Quote:This is completely and totally incredible. I often get inspired by the costumes I see to try different things and come up with my own spin but I seldom see one I just wish I could rip off outright. Well done.I had made an Ent-ish character just a week or so ago...
And finished him with the Cape and Aura over the weekend.
May re-roll as a Plant/Thorns Dominator and go Blueside, as I messed around with some power customization and was liking the results.
And I won't be ripping it off...but I really do wish I could. -

Man, I've really been neglecting posting stuff up on here. Anyway...
Janet Planet Model Sheet & Janet Planet Hairstyle Sheet by Wassy
Wassy's put this up on her art thread so it may be old news to some of you but I wanted to sing her some praises - she really did a great job bringing the imagined personality and downright dimwittedness to the Janet. She just captured everything perfectly. I haven't really had a chance to put this model sheet into full effect - though I've had a couple artists make use of it - but when I do, it will be such a time saver. I spend so much time on instruction as it is every time I commission an artist, I've actually lost my place in line a couple times. Model sheets are a wonderful thing.
My only regret is that Janet can't look like this in the game. Ah, well...maybe someday.
Oh, and the hairstyle sheet was to give examples to potential artists that Janet has no set iconic hairstyle. As long as it is retro and spacey and red, she can have any hairstyle they like. -
As a starting point for alternate animations, I think this is a great idea. I'd love it if I could choose a tech-based animation for my tech heroes or a spell casting animation for my magic origin heroes. I know some people will say "my magic origin hero doesn't cast spells!" but if you get 5 different animation choices for your powers that are origin-based, one of them will probably work as well if not better than what we have at present.

Quote:First and foremost, please give us some open hand attack animations specifically to be used in conjunction with a "no claws" or "natural claws" option with the claws set. Please. With alternate animations being on the table, the old "closed fist animation" argument against such a choice is no longer valid. One of the projects we are working on is to create more alternate animations for various powers. The animators asked me which powers I wanted to have this applied to and rather than simply come up with a list myself, I thought it would be interesting to open the discussion to you the fans.
Caveat:
Powers with Alternate Animations will still have nearly the exact same Animation Lengths, so this thread is not about creating shorter animations for various powers.
So, let's hear it! Tired of doing Backflips with Eviscerate? Sick of beating your chest like Tarzan? Eyebeams not your cup of tea? Tell us about it!
I may come up with many more of these but for the rest of this post, I'm going to focus on the Broadsword. We have a lot of great options for weapons customization with this set but it is a reality that the forms for these various weapons aren't really the same so I figure why not give us alternate animations based on the various choices. If you mix and match animations, you could really create unique styles of blade handling.
Examples:
Chinese Broadsword: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kxNZsIPlOSg
Chinese Dao: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LU0RhruNwdc
Chinese Jian: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=88XLM...eature=related
Additionally, I'd love to see fencing swords added to our choices with animations based on those movements. Fencing seems more about stabbing than slashes but the posing and the sword flourishes would make for some interesting animations.
Example: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gRTl8...eature=related
Fight doesn't really start until about 1:58.
Additionally, I wasn't able to find a very good example but I know that techniques for scimitars are quite different than western swords. Some animations for those would be wonderful and would likely work well for a number of the other options.
I'd love to see these additions to the game and the promise of mixing animations for various attacks could make for some fairly unique fighting styles. Thanks for asking! -

Take 3! Same color scheme this time and I tried to do something with flame patterns since I was digging the way some of the other entries looked.
The bare arms and gloves were an effort to make this effort a little more "tanker chick" in its design. I really do wish we could have patterns AND skin. I tried the hair with a little bit of gray to it since LJ kind of seemed to like the long flowing gray locks. -
Quote:Yeah, that whole contest really turned my sleepy little dA page into a hub of activity. I could barely keep up with my stacks from the people I watch...now I have the new addition of notes and messages. I'm not sure I'll do this again...but it's kind of fun and some serious contenders are starting to appear....yea with all that DA stuff goin' on "HAPPY BIRTHDAY" buddy!!!

