I like the chain mail, and am not actually all that interested in the Black Knight armor. I have a bunch of people who can use that chain mail though.... Its just the idea that we VIPs are going to have to shell out.... AGAIN.
That armor belt BETTER be in there if we are paying for the set, just saying. So tired of costume set bait and switch.... "Like that belt and shoulders, do you? HAHAHA YOU LOSE! *snatches the best pieces out*" -
Quote:....Remember back when we were told we were going "free to play," and that people who remained VIP would be "taken care of" and "will be treated right"? I sure do.You have no idea how happy I am right now!
With that, I am getting back in the bed.
I feel like I have been asked to pony up right alongside every freemium player out there *while still paying* a subscription like freemiums DONT, and it rather ticks me off. KInd of makes me feel like a patsy. Like I'm paying a sub in order to run itrials...? Is that my VIP benefit, 10,000 BAF runs? Really.....?
This ENTIRE chainmail/armor set should be free to VIPs. All of it.
As far as the Mech set, interesting and I have someone who might use parts of that. Nice. But I don't call a set purchasable with tokens every six months or so, the VIP playerbase being "treated right." Perhaps that is just me. -
One could remark with some validity that the ONLY missions to be removed from the AE are in fact, profitable farms.
Every single other thing is left to languish.
Overall, a larger waste of developer resources could hardly be imagined. -
Hmm, why don't I use....
*1. That badge-stripping thing really teed me off. Take my badges? OK.... I'm ignoring your content.
*2. Oh wait, its not really developer content, its player content! Which means if I turned one of my cats loose on a keyboard, he or she could hammer out a better story.
Of all the MA arcs I have ever played, I only remember two, both created by forumites altho sadly I cannot remember which two:
1. The "Do Zombies Like Tequila?" mish
and 2. Someone's "Destroy the CoT Cave" mish.
Those two were hilarious and I loved them. Oh wait, someone had a haunted house mish and I enjoyed that too. Three missions out of 300,000, good reason to go back in there. Or not.
*3. Nerfed rewards. AND nerfed, AND nerfed and nerfed some more.
*4. Player-created bosses intentionally made as stupidly difficult as possible. Pass!
I am sure I could think up more reasons, but those are a few springing immediately to mind. -
Quote:I am admiring his stylin' and profilin' boot-cut jeans and cowboy boots! However whats going on with his head confuses me.... Hey, what comic is this from anyways? So let's instead go with the stupidity of a one armed archer who hangs upside down and pulls the bowstring with his teeth.
Your problem is that there is actually nothing stupid about this picture. We have 1. a guy 2. missing an arm 3. using his natural armament [teeth] to get the job done. Three things that make sense. His aim might be off, but it does not irreparably break my suspension of disbelief.
This is completely NOT on a level with stuff like Wookies celebrating Christmas on their home planet, to continue the Star Wars analogies and does anyone remember that wacky Christmas special, anyways?
[And who involved with the SW franchise sat around one day and brainstormed up "....you know what this franchise needs is some fuzzy little animated teddy bears! We will call them Ewoks!! Awesome idea, I will get right on it." ...scratch that I dont even WANT to know who it was.] -
Quote:The problem with this is that we can have a "stupid" category, and an "unrealistic" category; these do not have 100% overlap. You should stop for a moment and think about most of the character concepts and JUST HOW STUPID they are.
This is a superhero game, you can drawn the stupid line anywhere you want. But so can everyone else. Unrealistic is the ENTIRE POINT of superheroes.
It is the Venn diagram overlap of "stupid and unrealistic" from which most of the problems in this thread flow.
I do not think superhero-themed stuff is stupid, really. I have been reading about it my whole life; my first little-girl crush was Batman, for crying out loud. I do draw the line at cartoon dogs barking rockets, dogs fighting with swords and [perhaps most epically] someone else's mention of a game where people swordfight using their feet, though.
Could anyone but chimps do that, really? Disgression.... but just saying.
[And yes, the fact that Star wars is cram-jam-packed with crap I find utterly slapstick - Ewoks being Exhibit #1 - is a big reason I have not been following the franchise for decades.] -
...Read the entire wall of text? No thanks, but a few things jumped out:
Quote:Completely, 100% bass-ackwards. The argument has little to do with "animals with powers, period" but rather more to do with your assertations that animals who lack arms - and indeed, opposable thumbs - look handy-dandy trying to use bladed weapons by clamping them in their mouths, and we should all just shut up and agree with your assertation because you are the only person in the entire known universe with an "I'M ALWAYS RIGHT!" button.that naughty-naughty finger-wavin' wolf guy: Yes, that the discussion has reached nearly 15 pages shows it is a topic of debate whether you agree with it or not. It has little to do with animals wielding weapons in their mouth and more to do with animals with powers period.
