I really hate how AE is TF style so that it auto levels people to level 50 or whatever the AE mission is set for. These new players have no clue how broken their builds are.
I agree. So many people i have run across in AE missions haven't a clue as to what their purpose on the team is. Why choose to be a Tank, pay no attention to shields and be absolutely incapable of comprehending Agro management and then have the nerve to berate the controller who is forced to use hurricane and tornado just to stay alive, or curse out the Peacebringer for knockback ( we both immediately quit). What possible use is an Empath, who gets to level 40 and only has one healing power (un-enhanced), no rez and only single target buffs- and who every 2 or 3 minutes YELLS, in broadcast, "SOMEONE REZ ME, REZ ME, REZ ME, REZ ME!!!!? I absolutely hate abandoning a team during a mission for any reason. However, more often than not, i have been forced to leave in the middle of AE missions due to this kind of idiocy.

And at least your way - you will have some experience playing in the 'real' world of COH.
I feel exactly the same. I started playing this game just under two years ago, and at the time my only access was by using my (soon to be ) husbands account from my sick bed. He had tired of, what his friends convinced him was, "The same old missions and villains" and defected to WOW. I fell in love (and hate) with Paragon City and all of it's villains, and scenic out of the way spots. ( Nothing like hovering across the hollows for 30-40 minutes only to die on the first troll you attack and be forced to start all over). But it taught me some invaluable things about the game and my toons abilities, and made me a better player. It only took me a little over a month to get to 50, ( but i had a lot of time on my hands and was obsessed with everything about the game). But i did it pretty much the old fashioned way- with groups of people who loved the game also and , more importantly, were happy to guide and teach me how to be a better player. I still play with just about every one of those people to this very day. I don't have any real issue with AE other than that it has created an army of players who have no idea how to be team mates, or in anyway "heroic".
Also, I thought that one of the main reasons AE was created was to have the people who love and play the game be an integral part in creating new content. Content that would be integrated into the over-all story line of the game if and when possible. How exactly would you incorporate, a bunch of copyright infringed, pseudo Marvel Superheroes, or level 53 (only) Uber bosses-possessing every possible power set in the game, that can also Multi Nuke ( in seconds) and rez ad infinitum into the City Of Heroes framework?
