  1. ... Yes. Supergroup pages -were- and are category pages, so they list as subcategories in the [Category:Supergroup] page.

Locations however, do not need to be this, because they do not need to contain as much linked in data from different users, IE, who is part of the Supergroup. This is achived by making invidiual supergroups a category (Which is a subcategory of the main Supergroup page as a whole) so that people's characters get linked in.
  2. Supergroups were created to be subcategories so that characters would auto link to them just by having the tag in their character profile. Someone with [Category:CourtOfTheBloodCountess] for example, would auto appear as Articles under the Court of the Blood Countess Category page, which was pointed to as a redirect from the Court of the Blood Countess article page.

You've created tons of subcategories when they were fine as articles.
  3. ... What?

    http://union.virtueverse.com/index.php/Galaxy_Girl

This is a page. This is the Galaxy Girl page for the statue located in Galaxy City. It is tagged with Category:Location so that if you go to the Category:Location's page, it appears in it.

    You then created this:
    http://union.virtueverse.com/index.p...ry:Galaxy_Girl

Deleted the information off the old page, and turned that into a redirect for the new page. This is a category page that is tagged with the Category:Location link, when it does not -need- to be a Category.

This essentially creates two pages where there's only a need for one, and puts in needless redirects.

If it isn't broke, don't fix it.
If it isn't broke, don't fix it.
If it isn't broke, don't fix it.
    [u]If it isn't broke, don't fix it.[u]

There should be -articles- in Category:Locations. Not Sub-Categories.
  4. Okay, take this for an example:

I gain access to one of your websites, and change it around to how -I- would make one. Would you be happy with this? I'm guessing not. Same goes for other people's Wiki pages.

You turned the Galaxy Girl Page into a category, deleting the information you took from the main page and then setting up a redirect from that to the Category:Galaxy Girl page, when there was no need to. It was fine as just being a normal page.
  5. You're correct that it was an old change. With all the list of changes that have popped up, that was an easy mistake to make, and I apologise for raising it.

I'm not sure I understand what you're saying about you shouldn't have a category and subcategory... that's what a subcategory is there for, to break up a larger category.

The system with the Supergroup pages as categories, for instance, means that anyone who tags themself with a [Category:SGnamehere] tag will automatically be linked under it, instead of having people having to manually update the page when they add characters. If lots of people have a problem with this, they should raise it on this thread. Changing your page is understandable. Changing everyone elses not so.
  6. Only User:Stephen Strange's changes are being rolled back, so His_Hairness' first ever entry should still be okay. I'll need to wait to speak to Pious, but I'd expect the current week ban will be extended if I have anything to do with it, seeing this is a repeat offense.

Please note that the Wiki will go into read only mode later as the mighty Bot VanHelsing goes to work on rolling back around 750 changes.
  7. All of the users contributions will be rolled back in the early hours of tomorrow morning to October 22nd. The affected period was from the 23rd to today, and while some legitimate page edits and creations will be lost, there's simply no way to filter it all out. There may be some category issues still, but all in all the pages will return to their own state.
  8. In contact now with one of our Virtue counterparts. Bots can't be used on the Wikiserver, and they're trying to scramble to find a way to do a revision. There's been over -750- changes in 2 days by the person in question, we -may- be able to rollback to the 22nd October, before the recent spate of changes happened.
  9. ... He's been messing with the sexuality pages. Again. Some kind of fixation, Liz?

At least you didn't change Storm Sapphire's sexuality to Transsexual again. Thank goodness for small blessings.
  10. Virtue side person is AFK at the moment, so still waiting on that.

From investigations so far, it looks as if a bot is the main option, but I know little about bots.
  11. I hope so, yes. One's online now, so time to go and poke.
  12. Only -if- that is the only reasonable option. If there's no automated way to rollback the changes, it's either a -very- long manual slog through of them, or just do the DC thing and reboot.
  13. I wouldn't even know where to begin if that was the only option available, so as I said, need to wait for the Virtue side to get online.
  14. ... Have you -seen- the back end of this? All those pages linking back to themselves, changed into categories, all the revisions and changes made unauthorized and unwanted?