On behalf of everyone I will thank you for the funny mental imagery this provokes, its been a hoot.
Quote:However, you, Golden Girl, have literally insulted my creativity by labeling something I invest in as stupid. No, I don't take it as a personal insult, but I do take it as an insult none the less and I'll be damned if I settle for that coming from a obnoxious one-dimensional person with lack of vision like yourself.
Quote:So thanks for being an insulting, obnoxious, narrow minded peon in my path that I have to step on to move forward....or to put it shortly, thank you for being Golden Girl
Or don't. This is actually pretty amusing. *gets out microwave popcorn* I love how people like you start whipping out the personal insults when you run out of logical arguments, very amusing and very telling too. Please flail around a bit more, I have plenty more popcorn. -
Not to mention this:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kJzQx_zEGoM
....is quite possibly, the most ridiculous-looking video-game related thing that I have literally ever seen. The more it gets posted the more ridiculous it looks. What the flaming hell would a 10-foot-tall wolf need with a sword?! He would bite one's head off T-Rex style, no weapons needed and game over! Puns intended!
Ridiculousness.
Quote:Dat's wight, wabbit. It comes with concepts that *might* be copied from other games too, that apparently we're 'Too Good' to 'copy' others...even if only taking inspiration from others...and even to a fault that we'd *deny* options to keep CoH 'pure'. -
Cathulhu, your logic has no place here. It is easily overcome by Leo posting the same frackin' videos over and over and over again, as if to drown out naysayers by dint of sheer overpostingness.
Leo thinks that humans instinctually start trying to scratch opponents when threatened, and that punches, kicks etc. are "learned behavior."
He thinks that dogs wielding 9' swords in their mouths are the epitome of awesome.
He has said he "does not give a crap what [other players] think." Fair enough, because I for one certainly feel free to reject the "awesomeness" of his sword-fighting dogs and evident love for all things furtastic. Meh.
The developers will settle this, one way or another. I have a feeling they're NOT going to come down on the "hey yeah cool, dogs fighting with swords, make it so!!" side of things, but let's don't disturb Leo's fantasy. Its all he has. -
Quote:Ok, let me get this straight: wanting to keep sword-wielding Sparkledogs out of the game is equivalent to "homophobia"? And people accuse me of hyperbole....B_I's got a lot invested in people not having options. It's like homophobia, but with yiffing.
I am great with "having options." I do sort of like for the options to make sense within the given framework being discussed: this is where player-created Sparkledogs - and said dogs fighting with mouth-held swords - falls down.
At this point I think what can be reasonably said has already been said; I leave it to the developer's good sense to ensure we maintain at least a semblance of comics-related sensibility in the game. I am confident that they will in fact do so, despite the wilder wishes of some of the playerbase. -
Quote:Y'know, Techbot, unfortunately for you I am not staying awake nights wondering what exact ideas you think are "wrong," or 'stupid." I'll leave it to you to figure out why Im not doing that [hint: its easy to figure out].Your point is also completely fallacious and pure wrong. For a start, you clearly haven't seen some of the costume abominations we can ALREADY HAVE that pretty closely fit what you just described. I mean, heaven forbid that people want 'normal' anthropomorphic characters who don't act like complete sparkledogs/weabos/whatever.
This is not 'Transformers in Middle Earth', and that is a frankly bloody stupid analogy. 'Anthropomorphic characters in the CoXUniverse, which already has crazy alien things, magic, giant robots and pretty much everything under the sun already anyway' is far more accurate.
I really hate it when people use straw men arguments...
The fact is, again unfortunately for you, that I dislike the idea of people taking this new furry idea and running all the way to Alpha Centauri with it [as we all know will immediately happen.... there are plenty of people who wait up nights on the prayer that they'll be able to grief the game in such a fashion...] and also that despite Leo's desperate attempts to claim otherwise, that the idea of animals fighting with bladed weapons in thier mouths is nothing more or less than slapstick on a level with any episode of The Three Stooges. Fight, ad-hominem, insult, namecall: will change nothing, its a stupid idea and a logical fallacy - and deep down, you are well aware of this.
You just enjoy a fight. Duly noted!
You guys already have the so-called "yiff pack" and you are welcome to it. Be glad you got that much.
