Dogface, your big Doom broke the board. Please fix. (Edit: Thank you, Lighthouse)

I am very glad that the "friends" are being blocked by default, not because of any concerns of privacy, but because I am not fond of riding the drama llama and I can see far too may stupid, hateful things being said and done as a result of the choices people make in who they play with and who they choose to keep an eye on.

    [/ QUOTE ]

This is the only thing in your post that I agree with.

I'd like a global opt out button also.

But if not I'm fine with the friends list not being published by default.

    Blaster Damage

i tried Archery but there's no quiver ^^

i'm not saying secondaries are ranged-only, or melee-only or even support-only but secondaries are designed to improve blaster survivability not by enhancing their damage.

if you want to try inferno or blizzard, i'm okay that's really great but not like it was before ED or back when we could kill 50 foes in one nuke. I mean, i still use inferno sometimes cause it's fun and everything but it's definitly reducing my DPS if you consider the end crash. AR Tier 9 is different ^^

i just want to give blasters a damage boost because some scrappers and controllers are outdamaging us and that's just wrong
blasters are supposed to be THE king of ranged massive damage ... that's the only thing they are designed to do ^^

    [ QUOTE ]

The problem is that the design of the At is NOT following this mantra. The recent video elsewhere on this board shows a Blaster using 3 ranged attacks and a slew of melee attacks including Air Sup to destroy a lvl 50 mish set on Invincible with no Insps and (IIRC) she took no damage. This was solo...no outside help in the least... I was and still am stunned by this feat.

    [/ QUOTE ]

    solo ... that's the word.

blasters are not designed to solo mish. they are supposed to hide behind a tank and/or a healer to do massive damage.

and if you want to say : "what if i wanna solo with my blaster?" i'll say : "go play spines, blasters are team oriented"
Defender and Tanker are better in teams so is a blaster

    [/ QUOTE ]

This is completely laughable. Blasters can solo fine.

also blasters are not only kings of ranged damage.

can I see your slotting, pls?

    And yes, MUO is competition.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Not for me it isn't. I'm happily going to say right now: no interest in it (especially if it's developed for Vista lol). If DC produced something at the same quality and type as CO* I might try it out, because I'm more fond of that universe. However, I know perfectly well that if I'm going to be spending 45$ a month (with 3 accounts active) anywhere on the internet, it's going to be RIGHT HERE.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Not to mention if what I've been hearing as rumors about how the game will be set up are true, then I have no interest in MUO at all.

Hmm put that way, one could say it might be a blow for cryptic to lose all that talent, but then again they've been in the game for a while, so they should be ok.

especially with all that MSFT $$$ coming in.

I would assume that most of the CO* people weren't on other projects directly anyway.

    Good point.

Ok, question. Does this mean that Cryptic is no longer going to be developing CoX and that we'll have an all new development team? Or is the new office simply adding extra manpower to the existing development team?

Cryptic is no longer going to be developing CoX. The vast majority of the existing CoX development team will now work for NC Soft in their CoX division.

..... They've moved all the team that wanted to go. That's why I'm not crying too much more dooooom than necessary. They offered everyone on the team jobs, and it looks as though the important bits and many of the less visible team members did take them up on that. So: same dev team, with the same control over their product, only under a different studio name.

That is working for me, I think. I just hope that everyone up the ladder *has learned from the mistakes of other publishers* that usurp - look at the disaster area that was Sony and SWG.

Let's keep things as much the way they are, shall we

Point 2 is always a potential problem >.> So no disagreement there. NCSoft certainly knows MMOs, but their big seller is Lineage...

Point 3 wouldn't bother me much. CoH 2 would presumably be like CoH 1, but BETTER! If we maintain the same quality of free issues, and they start charging us money for BETTER issues (ie, expansions), I won't shed a tear.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Lineage II is bigger than Lineage but only just and BOTH get plenty of updates.

NCsoft has been working hard at diversification away from their sole dependence of the L/LII core. we see CoX, Guild Wars (4 parts now), (Auto Assault), Dungeon Runners, Tablua Rasa.

