No they don't they only like to make a mess so the brute gets butthurt!!!1one

In all seriousness, and to quote Penn & Teller (is there ever a BAD time to quote them?):
That's [censored]! (direct quote there)

And please explain how a brute needs to adapt to their mob being scattered across the whole map.
[/ QUOTE ]
And here is the problem, bolded for emphasis. It's not the brute's mob. The team is not there to make sure the brute can play the way he wants. Once you get past your ego issue maybe you will be able to see how ridiculous it is to tell one AT to use a playstyle designed solely to benefit another AT.
Off to roll a Bots/Storm MM, and slot for KB.
[/ QUOTE ]
From experience... you won't really need to slot much.
Maybe just one or two powers here and there (Do Tornado and Hurricane even take KB enhancers?). Most of the leverage you can get with just Gale (I've had more then one team boggle at me galeing mobs into each other so I had a perfect clump for Freezing Rain and any missiles my Assault Bot wanted to fire off - go figure, Bot/Storm MMs love tight clumps of mobs too). -
[ QUOTE ]
Seriously, you think most people who play this game even KNOW what keybinds and stuff are? I'm not disputing the fact that they are helpful and should be used, but I guarantee a majority of MM players aren't up to learning it and implementing it into the game. You have to be realistic and not expect everyone to play the way you want them to (you see what I did there?).
And please explain how a brute needs to adapt to their mob being scattered across the whole map.
[/ QUOTE ]
Ah. So you much prefer to just hypocritically rant, then actually engage in a serious discussion on the matter. Fair enough, then, I suppose.
I'll busy myself with more productive discussions (or not - I am rather prone to trolling).
Continue baselessly insulting people, though. -
[ QUOTE ]
Ok, let me [do nothing but go on the defensive and shoot my post through with emotional drivel that dilutes my point].
[I am aware of what herding is, and was misquoted partially due to context]. [I am aware of how to play a Brute, and the mechanics involved with Fury. I tailor my playstyle around that, and am frustrated when I feel other players are (no matter how wrong my assertion is) actively trying to make it impossible for me to play one as I feel they should be].
[I try to force my way into a leadership position and manage everything around me] [except when certain characters come in and ruin my fun]. [I have experience with masterminds to level 10, and have found them not to my liking], and [without doing anything to try and make myself an effective player. I personally feel that keybinding and macros are essentially useless, and anyone using them is overcomplicating the game despite the fact that it may make up for failures in the AI coding. I dislike people that tell me I should use them, even if it would improve my effectiveness, as it would not improve my ability to enjoy that AT].
[/ QUOTE ]
Fixed that up a bit for you, though perhaps far more snarkily then I intended (not that your original post was exactly the height of polite discussionary form). Did I miss anything, or would you like to dispute something I may have misconstrued given how you worded things?
I'd really like to make sure we're on the same page before I start formulating a rebuttal. -

I'd still like my answers, Mr. Butane.

And I'd still like developers who don't force outdated MMO conventions into a genre they don't belong.
It doesn't look like we'll be getting either here.

That's because Khelds are chained to the 'ideal team' setup more than any other AT in the game. To reach anything like their full potential, they MUST have as much AT variety on their team as possible. They get nothing from being around other Khelds.
Replace their inherent, and I think Kheldian performance and popularity would improve in a dramatic fashion.
[/ QUOTE ]
Fixed recently - they get Recharge Reduction now.
[/ QUOTE ]
Actually, they get 10% recharge resistance (makes rech debuffs less painful) not a recharge reduction (makes powers cycle faster). Better than nothing, but nowhere near as good as what they get from some other ATs imo.
[/ QUOTE ]
Ah! Faux pas on my part, then.
I never get a chance to test it out, I so rarely ever team with other Khelds (on those rare occasions I play mine). -
[ QUOTE ]
At no time did I claim I was attempting to describe how to play a l33t MM or even a good MM. My advice was on how to play a MM without alienating or marginalizing other players. I simply described steps a MM can take to help mitigate the unpleasantness that results from the presence of their rampaging minions.
[/ QUOTE ]
Honestly? I believe the best way to play the AT without marginalizing or alienating other players would be... learning how to properly and effectively manage your powers and pets. It may sound shocking, but it doesn't really require a lot of effort (hell, even I can do it, and I hate micromanagement - that's why I only have one Mastermind).
You shouldn't leave your pets in any one specific mode for any length of time - unless it's Bodyguard mode and you're tanking (and at that point it's best to make sure everyone is aware and cool with you doing it; I've asked every Brute I've ever teamed with if they were cool tanking, and if not, I'd do my best and would appreciate if they picked up any slack.*). Learn how to manage your pets - when it's best to have them in what mode, the time it takes for them to transition from one mode to the next, and what macros/keybinds you need to make and use to be effective (or how to manage the Advanced pet window if you don't want to use macros/keybinds - that's how I learned what I needed).
Don't actively do things that may gimp you, and get yourself stuck into bad habits that can and will cause you to underperform. Learn to play your AT effectively - it's the same deal for anyone on the team, Masterminds are not unique or special in this area. You don't tell the Brute to dumb down they're game, you don't give the same bad advice to anyone else. It's ridiculous.
(*Sidepoint: For the love of Mike, people, learn to freakin' communicate with your teams! If you have an issue with someone on your team, talk to them politely [and preferably privately] about it and work it out so that you're not stepping on each other's toes. It's not that hard. You'd do it on the job or at a recreational sport you play, wouldn't you? Why is it so hard to assume you don't have to in a multi-player game? Argh!
...This has nothing to do with the majority of the post, it's just me ranting. That's why it's a sidepoint. I apologize in advance.) -

I gotta go with the OP. I dislike grouping with MMs. (especially Thugs MMs). That said, having a top quality player at the helm makes a huge difference.
Here's a few things you can do that will make you less reviled.
- in a full group, don't bother summoning your tier one pets - they are probably just going to get in the way. When the inevitable SHTF (stuff hits the fan) moment occurs, pull them out. They will arrive in defensive mode and save your hiney.
[/ QUOTE ]Doesn't work for Ninja MMs. The Genin are the real beasts there.
[ QUOTE ]
- Keep your pets on Ignore. That way, when the Corrupter who can't sit still snipes some guy and he responds with an AOE attack, your pets don't go tearing off across the room and screw up the pull.
[/ QUOTE ]I'm not getting eaten alive just to not "screw up the pull". The pets are on defensive, end of story. It's called "corner pulling" for a reason, and if you just haul off and snipe before letting people get around the corner, you botched the pull, not the others.
[ QUOTE ]
- During the fight, keep your guys on Ignore. This allows YOU to control who they are damging.
[/ QUOTE ]Hell no, that's the quickest way for an MM to eat dirt.
[ QUOTE ]
- You know those attack powers you have in your primary. Save those powers for soloing. They do next to no damage. Using them will only result in some enraged mob punching you in the face.
[/ QUOTE ]Okay, this makes sense....
[ QUOTE ]
Since your guys are not in Defensive mode, you can't afford to be punched in the face.
[/ QUOTE ]Why don't you just tell the stalker and brute to turn off their armors? That's what your advice is so far.
[ QUOTE ]
- Do not assist the Brute. He does not want (or need) your help.
[/ QUOTE ]Do not assist the MM. He does not want, or need, your help.
[ QUOTE ]
- Focus on the mobs that are standing off and using ranged attacks. See that guy off to the side healing mobs. Kill him. Let the Brute deal with the scrum.
[/ QUOTE ]Can I have your global so I can avoid teaming with someone who wants MMs to do pretty much jack [censored]?
[ QUOTE ]
- When the Brute bites off more than he can chew and goes down in a hail of gunfire. That is your moment to shine. Forget everything I just said and save the day. Then heap scorn on the brute. Mock him as he begs you for a 'green or an orange' so he can make a wakie. Then give him the green, and rez him before he can combine them. Then mock him some more.
[/ QUOTE ].... Or actually play well, contribute, and keep people from dying in the first place. You know, being a good team player instead of following the worst MM advice I've ever seen.
[/ QUOTE ]
Torn apart very well. That was awful advice.
[/ QUOTE ]
Seconded.
My sole MM is Bot/Storm. By all rights, I should be a KB-holic, and a brute/stalker's worst nightmare.
I get more 'Holy [censored]!'s in regards to how easy things are around me, then I do complaints about my play style.
Peculiar. -
[ QUOTE ]
Why in the name of all things holy would you link to TVTropes! You didn't even put a warning on it!!!
EVIL! EVIIIIIILLLLLL!!!
[/ QUOTE ]
Just as planned!
Or so I assume. -
That's the reference I used - though now I can see that it's not Metallic for the top/bottom...
Basically, it's a mid-dark blue with a V top, the Tech Banded boots/gloves, a Reaper mask, and the Tactical 2 belt (I think - it's the one with the line of same-size pouches). Rest of the headgear is a Bald Full Mask with Techno goggles (iirc).
I use it on my Voidspider Huntress (though now I'm gonna have to rework that costume D: ).
EDIT: I'll post an update shot on her in a bit.
Further EDIT: Lost quality making it a gif, but oh well. Included what parts I used to fix it. Colors are probably the hardest to match, honestly. -
[ QUOTE ]
Eh, I guess herd isn't the correct word to use, so sorry if I confused people. I just charge right into the middle of a mob and wait for them to all come within melee range and then start the AoEs.
[/ QUOTE ]
I'd rather like you to expound on this for a bit, if you would. Are you not attacking (or Taunting - you silly brute!) at all during this period, or are you actively trying to manage aggro at this point? If the former, then that can be a huge issue. If the latter, we move on to part B of my response.
What kind of MMs are you frequently playing with? Going purely off memory here, but the only ones that should be giving you any serious grief at all are Bots/* or */Storm masterminds, and in the latter case (there's not a lot to be done in the former, sadly), that's entirely poor play on their part (or part of an ingenious aggro-management strategy in my case - but I'm CRAZY! ). And maybe the occasional */Traps and */Forcefield. Other then that, though, I think the majority of Mastermind sets don't spread things out all that far when the pets lay into things (Thugs does predominately knockdown, though the Arsonist Burn patch may screw things up - the Bruiser got fixed [HAHAHaaa, fixed!] lately to only provide Knockdown; Ninjas are mostly KD as well I thought, as is Necromancy [though Necro gets a few Immobilizes with KB-protect as well]). Key point: What exactly are you encountering that is leading to your misconception about the Mastermind AT?
Would like to clarify I only bolded that last section to highlight the TL;DR question. I tend to ramble and lose my point amidst clarifications of what I mean, and am really curious about the methods involved to create your current issue.
(WARNING: I am by no means an expert on anything but rambling and sleeping.)
EDIT: My bad. Mercs has more KB potential then I thought, but I was pretty well spot-on with Necromancy and Ninjas. Thugs has less KB then I thought, with the only 'scatter' effect now being purely in Fire Bomb from the Arsonist (or is it the Molotov? I forget). Three out of five do no or minimal KB (with one doing an occasional scatter), one only has it significantly on one pet (Merc's Commando), and the last is KB heavy (Robotics). -
Felicitous annual hatching day! :3 Hope both today and the rest of the year go awesome for you.

That's scale-1, which is set to 75% chance to hit. -
So, when are you going to start applying for jerbs as a professional colorist? :3 You've certainly got the talent for it!

I don't see it posted anywhere else, but if it's already been posted, my bad.
I was at Comic Con today and got to play with the new character creator.
That includes seeing the Earthen Assault powers, and they are
1. Stone Spears (4 sec rech, 2.1 sec animation)
2. Stone Mallet
3. Tremor
4. Hurl Boulder (8 or 10 sec rech, 2.5 sec animation)
5. Power Boost
6. Heavy Mallet
7. Seismic Smash
8. Mud Port
9. Fissure

Hmm. Not quite what I expected, but I could work it. I'd have to actually play it to see how it handles, though. -

Be careful before you go stirring up trouble though. It's not like your manangement doesn't know they are taking the time off. You could wind up making a lot of people angry and nothing will change anyways.

A point I'd thought of, but didn't exactly state. Probably should have, because you're absolutely right. However, to have the majority of one section of workers call off is kind of bizarre, and while it can happen... I'd start to wonder and investigating it if I were in the personnel department.
If everyone's got a good, legitimate reason to be out, though, then it's just coincedence that ended up with a hit to productivity. But as one of the people caught in the backlash of that, I'd really like to know that was the case before I started extrapolating things further then necessary.
Then again, I am a fox. We're terribly nosy creatures! -
Warehouse work sucks. Especially in the summer! I've got a year's worth of experience in that specific flavor of 'Suck', and sympathize completely.
*Props Emmi up, hands her a nice, refreshing up of strawberry and rose black tea, and does her nails.*
Did you file a complaint to management about this yet? Sounds like your warehouse crew is being fishy, and I'd investigate personally. If just because it's (from the sounds of it) crushing productivity. If you're having to spend some of your time doing someone ELSE'S job, who's doing YOUR job in the meantime?
Inefficient! -
*Sprawls on a lounge chair in a tankini and sips her pina colada.*
Sounds aces to me, Neko. Wake me when it's October! -
*Dozes in her coffee.* Been wracking my creative brain the past couple of days, and fighting off an illness that given the symptoms of everyone else in the house that has it, I really don't want. Been chugging immune-boosters like beers at a frat initiation.
If beer tasted like three-week old, sun-dried, refried buttocks. :|
But I got most of my major projects done, at least. x.x Just been trying to keep myself focused (or at least distracted enough that I can dejumble my brain). -
