Thanks to everyone who came out on Wednesday for the first public raid of the new decade. We had a slow-arriving crowd, followed by a reasonable spawn time and an efficient 39-minute raid.
Special thanks as always to the support folks on my team, as well as to my team leaders: Justice Maker, Grim Maligne, Kiddygrade, Street Stalker, and Nuclear Target.
Hope to see you all next week! -

Quote:Actually, no, that won't work. The Abyss is one of the few zones that still has a level restriction, and you have to be at least 45 to get in. Still, you've got the rest of January to get those levels, so it doesn't rule you out.yeah ill bring my wp/ss brute. unfortunately he's not 50 but hes like 34ish??? been awhile since ive played red side, but if im on a team it will auto to 50 and i should be fine.
Kane, sorry your work schedule won't allow you to participate. That domi would be a welcome addition, and really shouldn't die repeatedly with our strat as long as everyone is doing his or her job. If things go as I expect and we have a reasonable spawn time, we should be finishing around 11 or shortly thereafter. Still, if you get off earlier that night, or get home sooner, it won't hurt to check. -

We are targeting Wednesday, February 3rd for a sponsored redside Hami raid. Would probably be around 9:30 EST. I will post more details along with the strategy we will use on these forums in the next week or two.
-
TA has our villains on Pinnacle, and our heroes on Guardian (of course). So if you're running redside over there--or are looking to apply to THE Hamidon-raiding guild--we can be found on both servers, regularly taking down the jell-o.
-
Thanks to all of those who came out for a holiday version of the Hamidon raid. We had an incredibly long spawn, but then took down the jell-o in a solid 40 minutes.
As always, special thanks to the support toons on my team, as well as my team leaders: Kiddygrade, Grm Maligne, Overlord Jack, Nuclear Target, and Street Stalker. Outstanding work, as always.
I will not be leading a raid next week, as I will be traveling for the holidays. I will, however, be back to take down the jell-o for the first time in 2010 on Jan 6th.
Have a Merry Christmas, and a Happy New Year! -
Quote:It varies from raid to raid, based on how many folks are on each team and what the breakdown on those teams are in terms of ATs and powersets. Beyond that, there are times when the greens heal the blues (common) or yellows (less common) more than each other, leading to the greens going down more quickly than other mito types. My guess is that if the greens were going slower last night, the blues and yellows were dropping pretty rapidly. You did a good job resolving it, though; aside from the green mitos taking longer to go down than I'd seen previously, everything progressed smoothly after we reformed.
Glad things went well, and I'm hoping to be recuperated and ready to raid next week! -
Quote:Well, I took a fall this afternoon. And, although I was able to get up, I banged my knee and twisted my back rather badly. As such, I'm not sure I'm going to be able to sit up at the desk to raid this evening.Just a note that, despite the Winter Event being live, we WILL be raiding the Hamidon tonight, assuming we have enough people show up.
So take a break from the snowman and come get some jell-o!
However, there will be folks from my guild there to lead, so the raid is still on, assuming there is enough interest with the Winter Event going on. If I can get enough relief with the pain meds, I'll try to make it. Otherwise, I'll see you all for my last raid of 2009 next week. -

Thanks again to all of those who came out last night for another successful Hami run. It was a very long spawn (around 40 minutes), so we actually finished a little after 11 EST. My apologies for running over, although we did end up with a solid 41-minute raid despite some different team make-ups.
As always, special thanks to the support folks on my team, along with the team leaders: Clan Lass, Street Stalker, Golden Rays, Kiddygrade, and Grim Maligne. Outstanding work, as usual!
Hope to see you all next week! -
And thanks again to all of those who came out to take down Hami tonight. We had a very crisp 29 minute raid, in no small part to people knowing their jobs and sticking to the task at hand.
As always, special thanks go out to the support folks on my team, along with my team leaders: Kiddygrade, Spell Blade, Justice Maker, Nuclear Target, and Grim Maligne.
Hope to see you all there next week! -

The Twilight Avengers are tweaking our public strat which we use regularly blue side on the Guardian server to take down Hami. As soon as we get it where we want it, we will be hosting a redside raid. If it is well received, it may become a regular occurrence. I will post the strat on these forums along with the date of the first raid, when we schedule it.