Up and coming are Aion, Exteel, Guild Wars II (complete new system)

What we dont see in the US/Europe is the 'casual game' portal - as far as I can tell much like the ~$10 games you download from Comcast/MSN. Puzzles simple action games etc. Im not how profitable it is as of now, but it is a key part of the NCSoft growth plans.

A station pass of some sort is much more likely under full ownership.

    [/ QUOTE ]

WOW! How could I forget about Exteel and Aion.

Now THOSE are games I'd definetly sign up for if there was a station pass.

I think a sequel is basically inevitable now. But I don't think the original game will be given lower priority.

Exactly, EQ and EQ2 come to mind. EQ is still going strong.

And if NC Soft creates a multi-game subscription package, then I will happily play both CoH 1 and 2.

    qft.

Hell, I'd even try out lineage and the more traditional mmos.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Lineage 2 disturbs me, somehow. Maybe its the tales I've heard of some of the player interaction, or maybe its just the lingerie elves I'd definitely give a look at most of the rest of what NCSoft has got available if a general pass is created and doesn't cost too much more than what I'm already paying.

Without being overly negative, what possible downsides does this deal have?

    * Some staff may be unwilling or unable to move to the new office.
    * NC Soft bigwigs may usurp more creative control than is healthy for the long-run of the game.
    * A true sequel may be released, making upkeep and new content for the original a lower priority.

Anybody else think of anything? Will my purely hypothetical guesses be debunked?

People with GvE or who simply bought both games separately have already had access to both since the date of purchase, which is our benefit Of course, if they want to give us something additional, like a free month or some other sort of cookie, I won't complain

okay Ex since your fielding questions, does this mean that the ENTIRE City of Heroes and Villans staff is staying on? like say...Jlove, Warwitch, and all the rest?

And this is kind of wishful thinking but since you guys are now officially with NCsoft...does this mean we can have CuppaJo back?

    [/ QUOTE ]

Everyone from the current team signed on with NCsoft, this includes.

    Sexy Jay
    Ghost Widow
    War Witch
    BAB's
    Castle
    Positron
all the programmers and other design staff that are not currently under signature names.

CuppaJo is working on Tabula Rasa and that is a project that she has been on for over a year and is very dedicated and excited about. Not to say she didn't love COH/COV but she made the choice to move to that project and I don't foresee that changing in the near future, especially since they just launched last week.

As for "/no" posts being singled out, I think it should be obvious to anyone who thinks about the situation. It's not like we're running some kind of democracy here where you're voting on these issues; what we're doing is having a conversation and saying "no" is about as childish and argumentative as you can get. If someone said that to me in conversation I'd be baffled and annoyed.

    [/ QUOTE ]
That, however, is not a universally-held opinion. You cannot even (with a straight face) claim to know with any certitude that it is a majority opinion.

    [/ QUOTE ]

I don't understand this because I made four statements in the quote but you don't specify what you're talking about. That's probably because you don't really know what you're saying either. So, if you care to, elucidate me as to which part of the quote you refer.

    [/ QUOTE ]

He is responding to your "it should be obvious to anyone who tinks about the situation." most certainly it is NOT a universally held opinion.

if someone just doesn't like an idea there is no requirment that they explain why.

just as there is no requirement if someone likes an idea.
  18. LOL.

Not to worry all. Just don't respond to suggestions you don't like, if you are afraid of the moderation.

I for one no longer take anything here seriously, since its just for fun. and honestly I stopped thinking the devs did over a year ago.

    hah

Believe me, I know how ya feel

Being told I'm "generally" fine when I know I'm not (and can prove it) is actually quite annoying.

That being said, I think you raise interesting points. I don't think Stone should out-burst-mez any Ice Melee tank. It's simply not right for Ice Melee to sacrifice a tremendous percentage of their DPS and burst damage in order to achieve a mitigation potential that is actually not much higher than Stone's, if indeed it's higher at all. It's quite similar to my Stalker issues; we're suffering DPS for a level of burst damage that is simply not capable of offsetting our weaknesses.

    [/ QUOTE ]

This is the most concise post relating to the issues of Damage versus control i've seen in a while.
