I know several people that sometime have to work on the weekends and with a little more future notice they might be able to ask for time off in order to participate. I for one think the would be an excellent idea. This is not the 1970's, when most people worked Monday thru Friday at 9-5 jobs. Times have changed, there is a large majority of the population that works on weekends or works odd shifts like 12-18 days that may even fall on weekend days. So a midweek envent say perhaps Tuesday thru Thursday may appease that faction of the player base.
I do think these events are great and are a very nice gesture. I have played other games have have offered other similar short term treats and appreicate the value of them.
Perhaps even having 2 weekend and 2 midweek events per year would work. I know you can't make everybody happy. I also realize if these events are held too often it cheapens the game. And as alot of us know the game is filled with alot of cheap (unearned) 50's