Thanks to all who came out to have some jell-o on Thanksgiving Eve! Not only did we have a good turnout for so close to the holiday, but we were going so smoothly that we actually attempted taking Hami down without defeating the last wave of mitos. We didn't quite get it done (got him to less than 7K), but were able to reset and still complete the last wave for an overall raid time of 35 minutes.
Very nice work by everyone who came out. As always, special thanks to the support folks on my team, as well as to my team leaders: Street Stalker, Hami Raider, Chicago Dog, Grim Maligne, and Kiddygrade.
See you all next week! -
Unfortunately, I am down with a combination of the flu and an upper respiratory infection. I'm on meds, and will hopefully be back and at it soon. However, I will NOT be able to make the raid tonight.
There will undoubtedly be folks who show up in the Hive, so I expect you could get it done successfully. As such, the raid is NOT cancelled, and I'll trust that leaders will step up to get the job done.
Here's hoping I'll see you all next week. -
Quote:Pyber,So, now that I know when I'll have time this coming weekend I've settled on a time for the first Raid.
Saturday, Nov 21st @ 6pm PST / 9pm EST
This will allow for plenty of time before the Rikti Raid later that night, and will hopefully be early enough to catch as many people as possible. As for the strategy we'll be using, what I'd like to do is try something similar to what Wulf and TA do on Pinnacle, which is a somewhat altered version of his Hero-side Hami Raids. Should we be successful this weekend, the following Saturday I'd like to try the strategy that Southern linked me to. After that, we'll decide which is easier to accomplish and stick with it.
I haven't confirmed any of the details with Wulf on his strategy yet (I'll talk to him in the next couple days when I have more time), but from what I understand it is similar to how he runs the Hero-side Hami Raids. Wulf, if I'm wrong about whats below, please let me know.
- Taunting Brutes in place of Tankers
- Yellow team would be all other Brutes and Stalkers
- Blue team would consist of Corruptors and some Dominators
- Green team would consist of Dominators, MM's and any Corruptors not filling the Blue team.
- VEATs would be placed according to their powersets (ranged or melee)
- As with Hero-side, each team will need someone with TP Friend to pull corpses out of the jello when it pops
- MM's can be spread around a little depending on their Secondary. All I'd ask is that when Hami pops, the MM's leave their pets when they run since we don't need aggro-happy pets bringing Hami aggro back to the gather point.
The general idea will obviously be along the same lines as the Hero-side Raids, with the taunting Brutes going in first after buffing up, and then followed by each of the Mito teams. TP'ers leave the jello first before Hami pops, followed by as many as can survive the pop, breaking aggro before gathering again for the next stage.
I'll see what I can do to gather a small stockpile of EoE's in case we don't get many while killing the monsters to spawn Hami. There aren't many available on Villain-side, but I'll grab what I can during the week running up to Saturday, perhaps leading a couple of monster hunting teams to build up said stockpile.
As mentioned, I'll chat with Wulf about the finer points of running his Pinnacle Raids in the next couple days hopefully, and I hope to see as close to a full zone as possible in The Abyss on Saturday evening!
Just in case we don't get a chance to chat in-game, here's the excerpt from my strat about the team breakdowns. Your list is correct, of course, and hopefully this will give you a little more detail about the team set-ups. If you have further questions, drop me a line here or see if you can find me in-game between now and then.
Good luck!

Wulf's Public Villain Raid Strategy (excerpt)
There are a minimum of 5 teams used in this strategy: a Hami Aggro Team, a Yellow Mito Aggro Team, a Yellow Mito Kill Team, a Blue Mito Kill Team, and a Green Mito Kill Team. The following is a list of who should, ideally, be on each team. Given the nature of public raiding, however, we live with the reality that we will frequently not have the best combination of toons present. So these teams will, by necessity, be modified for each raid to accommodate the people present.
Hamidon/Yellow Mito Aggro Team: 3 Brutes (w/taunt), 3 Pain Domination Masterminds or Corruptors, and 1 Kinetic is ideal. It is possible to work with 2 Pain Domination toons and no Kinetic, but at that point I strongly suggest having an additional Brute on the team to take over when and if the Brute who is taunting the Hamidon goes down. It is also possible to use /thermal corruptors or /poison MMs as support toons for the two brutes taunting the yellows, since they have both a single target heal and a mez protection power. In this event, however, I strongly suggest having an additional support toon (preferably a /pain domination corruptor or MM) on the team, as the Hami-taunting brute gets very significant –regen and –heal on a regular basis.
