Quote:Which is why I thought all the "AE is killing the game" full were full of shite. One step further...
There IS nothing to complain about because they still CAN play the game exactly as they did before. NOTHING CHANGED except we finally got some endgame content.
Remember when Mission Architect was 'killing the game I love'???
Flavor of the month rant about nothing. I still get groups for all sorts of content and I'm a dummy. It ain't hard.
No one is stopping anyone from playing the game anyway they like. AE wasn't. PVP wasn't. And Incarnate Content isn't.
As to the Incarnate Content, I'll say I like Issue 20. However, I hope they don't forget the rest of the storylines they've left hanging for years. Praetoria isn't the only threat in this game. -
When I don't want to do Incarnate Stuff (like this week and the week Sister Psyche was the WST) I just go pvp or team with folks who prefer not to go through the dreck that are the older COH Tfs. (though Numina is a bit better)
Next week I'll probably get back to doing Incarnate Content, as I've only run Tin Mage once. -
Quote:right like I said people from Praetoria. I doubt he would give the same option to many (if any) metas from Primal. Since he thinks they are all barbarians. His war plans in the Responsibility arc basically involve tossing non-powered folks in front of the Seers, and then summary executions to follow immediately if their brains don't read "Hey, that Cole fella is pretty cool". However, the opportunity does seem to be there. Heck, he even gives a chance to the character, as well. "Go check out how much this world sucks, but you can be at my side or at my feet later."
-
Quote:That's NOT the impression I got from his speech when you talk to him during the "leaving Praetoria" mission. You haven't seen Recluse's future, have you? He's at least as uninterested in the whole "surviving metahumans" thing as Tyrant, and he has the added bonus of being completely uninterested in the whole "surviving anyone". Tyrant at least wants to keep a zoo.
If he at least wants to keep a zoo, it'll be of Praetorian meta humans loyal to him. And few at best.
NONE from Primal Earth . . . or any other dimension for that matter. The rest he plans to nuke from orbit . . . aka genocide.
EDIT: I wouldn't trust the rantings of someone who is working hand in hand with an entity that has gone batshite crazy and wields near omnipotent power (aka WotF). -
Quote:What if a villain player wants to destroy all life in the universe? What if a vigilante wants to take a warburg nuke and wipe out all of the rogue isles?
What if a rogue wants to rob candy shops and doesn't give a damn about money? What if a hero wants to over himself with raspberry jam and fight only fruit related crime?
The developers don't have time to develop missions for all these people. Though it'd be easier to include mission for fighting fruit related crime and candy stealing than it would to add missions to help Cole invade.
A yup!
Also writing fighting against Cole is easy in an MMO: the defeat of Cole just means he is pushed back to try again.
What would be the victory condition for helping Cole? You win and the invasion succeeds? How exactly would you show that in an mmo, when Cole's self reported "win condition" is wiping out all metahuman life in Primal Earth? -
Quote:There's also the VERY REAL possibility that Cole (who we now know wields most of the power of the Well) could have ended the Hamidon on his side at any time, but kept it under his control, to keep his power. That is "you need me and my praetors to keep you safe from the big bad Hamidon which even I could not fully defeat."That "if" is the Big Lie of Praetoria. Apart from a few scattered sightings of a tentacle beyond the sonic barrier, there's no indication of what kind of threat Praetorian Hamidon presents, much less whether or not Tyrant is the only opponent capable of defeating it. (Why yes, I am holding out for the possibility of GR-side Hami raids.)

Quote:Yeah, if only we could go back to the days when people ran old story arcs instead of newspaper/radios and the ITF over and over again.
Oh, wait.
I've done Worldwide Red, I've done To Save a Thousand Worlds, I've done a bunch of the old story arcs, and you know what? They're terrible. Bunch of repetitive missions against the same enemy groups that send you all over the city, and the story barely manages to tie them together anyway.
There are a significant number of TFs like that too. Just saying. -
I like this option. Not necessary to add in EB to this mission at all.
As EvilG already pointed out it will already be slower than the I20 options. By far.

The launcher needs work. But so far it seems to run well on my end. I click it off once the game launches.