My recommendation is for -everyone- to find their pages, save the information and get ready to redo it all. I'm going to talk with the main admin when he gets online, and then need to wait for the Virtue end staff to get up to ask them about this. If there's no way to mass-rollback or remove a users changes, fire and salt may be one of the few options. Not saying that's going to happen OMG right away, or even at all but it's best to be prepared.
  15. I'll get to work on trying to sort that out. My Wiki-fu has faded, but as long as I don't collapse it in on itself...

Other than hitting [Rollback] a ton load of times on -every- single change, I don't know... and some you can't roll back as they're the only contributor, such as the category pages.

I know I need to update my entries. It's getting the motivation.
  16. The user has been blocked for a week while this gets resolved.

... Now how the hell do you stop a page from redirecting to itself that redirects to itself that redirects to itself that.... ad infinitum.

And so many categories. So many damn catagories! >< SWEET RIKER'S BEARD!

    Click And Run

Problem is, have you tried killing a Rikti mob or a Zombie in the invasion with a level 10 or so? While they may con the same level to you, you just chip away at their HP over and over until they die, which would make things not fun at all for people trying to get the badges and costumes on low level characters.

An ideal solution would be a brick flying through the monitor of everyone who thought griefing people and clicking and running was a bright idea. Or for them to just not do it. But in that world, we would also not have war, persecution, discrimination or Jim Davidson.

    Pink Inspiration

Dinah'd be up for that. And hell, a couple of friendly kisses and the promise of pictures and Isaac'd take them anywhere!
  19. [ QUOTE ]

I, frankly, find the concept of forcing people to do anything in an MMO rather strange. Have they got electrodes wired into your brain, or something?

... So -that- is why Chris Metzen was creeping about outside my place with some probes.

As has been said so often before, and applies to real life too, it's not the destination that matters but how you get there. Rushing through the levels to hit the cap leaves you feeling like there's nothing else to do, so you burn another 50 up, and start to get even more bored.

Part of me wonders that if people took their time, enjoyed the missions, had a little fun standing under Atlas in costume contests and such, then there'd be less 'endgame' and 'level cap' cries.

As for WoW, I'm finding more fun in playing my way through the quests, to be honest. If I'd rushed through all the instances in search of loot, I'd never have found the mission that involves co-ordinating a defence against a sea monster, complete with cannons and riflemen. Or the quests that get you to help in exorcising a demon from a soldier's body, blasting back evil spirits with holy prayer beads.

I still feel a way forward would be to make the zones themselves more active, have events, missions and badges given in them, get people onto them instead of in instances.
  20. Oddly, after switching characters, it suddenly stopped. It's... bizzare.

Bizzaro, even. Me am sad at it stopping.
  21. I do love to butcher the English language.

Anyway, every night now, red Lost In Packets galore, high pings on CoH. Other games? Hell, even with WoW full from the patch 3.0.2 changes today and Stormwind packed with people I wasn't lagging.
  22. This is true, I wrote more on my train to London recently (and was hampered by my crappy laptop battery dying after an hour ) on the Dinah story that's now 10 pages long and still needs more work. Ah well, can grab some time this weekend.
  23. One thing about out of game combat RP is that you have the option of being a little more creative in your attacks and combat styles. In game, Arrow Azure is a bit of a damp squib when it comes to kicking [censored], even with his quivers full of trick arrows.

Take his Ice Arrow. In game, it's a hold. Out of game, he could fire it at the floor to create a freezing patch, or at a door to block it off, or freeze some water over, or...

Heck, the list is endless with what you can do! And it is cool to do those kind of things that you see in the comics and can't do out of game.
  24. ... No. We are not going to go into the interesting debates about Invun characters that got brought up a while ago. Please, hell no. ><

I'M SORRY GIDEON! I NEVER MEANT TO ASK THAT QUESTION OUT LOUD ABOUT SARA AEGIS!