Yellow Mito Aggro Team: 4 Brutes (w/taunt), 2 Pain Domination Masterminds or Corruptors, and 1 Kinetic. Again, it is possible to operate without the kinetic on this team. It’s very handy if at least one of the pain domination toons has recall friend and Conduit of Pain. Again, it is possible to use /thermal corruptors or /poison MMs as support toons for the four brutes taunting the yellows, but again I strongly suggest having an additional support toon (preferably a /pain domination corruptor or MM) on the team as a safety measure.
Yellow Mito Kill Team: 6-7 Melee Damagers (Brutes, Stalkers, Soldiers of Arachnos, or Night Widows), 1 Pain Domination, Thermal, or Sonic. It will also work if you have two support toons on this team, and if at least one of them has recall friend and a rez of some kind. Group Fly is a great help on this team. In the event no one on the team has group fly, the flight packs that can be purchased in Grandville are of great help.
Blue Mito Kill Team: 6-7 Ranged Damagers (Corruptors and Masterminds with FF, Storm, or Traps as their secondary powerset), 1 Pain Domination, Thermal, or Sonic. In this case, one of the corrupters may be a Pain Domination, Thermal, or Sonic, but you would want to make sure that they knew their primary job was mez protection and not damage. Again, two support toons are better. Note that, depending on your team make-up at any given raid, this team may not need an individual using single target mez protection. With two Dark corruptors using Shadow Fall, and two or more Force Field or Traps on the team, the AoE mez protection should be sufficient as long as the team stays together. Therefore, Group Fly is a valuable power to have on this team. Again, flight packs will work if Group Fly is not available on the team.
Green Mito Kill Team: 6-7 Holder/Damagers (Dominators, Fortunatas, and Masterminds with Poison, Dark Miasma, or Trick Arrow as their secondary powerset), 1 Pain Domination, Thermal, or Sonic. Ideally, this team’s mez protection would come from the secondary powers of the holders themselves, allowing you to have an additional holder/damage dealer on this team. Again, it will be important in that case to insure those with mez protection responsibilities are clear on their duties. It is useful to have two of these teams working together, if possible, and targeting through the same person. This Team, also, benefits greatly from having Group Fly, although, again, flight packs will be sufficient.
It is rare to have a full 50 people (zone limit) in the zone and active at any given time. Typically, when the zone reaches its capacity, there are a handful of people who are disconnecting and trying to come back in, along with a handful at the entrance of the zone trying to load in. As such, 6 teams will usually be as many as you need. Once the original Yellow, Blue, and Green Mito Kill Teams are full, extra people should gather on a sixth team to help supply holds and damage against the Green Mitos, as mentioned above. After that, the Aggro Teams can pick up one additional straggler each, meaning that up to 48 people can be on teams. -
Depends on which strategy you use. The one that is popular on a lot of servers uses the MM pets in a constant stream to hold hami's aggro.
The one that I am developing as a modification from the blueside strategy actually uses brutes in place of the tankers and places MMs on other mito teams based on their secondary abilities. A /dark MM, for example, would go on the green mito team because they have at least one single target hold, have an excellent team heal that also does -regen to the mito, a debuff, an AoE aura that helps protect against the fear effects of the blue mitos, and a pet that also holds and heals.
Either way, though, the toon can be quite useful. -
Quote:It is at least as bad as an RWZ, so make appropriate setting changes.Never done a hami raid, but I've done a few Rikti mothership raids. Is the lag/performance issues on hami similar to that of the rikti raids?
My pc isn't the best, when I do a Rikti raid I have to turn all my graphic/sounds options to the min or off and even then I still a bit sluggish, but at least I can move and target -
And yet another outstanding raid by the folks on the Guardian server. We had a full Hive so we were able to start taking down DE right at 9:30, had a fairly quick spawn for a change (8-10 min), and then a very smooth 33 minute raid.
Thanks to all that came out, especially those of you who told us it was your first time. And, as always, special thanks goes out to the buffers on my team, along with my team leaders: SisziZ, Dark Elf Cuisinart, Grim Maligne, Noish-Pa, and Kiddygrade.