Now, I am delighted that you and others have no problem with the idea of, say, a Gone With The Wind trial where your Incarnates fight the Boss version of General Sherman, in a new blighted a-la Boomtown zone called Burnin' Down Georgia. That would make NO SENSE in COX, much like rainbow-colored dog-girls who fight with 9' swords in their mouths [?!!] MAKES NO SENSE EITHER. You can namecall all you want, will not make it less true. 'Ave a nice day, mate.
Next: Rhett Butler summons a Mech to get Scarlett out of burning Atlanta. -
If it has fixed wings, I might buy that category for my Robot woman, she would like those.

Quote:I'm female, thanks so your fantasy is going nowhere, unfortunately for you.Like there aren't furrys already here....You know Bad_Influence goes all Hyde and sprouts multi-color fox ears with piercings, rainbow colored fur on his body, buckle boots with legwarmers and a bikini with an conspicuous bulge...It's pretty scary, actually

Quote:Eh, meh.... not big on the Gundam look myself, but will keep hoping for pix of the other upcoming costumes later on. Thanks for the link tho. There were some that Zwil posted, but then took down and asked others not to repost saying that changes needed to be made. Some people have posted pics of other mechs in there that they say look similar to the preview that was taken down.

Quote:So.... sword fighting for dogs consists of tapping one's inner thigh with the sword to cue the dog to walk between one's legs. Or, having the dog jump the sword! EPIIIIICCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCC !!!!!!!!11!!!1111eleventy-oneeeeee!
[yeah, I'm not seeing it as a valid strategy in a real fight, sorry. Jumping the sword might save his life, meanwhile he inflicts no damage)
Ok, I still like the idea of Transformers burning down Civil War Atlanta a lot better. -
Quote:Want both of these hair options and have since I first saw them, thank you very much.I think we need long hairstyles for male and female soon.
The latest we had has been only short hair, and the legacy hairstyles are too low on polygons to look good.
I think we should get this options:
Hood with hair:
Gorgons and Tielekku long hair:
As far as Ghost Widow's hair, this is a player wish that should have come true about 6 years ago. It is far past time for animated hair, and I say let's make it happen. I am fine with not being able to use capes or other backpieces with it, I just want it now and I am not alone in that. Curly hair, straight hair, flat hair, floofy hair: animate yesterday please.
Also needed: animated topknot for men AND women. That way guys are not left out, plus I have several men wearing it.
People not wanting to wear "ugly" animated hair can just not wear it: kind of like I eschew ugly costume parts like those *&@# Celestial boots. Everyone happy. -
Are there any pix yet of any of the costume sets allegedly appearing in i23? I'd be interested in seeing this Mecha set, although from the sounds of it I have one toon who would be truly thematically correct for it.
-
...Not real sure how your toy pictures are proving that scratching is instinctual behavior but punches are alien to the human mindset and must be learned, but go on with your bad self I guess.
The first natural human response to a physical attack is to start scratching? Really? What planet DO you hail from, anyways? -
Quote:The problem is that Diabolique actually looks good. Sparkledogs.... not so much.Personally, though, I don't see a reason to mess with the straw man. If "rainbow big-boobed doggie girl" is what I wanted, then that's what I'll have, and I will be perfectly within the game's established canon, which has a dead big-boobied dead woman with a fireplace on her head. Once we acknowledge that our game has THAT, we've pretty much thrown moderation, reservation and "theme" out the window.
And I'm all the happier for it.
I would like to get a closer look at the actual Diabolique, but she's so obliterated by a million powers firing at once that she's dead in ten seconds. Sad, because she is epic.
Which a rainbow big boobed doggie girl will nevah be -
Quote:Ah, so evidently there is no such thing as a genre. This is another one we're going to have to agree to disagree on, because I just can't waste time on arguing that all concepts are valid in all possible settings. This would mean it would be ok to remake "Gone With The Wind" with Transformer Robots setting fire to Atlanta. While it is fun to imagine Aunt Pittypat running screaming across the burning landscape in fear of Decepticon.... its not something that works well for me thematically. Do excuse that naughty "theme" word again.
Tow: Nope. Neither "heroes" nor "villains" have any inherent genre, because they're concepts of the behaviour of intelligent creatures.
Quote:Because I heard the same tripe you're delivering now when the Animal Pack was released, and aside from Day 1 of it being on the market, I've not seen any great concentration of animal-head people.
Quote:So who says wolves in Paragon City can't possess both? War Wolves certainly don't seem to have any of those limitations.
