  1. Just as someone that tends to stray from the forums (on the whole) because of the bickering and what not that seems to crop up, just felt like getting something off my chest.

Protector is a small server with a fairly friendly body of people who may not all get along with each other, but are generally willing to help. I've posted what I consider to be dumb questions both here and on JS and very rarely (if ever) have I been insulted or made to feel stupid. I don't (or try not to) snap at people who may give me an answer I don't like and for that reason, I think I get treated respectfully.

When someone does snap, typically it seems as long as one of the people is honestly trying to find a resolution, both parties calm down and apologize (yes, we are all human and have bad days).

All this being said, I think the fact that this thread has to exist is ridiculous. And here is why.

I can go to almost any other board on this forum (aside from mod/dev only boards) and find lots of personal insults and flames that arise out of nothing. Simply asking a question gets you an answer, maybe two, and then either an insult (veiled or otherwise) or just [censored] sessions about the mods/devs (depending on the topic). This is not to say that every other board is a cesspool, but I tend to see more of it on other boards (and as others have said, this is usually because other boards have more people and more people just means more jerks).

So, my point is this. This thread, Ex being dragged down to play babysitter keeps getting done because (as far as I seem to understand it) of sillyness. Oh, someone threadjacked, oh someone made a stupid joke about Badge or Ish, oh someone said rabbit, oh noes people are making jokes! When it could be much much worse.

Some people are taking themselves way too seriously and I think that that is really a shame (since we're almost getting in trouble for being too friendly and willing to joke with people).

I do think people need to adhere to what Ex's last post said (though the fact that adults and young adults need that typed out for them doesn't fail to shock me) and I think that Aerones is probably more right than not.

As for me? I'm going to go play the game I love and hopefully bug some people I get along with to team with me and do some Task Forces. I'm also going to take one of my very common sabbaticals from these boards.

I hope everyone is in a better mood when I get back, because this is simply a damn shame. And hopefully Ex won't be getting bothered over something she should never have had to be involved with in the first place.

  5. Wow...who got modsmacked this time?

    Me or MfA?
  6. Lohr, the great man that created this was lohr.

And I'm going to have to PM him soon since I'm actually going to plan some TFs...oh dear!
  7. I think Lohr is just lining up for position as mayor.

But what do I care? At least I get to PM my favorite dude (gonna unlock the Hess TF on my Tank and try to organize some Striga TFs).

    Did you know...

There used to be some nearly impossible to find mission doors due to a navigation bug? One such door was underneath a basketball court in the SW corner of Brickstown (/loc of 367.2 -30.6 2280.1, if you'd like to check it out). The bug was that for some reason, perhaps because it was located below some minimum terrain threshhold, it produced no beacon to follow in your navigation window, and by guesstimating using your map, it lead you to an empty basketball court. Only by noticing the narrow, fenced-in ramp adjacent to the court could you find the mission. Occasionally, you could find several toons just meandering about this basketball court unable to find their mission . I'm pretty sure this was fixed (or that door is no longer used, perhaps), although I can't recall the specifics of how or when.

    [/ QUOTE ]

    ....

I got that mission a few weeks back and bugged/petitioned it again.

Unfortunately I had to use the mission dropping feature.

But yeah, not fixed (or not fixed in its entirety).

Gaiman's a tool, I've met him. You're righ on the money there. King's a freak, completely off his rocker, then again, I like that in my horror writers. Barker's my favorite so far, Margrette Weis is a close second.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Weird, and completely unlike my experiences meeting Neil Gaiman. He was fairly polite and personable. Also, witty.

Fact: writers/celebrities/etc. are real human beings. As such, they can have bad days, good days, off days, be taken the wrong way or just come across not how they want.

In the same day, I can say the same comment with the same tone to two different people. One will think I'm a goofy joker.

The other will think I'm an insufferable [censored].

Again, our individual experiences with people do not represent the entirety of all experience.

Edit: And, often times, even the nicest person will be called a jerk by quasi peers. You know why? Gaiman is making lots of money. These quasi peers may not be. Jealousy can and does color comments.
  10. *looks at Necromonicon*

I remember running all the way back through a map when the mission completed popped up because I was so excited at being an Axe/Stone Tank hero, I didn't bother reading the tutorial.

I remember the forums pre-horsey Positron.

I remember the Council/5th Column war in the streets.

I remember box hunting in Boomtown (I did it once and with all the convos with people I had..it was actually fun).

I remember taking down my very first Eochai in the very first Halloween event (that nice spawn spot in Steel Canyon by the Mutant store where the Council/Column always camp).

I remember people crying about the 5th Column leaving.

I remember taking a screenshot (that I still have) of my character literally crying by a group of grey 5th Column.

I remember the Winter Lord kids.

I remember the huge groups by the entrance to the Hollows that would share insps and enhancements/buffs before braving the run.

I remember trying to run across the Hollows for the first time at level 6.

I remember the trailers for the Shadow Shard.

*prepares to get blasted with a boomstick*
  11. ...Wait...

Does that mean if you were to wear that in a PvP zone...you could go past the Arachnos drones?

    *head explodes*
  12. Janibas....

I love you a little more now.
  13. The name sounds familiar (and not in a good way) but I do not know who it is directly. A link mayhaps?

And I've never held what man does against the God he claims to represent. I mean, the KKK were "good Christians" yet in their early incarnation also hated Catholics (same God).

Of course, I also believe a person's faith is between the person and God (or Gods, or trees, or what have you) and is not for anyone else to judge.

And Statesman rules! (lol, on topic a bit)

Depending on who you ask, many also refer to Greek (and Norse, etc.) Gods as being more inherently human like. They lusted, they wanted, they needed, etc. Whereas the Judeo-Christian God is "perfect" and "wants for nothing." So the old gods were not evil, they were just human....kinda.

    [/ QUOTE ]

I'm just going to argue that there isn't, per se, a "Judeo-Christian" God. There is a God of the Hebrews and there is a God of the Christians, and never the twain shall meet.

And the God of the Hebrews is not perfect, he's a jealous God. He says as much himself.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Jesus was a Jew and claimed the God of the Hebrews as his own God. This links Jews and Christians right there. Even in the Koran (spelling subject to change) Mohammed is told that Moses and Jesus are prophets of Allah, linking all three religions. But this link is downplayed for the same reason that Hell was created around a thousand years ago or so.

    Competition.

Hades loved war but that in and of itself is not evil. War defines peace, just as death defines life (see how I got Hades in there?).
  16. No disrespect to the current creative team on the comic but this is what I expected when I joined this game (in terms of a monthly comic book). And I am very excited that I now have it.

    Cheers.