Outstanding work by all concerned, and I hope to see you there next week! -
Quote:This seems to be because the regularly scheduled one has been on Wednesday since before I started leading them. Adding another night is not a problem, but needs to be advertised to be successful.Well, then, Wulf, maybe the problem isn't you, but rather, the players. I've seen a few other people attempt to organize Hami raids, and the general response seems to be, "Nah, we'll wait for the real one, on Wednesday.".
Quote:I've also seen people say, "Wulf said on the forums that he couldn't be here for the Hami Raid this Wednesday, so there's no raid this week.".
Maybe I'm just seeing the wrong people, but when you see things like that, it gives a bit of an elitist impression.
If consistent success = elitist, then I and my guild are guilty as charged, and I challenge anyone else who would be equally successful to step up to the plate and lead. Otherwise, the regular raids continue on Wednesday nights for anyone who wants to show up and take down the jell-o.
Quote:And pyber, I do truly wish you the best of luck! -
Quote:I'm not quite sure how that makes the raid elitist. I offered to tweak the strategy a little over a year ago to make it more efficient and volunteered to lead them whenever I could. And I've been happy to do exactly that. That would be the one I was talking about. If the Raid isn't lead by you, or by someone you sanctioned, nobody will come.
I have a friend who has been wanting to lead Hami Raids for as long as I've been playing, but he can't, because he hasn't been sanctioned by you, and also believes that he has to have your macros to lead the Raid.
But I've also asked repeatedly for folks to volunteer to lead when I can't be there, or even to give me a break from time to time and let me just participate. I've had a couple of folks approach me and attempt to lead it, and have given the macros I use to them if they wanted them. But the folks who showed up for those raids didn't always listen to them for some reason.
I wasn't there during those times, so I'm not sure why that would be. Perhaps it was just that it was a departure from the norm that had people spooked. Maybe some folks showed up that don't normally, and thought they knew what they were doing better than the person trying to lead. Maybe the person leading didn't coordinate the team leaders or get things going soon enough.
As I said, I don't know the reason, since I wasn't there. But I doubt it had anything to do with whether or not I "sanctioned" the person to lead. On the occasions I knew an attempt was going to be made in my absence, I mentioned it on these forums so the folks who showed up would know a raid was still going on and who to listen to. If those who showed up didn't do so, that's not on me or my lack of "sanction" for the person who was attempting to lead the raid...particularly since there's no such thing as a "sanction" to lead a hami raid from me or anyone else.
In any case, there's nothing elitist or intended to be elitist about the public raids. I invite everyone to come out and participate, and would be glad for someone else to step up and volunteer to lead them occasionally, whether I'm there or not. If your friend is serious about leading one sometime, have him contact me. He can take or leave my macros (since I use them to save myself from typing the same thing every week), as long as he has the process down so that it is successful. After all, failure will cause people to stop following faster than anything else.
But let's refrain from casting a negative image on the public raids just because someone hasn't had a chance--or taken advantage of an opportunity--to lead one successfully. That doesn't help anything. -
Quote:We actually have one of these blue-side every Wednesday night at 9:30 eastern. You should come out and try it.Wow. A non-Elitist Hami raid? I might have to try one of these!
Good luck, pyber!
As for a villain-side raid on Guardian, Pyber, our guild won't be able to help directly as we have our villains on another server. As I mentioned in the other Hami thread, however, I have developed a strategy for a public raid over there that I'll be posting in the Pinnacle server area at some point in the near future. I had planned to already have it posted, but RL conspired to slow that plan. The strat is designed to be a villain version of the strat we use at our blue side raids, and is a little different than many of the red-side strats I've seen in the way it uses different ATs. Feel free to check it out when I post it, or contact me about it. -
Very beautiful raid tonight, folks. We started with only 41 people and ended with only a couple more than that. Despite the fact that we had lower total numbers--and quite low numbers on the melee damage team--we blew Hami apart in a very brisk 32 minutes.
Outstanding work as always by the support toons on my team, as well as to my team leaders: Lady Bellicose, Grim Maligne, Kiddygrade, 0bsession, and Sausage Toes.
Hope to see you there next week!