The most street greeting I've ever gotten. And I once spent a birthday in South Central.
The most accurate. Thank you.
This, coincidentally, is how I insist friends and admirers refer to my birthday.
This is how my mother always referred to my birthday.
Quote:Gaaaah, damn you CR. Now I gotta go think of something new.
Mirthful Revelation of the Mortal Coils Moment! -
The day was a very good one. Thank you all very much.

Take Two! Just a little color switch since there were a lot of similar shades of blue being thrown around and LJ told me that she didn't much care for it.
Regarding all the blue and the use of scales for that matter, I sent links to my first effort from dA and found out about the thread then. I didn't even know there was a thread. Weird that so many people went the blue route.
Here, Judgment do not want!
I went with kind of a magenta to suggest a warmer color but still stay on a dark palette. I may try to play around with some flames because I'm digging some of the other takes. I still like spandex superheroes though and probably won't add much in the way of bulky accessories. -

I went out and did a little pre-birthday celebrating and now I can't sleep...so I tried my hand at a little Lady J re-designing. It deserves mentioning that I totally missed the no spandex rule but I was told to submit here anyway since it was going to be lifted. If I'd seen that rule, I probably wouldn't have done a design - I love the classic spandex superhero look.
My general idea was not to stray too far from the original costume but to give it different color palette and pattern. I figure she was designed the way she was designed originally for a reason and I tried to keep those elements: Covered eyes, covered skin. I gave her the scales symbol because I thought you might be able to combine it with a stylized J for a unique symbol in art. The sword is white-blue because it burns that damn hot.
Oh, and the white gloves are for some of that Hal Jordan flair!
Enjoy! -
I've skipped getting any of my characters Sanchezed (sounds dirty) in spite of the deal because I just don't feel like any of them are all that distinctive from the shoulders up. Oh, I'm sure some of them are but it just hasn't clicked for me.
Airhead, by contrast, was made for the big close-up! It looks great! -
Awesome piece from BAKART, CH! He never really disappoints. I like how he gave a nice raised seam on the costume. Gives it some texture.

Quote:LOL my fiance is actually drooling over Sparrow. He always did like the mysterious type. -
Quote:Thanks for taking part! I'm glad we could get this one done...he really did a great job. You just love it because Ghost looks the most awesome...floating there all cosmically.[Ghost Comet Here]: Checked my e-mail because I was up late fixing a bug in my iPad and what do I find! Wow! I am simply amazed! Adding the pic to show to my brother, the official comic bug in the family. Maybe I can finally get him in to play the game with this *smiles* Great catch Attache and thank you again!

All-Star Sexy Sentinels by Jocachi
I went back to Jose Cano again for this one and brought a few of my friends in tow. I have to say that his reasonable prices become even more reasonable when you split the bill five different ways. He was really accommodating to us and willing to go back and tweak things to satisfy all parties involved. He's got my recommendation.
We have a couple pastiches in there but overall, I think it's a pretty cool group shot.
As always, clicking the picture takes you to my dA page. You can get the the artist from there.
EDIT: Per Caem's request, from left: Strong Girl, Allie Khazam, Ghost Comet, Liberta (my character), and Night Sparrow! I actually thought I put in the roll call here too but I guess it was just on dA. Anyway, a great bunch of players. -
Dashboard Daleks may be a million dollar idea.
And, obviously, it crashed through the window when things started to collapse. -
So far, I like Airhead's theory the best.

Quote:That's no Dalek. It's a console...that just happens to look like a Dalek. And the Dalek just stands by, watching? Where's the 'Exterminate'?
I would have rather the Dalek be a little less obvious but we had a color correction to do on Epoch and since the rest of it looked so awesome, I let it slide. I didn't explicitly say to hide it and kind of thought it would be implied due to the previous BTT commission. What I forgot is that Bakart's world doesn't revolve around me and my characters and he probably didn't remember.
