cycles targets it would cycle to civilians off of dangerous mobs.
No mapping issues that I noticed.
All objects continued giving bonus-time regularly.

Level 8 Thugs/Crap Arr... er... Trick Arrow MM
Atlas Park Mayhem

Only found one group of skulls and they gave a 'useless' key. As another person said, check clues, however there was no indication whatsoever we got a clue so didn't think to check it.
Went guardian mode once I got the loot, destroyed the flame blaster who showed up to beat me.
Villain freed from prison was useless. Would literally burn through all its endurance trying to kill civilians.
I had no issues with my thugs. I entered a mission, they came in right behind me. Please note however they were NEVER out of defensive mode. I ordered every attack. I didn't leave them in aggressive to go nuts on mobs.
There was one dumpster that slid about 5' when I shot it and from then on it was "out of range". I also could walk through about half of it. I didn't even think to /loc it though.
--EDIT: It was right near the Skull spawn in the alley.
After giving me one or two bonuses objects STOPPED giving me bonus time! After about 5 minutes in the mission the only bonus time I got was for resisting arrest.
Objects need to be re-thought. In my 33 missions I can waste everything in one shot. In this mission it took a minute or so per car (2 levels above me) and even some grey objects took two shots.
The level 15 objects were indestructible to me as they were purple and each shot was only doing 1 damage. So even with my three attacks + my henchemens two attacks that's only 7 points of damage per cycle.
--Thought: Could this be why the other objects stopped giving me time? I wasn't destroying enough 'variety'? Or could it be that once we attacked a purple object the game waited for us to finish it and 'ignore' the other objects we destroyed?
--Does Atlas have more than one side-quest? I only found the ONE group of skulls. I never noticed any of the other mobs with lower health indicating they might have found and trounced other mobs.
At least I got a nice raptor pack out of it. It might actually last me until I can get my own travel power.

Nor do they collapse into a pile of shattered bones when my singularity lifts them...

How great would that be if you could just obliterate npc's in the mayhem missions like cars and stuff? I know, teen rated... but would love to drop a crushing field on some mobs and watch them implode into ltitle gooey flesh-balls under the pressure.

Sigh... do you hate this game so, that you want it to end up in the same trouble that Oblivion currently got?

[/ QUOTE ]

Firstly Posi said it wouldn't affect the rating. Secondly I'm allowed to fantasize. :P The toon I'm referring to (the grav) isn't a heartless murderer. He'd ignore the civi's for the most part. However, he IS a villain and if civilians were getting in his way he would drop his AoE hold in the hopes of reducing them to smears.

EDIT: Unless Posi was being sarcastic...
22. [ QUOTE ]
-Ideally- when you start firing off your powers, the citizens scream and run for cover in a nerby building. This is awesome, logical and a good compromise. We can't kill them at random, but we can scare the bejezus out of them (honestly, I prefer that to killing them, myself, too).

[/ QUOTE ]

They do... sometimes. I've watched as whole groups of civilians book to a door that is un-enterable for me thus "despawning" them. However that is infrequent. For every civi that runs into a door 3 more (assuming we're actually next to doors at this time) run away from them.
