  1. Hey everyone!

I made a Shield/Elec Melee Tank a year ago. I came back from a long break and decided I'd invest in this baby. She's Level 47 ATM, with a couple Level 50 IO sets, nothing terrific. I'm aiming for survability, as I love tanking.. She's currently @ 46% positional defense, with around 40% S/L resistance. I'm currently pretty poor but I have a fully IO'ed Fire/Kin who's able to farm pretty well. I'm aiming @ a maximum of 1B as a budget. I know that's a pretty tight budget but I'm pretty sure you can squeeze some pretty good mods out of cheaper IO's.

I'm mainly looking for advices from experienced Shield/Elec, as I haven't found much information regarding this specific combo. What's a big no-no with this combo? Is there any way to hit "Awesome" without breaking the bank? Which Alpha slot would you recommend, considering my budget? Where's Waldo?

    Thank you :-)

P.S : If you could post a Mid's thingy of you current build/suggested build, I'd be more than happy to take a look at it.

I was thinking the same thing but then again, most of Regen powers are Toggle or Auto. Any suggestions on Dull Pain//Reconstruction?
  3. Hey!

I made a couple toons a while back, mostly FotM toons like a Fire/Kin, Stone/Stone tank and such. I came back from a long break and decided I'd play something fun with my brother, who's a SS/Shield Brute.

I went with Spines/Regen, being familiar with Spines. I read a lot about it and learned which powers to avoid and which ones I should definately take. However, I didn't get much luck into finding suggestions regarding power slotting. One word that comes into mind when slotting is "Softcap". I know I should hit as high as possible defense caps but I dunno what combination of sets would achieve that goal. Or am I completely mistaken, considering Regen isn't REALLY a Defense powerset?

I'll play mostly with my brother, who's using his SS/Shield Brute. I'm guessing he'll be able to do enough damage to keep aggro but my little pinky says I'll out-damage him...What do you think? Regarding budget, I have about 700m sitting on my Fire/Kin and plan onto getting more as soon as this Scrapper can take on TF's.

Thanks a lot for any advice you can bring!

TL;DR : plz halp slot my scrapper!
  4. Personnaly, I reall enjoy playing my Fire/Kinetic. She's 50 now but she was a lot of fun to play early on too. Of course, you're not getting the badass powers like FS and Transference until 35, which is when you start killing stuff, but if you want damage, I don't think Fire is the way to go. Sure, it rocks with FS damage-capped but I think Fire is more about Holding your target and slowly burning it down. The holds are nice when solo'ing plus you get the Fire Imps at 32

Like someone else said, it's a safe set but not the funniest to play if you don't want to invest time in it.
  5. Next step, they need to allow us to customize EVERY single power pool. I hate having all my Fire Powers purple/pink and FireBall turns out orange/yellow

Beside, Rock Armor looks butt-ugly if you can't edit it

    We want more editing power!!!
  6. Saw FKM today
He's got a new build. He dumped the entire Fitness pool. Dumped Hasten. Took Ring Of Fire + Air Superiority + Smoke.

Had about 45 minutes of laughs

He also told me Hasten + Fitness pool was for noobs.

    I had so much fun
  7. Thanks for the suggestions. It seems everyone puts an End Redux in Hot Feet - I can see why now!

One quick question : Do the Procs from Obliteration + Impeded Swiftness stack or the second would be useless?

I'll post more questions as I got them coming

  9. I will try those suggestions. I experienced a funny bug today. I had 50.06% S/L defense and after I removed Neuronic Shutdown from Charr, it went down to 43,82% :-P. Fun thing is NS only gives 1.25% S/L :-P

    Anyway, I still need help.

Sounds to me like he needed to find 40% S/L from IO's, but I'm tired and might have missed out on something really obvious.
Actually, you can hit around 30%'ish S/L defense with Rock Armor alone, if not higher. My Fire/Kinetic is softcapped (46.7% S/L defense) and I didn't really have to TRY and FIND S/L IO's, beside Kinetic Combat which is a huge 3.75% S/L defense bonus. It's possible to hit 70%+ at the cost of effectiveness/damage/accuracy/credibility but nodoby is that stupid...beside this kid, I mean.

He probably lives in his own little world.

If I was him, I'd cut the entire Fire Mastery Pool. I mean, he's so awesome, he could kill with his awesomeness. He's obviously the next Chuck Norris. Who needs Fire Cages and Cinders anyway? N00bs,that's who!

Beside, he can't cut Fire Imps. That's the only company he'll ever get on his runs since nobody wants to play with a Broadcast Spammer.
  15. He's trying to prove how genius he is.

Next step : Cutting Fulcrum Shift from the attack chain!

Beside, I know it already has been posted but I'll post it again.

    Quote:
Defense. +45% is the soft cap on Defense versus an attack. Due to the way the game's Attack Mechanics work, any more Defense past that will not make the character any harder to hit, except in cases where the attackers have ToHit buffs, are six or more levels above him, or can give him -Defense debuffs.
Basically, going over 45% S/L defense is USELESS <<UNLESS>> the foes you are fighting have Defense-Debuff. In this case, you can go a little over softcap to ensure you're still at 45% after Debuff. 75% is WAY too much. It's not only useless, it also makes your other skills WEAKER. Basically, you seem to survive more ( Which isn't the case, actually) but you are also killing SLOWER since your whole attack chain is gimped. In conclusion, you plain suck because you are wasting important slots to achieve something which is completely useless.

Maybe someone can translate in his language so he can actually understand the whole paragraph?

    Anybody speaks n00b fluently?

  18. Hey all!

I'd like to know what's a good AT combination to play with if I want an All-Around Scrapper. I do mainly AE farm + TF sometimes. I already own a Spines/Fire Scrapper but I feel the damage is kinda low. I'm planning to spend about 1B on him, maybe more if I REALLY enjoy playing it. I need something fairly simple to play, basically a chain+pick up loot+rinse and repeat combo, if possible. I've heard good things about Elec/Shield Scrappers but I can't seem to find builds about those in the forums.

Thx again for the help all.

p.s. Purples are not on my radar in the foreseeable future. Even Absolute Amazement(Freedumb) is going for like 50million a piece.

I would slot for damage but with FS, you'll hit damage cap pretty fast. I've got mine slotted for Recharge/Damage + Procs.

Beside, another ''noob'' question if you will : Is there any way to do a BM farm AFTER you have completed it? I know there's the ''Defeat Battle Maiden + Guards + Destroy the weapons'' one but I also saw a ''Save The Village'' which was pretty similar. The only difference is you get to defuse bombs instead of finding a weapon... Any idea of how to get it?
  21. Why did the posting stop? I come here for my dose of daily laughs and IT'S ALL GONE!!!

    Why?

    :'(
  22. I seriously laughed...Is it 12 minutes for the first foe or 12 minutes for the whole run? 12 minutes to get from the entrance to the first mob, maybe?

You managed to take over 45 minutes on 2 groups when I ran with you. I doubt you did this in 12 minutes, honestly.
  23. Hey all! I tried looking around for a Shield//Elec build so I could tell where it was all heading but I couldn't seem to find anything.

I would like to know if this specific build is viable in solo//farm and is it decent for teamplay? Also, if you have a build somewhere, I'd be more than happy to take a look at it. I already own a Stone/Stone tank but Shield/Elec seems to be a different approach and I don't want to screw everything up.
  24. Still looking for suggestions :-P
