1. This is probably the best reply I've heard:

"I feel ya. I fondly recall the days when Infinity would be full of life. It seemed you'd never pass Atlas without seeing at least 20 some odd players standing around. CC's all the time, broadcasts a plenty and blind invites like crazy.

Those days are gone sadly. Getting some of the forum regulars to ADMIT that though is nearly impossible. Mainly because they are so 'head in the sand' with their own tiny tight nit groups that they don't even notice. When their long time SG's start leaving is when they realize times have changed.

Years ago the easy answer about finding teams was forming them yourself. This just isn't as easy as it used to be. Though they wouldn't know because they only team with friends...

See the pattern?

I miss those days. I'm a member of Paragon City Search and Rescue. We were formed alongside the Taxibots as a paramedic service for Heroes. We used to patrol Atlas and Hollows doing drive by heals and offering rez etc. Was so much fun. These services just aren't as needed in todays game though, so much of the old theme groups, the bots, PCSAR and the like are still around, we just aren't needed in those rolls nowdays.

The claim that this game is instanced so it just feels empty holds no water either. This game has always been instanced. Doesn't change the fact that the streets are empty now...

Anyways, just wanted to chime in and let you know you aren't alone in the feeling. Though I doubt a merge would do much to help. In fact, the grumpy ol vets are probably right about that one fact. Merging servers would be seen by players and industry at large as the death notice and I'd expect to see players jumping ship as a result.
Alas, now that the endgame is here (and not for me) this game is heading into it's twilight.

Hopefully this means they are hard at work on the follow up game though! I needs my Paragon after all. "

3. Name: Shadow Dragon University for Gifted Villains

Hero or Villain side:Villain

Concept: An X-Men style twist for the villains of the world. Players are ranked from Freshman, Sophmore, Junior, Senior, and then they can opt to become Professors. Players will need their costumes in addition to a school uniform. It's not a specific uniform, just presentable clothing to appear "normal". But we all know, no one is ever truely "normal", are they?

Most Active RP Night / Scheduled Night: Friday and Saturday nights

Leadership Global Names: Rial13

Coalition Partners: None (Yet)

Website: None (Yet)

Other Info: Still a new SG, but one I'm really looking forward to putting together. I've only founded one really successful SG before and that was the Celestial Vanguard (Hero Side) back in 2007. I intended to make this a Roleplay Group initially, but we're also dedicated to bringing back the Team Play aspect to the game. We're looking for decently active members (At least online once a month... I mean, that's what you subscribe for...) who LOVE team play. Also, skilled architects to make missions and storylines just for the SG. Anyone who's interested, don't hesitate to send me a message on the forums or use my Global Name up above to catch me in-game. My main is Psionic Flare.
4. Roleplay on the Infinity tends to be a hidden creature. Please use this thread if your Roleplaying SG is recruiting. To discuss Infinity roleplaying in general, please use this thread.

6. I don't frequent the forums, so I don't know if this has been talked about before, but I spoke with someone online today about how everyone who plays COH is a Veteran. There really aren't any new players and recruiting new players is difficult because COH doesn't advertise anymore. It's not on TV, it doesn't do much on Facebook, and I don't even know about Twitter.

One of the best aspects of this game besides the impressive character customization selection, is the team play aspect. The more players you have on a team, the better. This is an outstanding game, people just don't really know about it. That being said, I think it'd be a good idea if COH hyped up one of its best aspects, team play, by shutting down some of the lesser populated servers. Give people a grace period to move their toons to whichever servers will remain active, and consolidate all of their players onto fewer servers. With more people playing together, the few new players that come to the game, will STAY with the game. With a bunch of people staying with COH, word will get around about how great a game this is AND it'll have the content to back up said claims for people who are just observing. They'll see plenty of Super Heroes and Super Villains (and anywhere in between) playing together or against each other and decide, "Hey, I wanna do that too!"

As it is now, I can talk up this game to some friends (Or people I don't know, as I work at GameStop) and convince them to get the game. They hear me talk about the vast character customization, expansive maps, impressive super power selection, and the changing of sides from Hero to Villain and back again with everything in the middle, and then they want to see it for themselves. What they get is a subscription to the game, a really long update time, and then when they finally do pick a server, create a character, and get in the fight, they find that they're accomplishing mission after mission solo style. It's a level 3, lost and alone in big, bad Paragon City with too many level 50s flying around to stop and help them out. They'll get bored because they can't find anyone their level to play with, and when they do find someone to play with (by chance) that person runs through everything pretty much without any help because they've got Veteran upgrades out the wazoo. The only thing the team play may have going for it now is the funny conversations you may have with people as they destroy stuff for you.

Now, I've been playing for a long time, and I still love this genre and this game. I remember when people did costume contests under the Statue of Atlus. I remember when you couldn't get away from people broadcasting for new members to join their SG. I remember when SG members used to run around in matching costumes. I remember when there were a couple of SGs that operated Taxi Services and Tours that would team teleport a group to all the exploration badges on a map AND give them background information about the landmarks in the game! I remember when I was teaming with a crew and we were on a mission that was too hard, so we would call in favors with online SG members and if that didn't work, we went to the Coalition. I remember when SG leaders would hold online parties in their base for newbies to meet everyone and for coalition members to come say hello. I remember forming sewer teams to quickly get out of the lower levels. I remember hanging out at the Arachnos base looking for fellow lowbies to help me clear out some snakes. I remember all of these great moments in COH history in the past 7 years of Super and I want it back!

Shut down some of the lesser populated servers and consolidate players and characters. Let the good times roll! Remember, if the servers grow too populated again, you could always just open another server back up!
