Personally I think they should turn on every event ever and leave them running until the end.
Double XP
Halloween
Summer Blockbuster
Winter/New Years
Valentines
Ritki Invasion
Zombie Invasion
Zombie Ritki Invasion
You know....every event all at the same time. And the Nightmare Zombies need to be 200ft tall again, that was amazing.
I will miss the game and I've already logged in for the last time because it's sad to know that my first MMO will soon be gone. I don't regret spending money on the game or all the paragon points I bought. I just wish the game would have stayed around longer. I've only been playing since Going Rogue and it has indeed been a great ride. I love City and hope for the best for everyone at Paragon Studios. I love you guys, you're the best. -
That makes lots of sense. I'll keep trying then and if he doesn't spawn I'll look around the entire zone using my macro button to see if I can find him anywhere.
I appreciate the replies and hope to catch the skeevy ghost sometime soon. -
Back in December I would at least get a zone message that he'd appear even though he never did. I filed three different reports about this when this was happening.
I have been told "If you want to find Caleb, leave some Spectral Daemons alive and follow them to Caleb. Hes hard to spot against the gray skies in Nerva, but if you follow the Spectral Daemons, he can be found."
Then when I told a GM that I did leave some Daemons alive but they didn't go anywhere, I was told that the regular spawns won't flock to him as he has his own followers. I was also told "If the demons do not flock to him, that means you have not killed enough yet. Once you have killed enough, then they will flock to him."
But then when I asked "So when the zone event message pops up and says that "Caleb has been spotted" does this mean he really HASN'T appeared and I have to continue killing daemons?"
To which the reply was "No, that means he has spawned, keep in mind he spawns in the air, not on the ground. You would have to A. Hunt for him, or B. Kill enough demons that they spawn to him. But he has spawned when you see that message."
And of course I knew that, but the system did tell me he had spawned, but he never did appear (or I guess I never looked hard enough). I have even used a Macro button to try and find him but I was never able to find him.
Now, it seems the zone message doesn't appear when 100+ Nerva Daemons were killed during the day on Thorn Isle. (Yes, I kept count as I checked the server time just before I started killing so I could keep track in the chat log of how many Daemons I killed.) I counted that I killed 176 Daemons, & 84 Daemon Lords, for a total of 260 during the daytime hours, from sunrise to sunset, on Thorn Isle, In Nerva. According to the Wiki it only takes 100. (http://paragonwiki.com/wiki/Caleb) And having killed 260 myself, and my teammate killing at least 100 on his own during this same time period, I am fairly certain that something has gone amiss in the game code and this Giant Monster spawn is broken and needs to be looked into.
Is there a problem with the spawning? If someone spawned (and killed) Caleb sometime shortly before I logged into the game, would he spawn again if I killed enough of the Daemons, or is there something in the coding that says that he can only be spawned once per day?
Another GM did tell me: "I checked server logs and confirmed that Caleb spawned twice over the past three days on Exalted, but not on Feb. 25 or Feb. 28. As far as I can tell, he does spawn, but is intentionally hard to find."
Intentionally hard to find, is fine, I don't want everything to be easy to do, but me trying to get Caleb to spawn and appear has been quite frustrating, and I really want to kill Caleb repeatedly now, not just for the badge, but out of spite. -_-
Suggestions, help, ideas, any comments at all are more than welcome.
Thank you all kindly for any info you can give me.

(And I have read the posting rules regarding posting private correspondence and specifically asked the GM I was talking with about this after I was pointed to the forums and was told "That rule is put in place to discourage ranting about suspensions and the like. As long as you can maintain a certain level of civility then there should be no issue." I have no issue with anyone who has helped me thus far, I just want to be able to find Caleb for myself and make others aware that if they can't find him, it's not just them.) -
Quote:I would love it if you would come with me and help. I've been hunting on exalted and besides my husband I don't have many in game friends. This is why I've been hunting solo. I hate to bother people I dont know. The one time I did try to get a team together I only managed one person besides the husband and we still never found him. My global is Khani and I'm on almost every day. Thanks again.Sorry, but you are dead wrong, or at the least misguided. Each and every time I have gone about spawning and finding and (almost all of the time) taking him down; I have been successful. It's not hard to spawn him, but it can be a stone cold ..... to find him and keep track of him. I use the standard Hunt macro and feel it is necessary because of how and where he usually spawns and how easy he is to lose. In fact, if I hear someone talking about hunting him I will come and join the hunt to ensure success.
Just last month we had a rotating team that spawned and hunted him 3 or 4 times in a row one day. He's not hard to spawn, but a bear to find. If you need a hand and I have a toon that can help on your Server; I would be willing to help. -
I have contacted support on this issue and they've been no help whatsoever. They have basically recited what is in the wiki regarding how to make Caleb appear. I have read the page in the wiki a number of times.
Here's what I'm doing:
I go to Nerva, go to Thorn Isle, wait until daytime and begin killing daemons. I kill them all "day" long. There's no telling how many I've killed (I don't count). The sun sets in Nerva, the zone event message pops up in my chat box that "The Demon Caleb has been spotted..." I've left some nerva daemons alive so that I can follow them to Caleb. But guess what, the daemons don't go anywhere. They just sit there, floating around. Regardless, when I have gotten that message after killing hundreds of nerva daemons, I have put on my jet pack and fly high above thorn isle. I search all over thorn isle (in the air of course as I know he spawns high above the island). I search all (in-game) night long all over thorn isle. Caleb does not really appear after I get the zone event message. I have tried it and gotten the zone event message on five separate occasions (with days or weeks in between because it's frustrating doing this only to find nothing) and I'm about to give up. I guess I'm just not meant to get that badge because there is something wrong.
I wish I was making this up, but it's frustrating when you see the zone event message, then hunt all over the place above thorn isle only to find nothing, and then the sun rise again without ever having seen a glimpse of Caleb.
Am I doing something wrong or is something wrong with the game?
Please Help! I want this badge so I can finally go back Heroside and work on the rest of the badges. -
I've been having all of these same issues today. Thought it was maybe an issue with my computer so I defragged, cleaned up the drive, updated everything and still wound up crashing after lots of frustrating lag. Before today CoH has never crashed. But it would completely lock up during a mission and I'd have to force quit. After two crashes and ridiculous lag I've given up on playing today. I hope it gets fixed soon.
Server: Virtue
* The buff icons were not appearing
* Powers took forever to activate
* The powers would still have the circle around them as though they were being activated (so I'd have five of them going at once)
* Animation for powers wouldn't go, but I'd hear the sound effects.
* And after lots of lag the game would eventually completely lock up then crash.
And of course, I go and take a screenshot with Netgraph on and it works just fine:
