Quote:You still have plenty of time, I suggest making it a PC costumeOh God, how can I say this without turning up as an unrecognizable charred corpse along some dusty highway ditch wearing a diaper full of Texas sized fire ants with my eyes replaced with screwdrivers?
Remember way back in the day when this thread got started and everyone was like WOW those are great resistance costume pieces, I cant wait to wear them, splat, splat, splat, and Oh super keen, first I changed my desktop to a lolz cat and now my crippling depression doesnt seem so bad anymore, because I have a reason to live again, I get to wear glowing stuff. Well, get out a mop and find something sharp. That picture is of a NPC, not a new costume set.
Me so sorry about that there wasnt a clearer explanation of what was going on in the screenshot, I really am. But when you get down it and think about this rationally, this is really your fault, you jumped to a conclusion. You know I told you a thousand times not to do that, but I guess I need to teach you another lesson in the silence of the basement, next to the treadmill you dont use anymore. Looks like you and I wont be going over to your mothers for dinner like you planned. Canceled! The writing is on the wall baby, you are going to just have to tell the neighbors how clumsy you are, and just deal with it. Let the guilt of your wrong doings lead you on a path to righteousness. Youre welcome.
See how I turned that around, take a note kids.
Truth is, plenty of people asked within an hour if it was a PC costume. The smart thing to do would have been to answer then.
Really, I am not sure if you were joking or not. I can never tell with you're posts. -
Good point Cath, and thank you for pointing that out.
PP, I think it went where it did, because character customization is a Golden Calf in this game. Think about the heat the old power customization threads would generate. It didn't go bad till one poster told us (paraphrasing) that we were being stupid for being excited over the screen shot.
People will defend the things they are passionate about, and surely you can't be mad about that.
Oh and
Spiderman Orginal
Spiderman Black
Spiderman 2099
Cosmic Spiderman
Scarlet spider

Having been in this game, and on these boards for well over 5 years, I am sure of one thing. Those who do not care about costumes are in the MINORITY. The first thing reviewers talk about in this game is the character customization. In fact many say CoX set an industry standard. I knew people in WoW who would not use some gear upgrades because it looked like crap. People care about looks. In fact, those looks are why many people even do PC upgrades.
I wounder how many of those who say they don't care about aesthetics turn the video settings all the way down?
Think costumes are not important to this community (or the larger portion of it)? Go look at the costume request thread, or the custom weapon request threads. Power customization was desired because it LOOKS good.
I was playing when we got extra costume slots. There was mass rejoicing on the boards, and in the game. I agree, w/o the massive costume, and character customization this game would not have done nearly as well as it has.
All in all, my largest concern about War Witch, is that she may not put the same weight on these things as the lead Devs before her. I fear Jay, and Babs will spend all of their time on new enemy groups, instead of making new things for us. That may be w/o basis, but it is still MY fear. -
Quote:I agree. Looks are just as important as what you do to most of the world. Example: Tim Sylvia Was a decent fighter, and a UFC champ. He was boring as hell to watch. I was so glad when the title turned over. It is the same with characters. If I didn't care what a character looked like, I would play a MUD, or a P&P game. I play this because it is visualy stimulating. You guys are hillarious. Costumes and character creation in general is this game's biggest selling point, always has been. If you don't enjoy spending hours creating just the right look for your hero/villain, you are in the minority. I for one would have never even started playing this game if the character creation hadn't sucked me in.
Honestly, if you don't care what your character looks like.....why are you even playing this game? There are plenty of better games out there, if customizing your character isn't important to you.
Anyway, don't assume anyone else feels like you. You are the minority in this fanbase.
I would be pissed if new costumes, animations, and powers dried up. -
When I am told no by people with their flag up, I tell them they will get more because of the flag. Sometimes I get an "oops" and sometimes I get "I just turned it off, why is it still showing."
I send tells to those looking, and do a lfm broadcast just to be sure. -
I like the fact that my global and my characters are not shown in chat. Yes you can click on a name to check it, but the unknown is better. I adopt a different personality with each character, and some characters may have pissed people off. I am more me when I use my global to chat. So having the two not always associated is a good thing.
Shoot, I even removed my character names from my signature so no one would know who I am in game. I am sure it would not be hard to find out, but still that is an extra step. I may post something stupid on a bad day, piss someone off, and them ignore me forever in game. I would like to avoid that, as we all say stupid crap that we don't really mean at times.
Now that I think about it, there are posters that I like now, that I hated a few years ago, or that I am more tolerant of at the least. -
So, can anyone find a pic of the different flag over City Hall? Orion did you actually see this flag?
-
I would rather have a BAB TF first. Something that targets levels 5-10 and is all in one zone. I like BAB, I don't care who is in charge, he is still my favorite Dev. Also my first character started in Galaxy City, and all those after. I have just always liked BAB.
-
I am sure the paid expansion will have all of the above. My concern is with the shift from stuff to all story, being in the free issues.
I have been plying non-stop for over 5 years. I have played many times w/o PLing. I didn't understand bridging till i8. I get where you are coming from PP, I just don't want to see the aesthetics take a huge hit for story content. If I wanted all story, I could play a MUD. -
Define content.
As long as I still get new costumes, powers, and animations, sure. I am all about some new story stuff. If story stuff is going to completely make the things I want go away, then nope we can't all agree. -
-
Ya know, quivers, holsters, and scabbards would be very cool...
I had the same idea on the hair toggle. -
Quote:Really? It is one game. Most of us (if not all) have characters on red and blue. I have multiple 50s on either side. Win, win. Co-op has the greatest chance of reaching the most people. This has been pointed out over and over and over, yet the argument is still popping up.Villains needs its own stuff.
I get that heroes cant handle that side of the game getting any attention. But, yanno... Co-Op
It also goes back to quality and quantity. Blue side has more, but a bunch of it is crap. Th red side may have less, but it is all good and well written stuff.
Meh, not the place for this argument.
I am sure GR, and issues coming down the pipe will be a mix of both. -
Can't blame you for that. I hope you get an answer, I would like to know too.
-
Co-op is the most bang for the work put in. I personally like it better, it allows me to play with my friends no mater the faction they chose. with zone restrictions pulled it is even better.
-
Quote:Wow, I hope not. I hear complaints all the time about how there are too many forms of currency in the game. To add another would be a mistake. I hope they unlock like the Roman armor if they must unlock at all.The Devs have previously said the PraeClock costume would be unlockable in-game. After seeing this new Resistance costume, I'm pretty certain the PraeClock is the Loyalist analogue.
Also, the Devs have said that a single character could go back and forth on the alignment scales as many times as they wish. Since these costumes are faction tied (probably), I'd guess it'll be handled like the Vanguard costume: merits. You do X for the Loyalists/Resistance, you get a merit. Cash in Y number of merits for piece A/B/C/D/etc. So it'd just be a matter of doing the requisite feats and getting enough merits to get all the pieces you want.
At least that's my guess. -
Also don't forget, us Americans are very vocal with our complaints and dislikes
-
In the past, those with red names who have left said good bye.
-
As I just finished a Trilogy based on the American Revolution, there are a ton of things I could fire back with. I have decided not to.
-
Reminds me a lot of the armor in Hell Gate London. I wonder if some of the new hires were previously of that Dev team. I hope to see more like this, it is a great look.

Quote:I am yet to see anything in the game that a SOed team can't do. I don't think that is going to change. Is the game easier for fully IOed characters? Yes, and it should be. Those players put the work, time, and inf in to be more powerful. But power to what end? If it's to go back to the normal content and kick butt more easily, fine... but if the power becomes a requirement for doing new and end game content, then CoX will become just like every other High End Raid type game. No thank you!
The Dev team has always said that IOs were not required to play the game. I have seen no evidence to suggest that is a lie. I don't think it is going to become like WoW, where to get good teams you have to be fully geared. The main reason is not even because of the Devs. We just have a better community.
We have a community full of players that will drag multiple -20s on AV arcs, just because we tend to be nice. This alone could block the WoW mentality. The Devs also want the game to remain fun for the casual player, and they have made that more than clear. So no matter what the end game content is, I doubt it will wreck the game for the casual player, as nothing else has.
Quote:Raids and bigger group content are fine. What I don't like is a lot of the negative stuff that comes with it: gear discrimination, tyrannical guilds, requirement for voice chat (not that I mind voice chat, I just don't want to see it become mandatory), and the requirement that you *have to* be in a SG (guild) of some sort to progress.
The WoW community stinks. It is the biggest reason I could not get into the game. I love fantasy, but dang they were just jerks. Guild Wars seemed to be the same.
I think players are more likely to be bared because of AT and power selection than anything else. -
I know people in game who still use SOs, or TOs at the most. Most of them on Triumph. They just didn't want to juggle the IOs.
I may be alone, but I want the new end game content to reward my toon with POWER. I don't really care if it puts me above and beyond those who don't do it, because all they have to do to be as powerful as me is do the content.
When Jack ran the game, he had a way of making me (and others) feel he didn't want us to be really super. It was OK for his NPC, or the main NPCs to be near gods, but that was not in his "vision" for the PCs. Screw that.
I want the end game content to give me even greater travel powers, crazy IOs, killer costumes, and any other awesome the Devs can think of to reward me (us) for doing the content. I doubt I am alone in that.
If you want the power, do the content. -
I am looking forward to it, and already decided the 3 characters who will go first. It was based on build completion. Not just ahhh IOs, but DONE all the IOs I wanted in the build. One of them has tons of badges (not a badge person rally) and done the main TFs. I am really excited about the end game changes, no matter what they are.
There are other things I worry about. I fear with teh focus on content that we will see less and less PP, new IOs, new animations, custom weapons and the like. The aesthetics of the game are important to me, and the old content dosen't bother me as long as I have new ways to do it. New stories are welcome, I just hope we still get the other stuff as well. -