Quote:Saw the picture, thought it looked pretty damn good, then saw the name. Didn't remember the name. Looked it up on IMDB to jog my memory. IMMEDIATELY tabbed back to the picture. Jaw. Dropped. It makes it pretty hard to complaint about his movies when you don't have a mouth...(goes all matrix on his haters.)
AWESOME makeup and costume work! -
Quote:Yep. Spot on.Although he started out as a game character, then a cartoon character, there is someone (something?) that has spread into the comic book realm as well and is pretty much recognizable just about everybody.
Pikachu.
He's slowly morphing into Mickey Mouse. -
Quote:Neither did I.I guess I can see reading it that way, but I read it as "I, someone who has a long history of active communication with the devs through channels that I have managed to open in the past, am having a hard time communicating with them now."
I mean, she could have meant "Even Arcanaville, mistress of all space and time, cannot get them to address Us," but I didn't assume it was meant that way...
And say what you might about not liking parts of what they are doing, but the team HAS been releasing epic amounts of content lately. Between GR-I20 has been A ******** of content. We've already had 19.5 and 20 is right around the corner. Not to mention the Animal Pack. Me thinks this will be another big content year. ;D -
Quote:Go.I read the first volume/collection of Powers waaaayy back, when I was newish to CoH actually, and liked it; always meant to read more, but haven't gotten to it, and can't now, but look forward to the show.
Read.
The.
Rest.
Of.
Powers.
Now.
I hardly EVER recommend comic series, but this series and Invincible have been cooking with gas for a while. The third I would recommend is Ex Machina. -
Just to clarify if you've already previously downloaded Test, Beta and Live, does it try to reinstall them again? Or does it just download the launcher and link the necessary COH-related server connections to it?
-
Quote:Which doesn't explain why he's branching out to EVERY other dimension in existence. He might find having Primal Earth heroes arriving in Praetoria to help the Resistance as a useful thing for his propaganda - sort of like the Hamidon is also useful for his propaganda
We're no longer just talking about Primal Earth.
He after the ENTIRE multiverse, where they are MOST CERTAINLY dimensions with entities that can crush him like a bug if he breaths too hard. -

Quote:You're first paragraph was my point. Customization for these Incarnate Pets is unimportant for now, as the REST of non-level 50 only areas that need it aren't done yet. Like PPPs.So if I log in right now I'll get the option to customize my Scorpion Shield, because they kept working on power customization after it was released in an incomplete state?
Adding another pet does nothing but add another pet. For people who don't like pets, that's two Incarnate slots that are now useless to them. For people who don't like Praetorian pets, one of the pets will still be Praetorian. And the Lore slot includes a level shift, which future Incarnate content will be balanced around, so unless another slot gets a level shift that doesn't stack with the Lore slot's level shift you will be gimping yourself by not taking the stupid pet.
If they want to add more pets fine. But I don't think they should delay the slot for it, for it might not just be just that slot that's delayed. -
-
Quote:Also this. For those that want more power prolif think about that for a second.Don't like the pets, but no delay.
A delay means other stuff gets put on the back burner. Since LORE pets are a power that means the powers team is wrapped up redoing LORE and not giving me Illusion Dominators. So no delay.
AGAIN, best option is to release as is and add more later. OR add GENERIC pets as an option to one of the slots after destiny. Stick it on OMEGA if necessary. (Which after issue 20 is no longer that far away.)
-
Quote:I think THIS is larger issue. From what I get from EU testers, Judgement and Lore are linked and Interface and Destiny are linked. It may be delaying MORE than one slot. It could be two.Yes
But not if it will delay the other slots, judgement, interface, and destiny.
EDIT: To be clear I would only delay it if the devs can quickly add more pet option. Which based on what I've seen there is NOTHING quick about building these slots. In addition, the customization option would be a HUGE undertaking.
The BEST option would be to launch and then add additional pets later, who have NOTHING to do with Praetoria.
I really don't think the customization option is critical. Especially since they haven't completed POWER Customization yet. To me it wouldn't make any logical sense to do Incarnate Pet Customization (a fraction of a fraction of AN ENDGAME lvl 50 only system) if you haven't gotten Power Pool/APP/PPP/MM/Kheldian/Granite Customization even started yet and Animation Customization expanded yet.
There are WAAAAAY more areas of the game that need customization before we even start talking about something that ONLY level 50s could enjoy. THAT would piss off a majority of the playerbase. Bad idea.
EDIT2: OR add GENERIC pets as an option to one of the slots after destiny. Stick it on OMEGA if necessary. (Which after issue 20 is no longer that far away. ) -
Quote:The Well will allow her to now super speed (notice I didn't say run) on ceilings, walls, etc.I wonder what horrific running antics Diabolique will get up to if she makes an appearance on an Incarnate Trial? Running's like her signature power, so when the Well of the Furies powers her up, it could get pretty crazy
-
Quote:Yeah like his quick beatdown into a bloody pulp.I think Tyrant's attempt to conquer the multiverse will stir up all kinds of things
So even with all of the power of the Well he can't seem to conquer Primal Earth or stop folks from there coming into his own dimension, but now he wants to try for EVERY dimension?
And people wonder why I think Marcus Cole in ANY dimension is tool.
-
Quote:It could have been fine if it were set up correctly. First step would have been not to stick everything in one building. But that ship has sailed.Goods. AE was a bug and exploit fest and a massive waste of developer resources. A massive, massive misstep for Paragon Studios, and especially it's lead designer at the time.
The exploiting was just cause mmo players suck. -