Quote:someone else: There aren't any instinctual attacks except the very same exhibited by other bipedal animals and it usually involves scratching. Thrusts and punches are learned behaviors and movements because they aren't something you can do without injuring yourself.
I think a half-hour spent in any preschool would amply show otherwise.
Next up: Ashley Wilkes goes to Middle Earth and barks rockets, stay tuned. -
Quote:Yep, what Agent said. We need beacons to all co-op zones.... at least we do if you want to see people in them.Because it's a co-op zone where there's actual content to be done, unlike Praetoria where it's strictly praetorians only. Trying to handwave the inconvenience as lore is ridiculous, especially now with the TUNNEL system being implemented.
And last time I checked, I could bring my Primal people to Praetoria any time I liked: my main badger just went in there and got all the badges. So maybe we DO need teleport beacons in Praetoria, too.
p.s. I think we have a sub between IP and Sharkhead, too. OK, put subs in the zones. SOME way to navigate. I am open to suggestion. -
Quote:Wait, there's actually a game where people fight with swords held by their feet? LOLtacular. And all I gotta say is... so?
Even if humans have to train with swords, they're designed for humans.
That and having dogs run after things with swords in their mouth sounds incredibly facepalm worthy. About as ludicrous as that scene in MGS4 with people swordfighting with their feet.
Dogs need a weapon designed for dogs. Give 'em stronger claws, better teeth, whatever.
As far as wolves with swords, canines may indeed bite with far more force than humans; this is an excellent argument for canines getting all medieval and actually, you know, using their natural armaments to fight with.
No matter how you swing it [do pardon the pun] a dog's neck has nowhere near the range possessed by the human arm. If this was an idea that would actually do well, there would be people schooling k-9 forces to fight with swords in their mouths right now.
But it wouldn't and they don't. Especially with nine-foot swords *sword grounds in the dirt, first swing*. I should not have to explain this, it should be obvious! -
Here is the main problem for me with First Ward: we are not allowed to have a base portal there, which makes getting there a huge PITA.
I like the First Ward missions, especially if I am running something with shields. Squishies suffer horribly in there and i will not be taking any more of them in there for the time being, due to the difficulty of the mobs one faces. The endurance-sucking Carnival of Light are just not something my level 20 Corr feels like facing; she's a coward like that. Back to Sharkhead.
I ran my DB Brute through all the contacts there and she had a blast.
As far as this Night Ward, all I hope is that we can have a teleporter beacon. I'm not really sure that we needed this; why not just use Other New Zone First Ward? its brand new and already relegated to the past. -
Quote:My interests are not limited to "silver age American comic books," far from it. Way too much of an over-generalization. No offense, but you really have no idea what my comics-related interests are; they swing a wide loop.Yes it is. You can keep saying this till the cowgirls come how, but it won't make it true.City of Heroes stands for more than the narrowest definition of silver-age American comic books, and to use comic books as a LIMITING factor in the first place is just missing the whole point.
Quote:This is not a game about genres or styles, it's a game about imagination and opportunity.
Quote:We play in a fictional world where quite literally anything goes if you can explain it, and I can explain this.
Quote:Furthermore, what do you care if I have access to better animal parts? You won't be buying that set, you won't be using that set, and if you want to argue that you'll be "bothered" by seeing ME use a set that I like and make characters that I like, then this is a sacrifice I'm willing to make.
However I will unbend so far as to say we could use more anime-themed hairdos; this would be awesome.
As far as someone else complaining that it is indeed au fait for wolves to be wielding swords since people do it all the time: People do indeed use hand weapons. We possess two things that dogs don't:
1. Five-fingered hands that possess opposable thumbs, enabling us to grip objects
2. Long arms with 360 degrees of motion, enabling us to swing weapons.
A wolf with a sword in his mouth that is actually longer than his body-length is a logical fail for me, since the instant his short little neck tried to swing it, the weapon would ground itself. I am willing to suspend disbelief only so far. -
Quote:Wrong, my lil' argumentative fur-person. I most certainly do care. What I *don't* care to see is the thematic equivalent of people trottting over to the LotRO forums and starting the following thread: "Middle Earth needs Transformer Robots! Let's make it happen!"Lol no you don't. You don't give a **** about what some other person you don't like wants.
Robots would be stupid in Middle Earth, i-Pod wearing rainbow colored dogs with huge mammaries wearing bikinis would be stupid in a superhero-themed MMO. I trust I have made my point.
Quote:Hell, I don't give a **** about a Furries online game. The least you can do is not lie about your intentions.
