  1. Addendum to OP:

Either by crafting, unlocking or otherwise; wing sets that mimic some of the available shield sets from Shield Defense:

    Talesorian Wings
    Rularuu Wings
    Dark Wings
    Electric Wings

    etc.

    as well as maybe some:

    Steampunk Wings/Pack
  2. It has an error that's keeping me from installing/executing it.
  3. Just kinda scanning through Mids and noticed that Controllers pretty much rely of 3 attacks; an immob, a hold and an AoE hold + 1 pet and maybe a standby fourth

Defenders have a fairly consistent eight. Defenders also have (with a couple of exceptions) an Aim type ability.

At first impression, this would lead me to believe that mid level Defenders can outperform Controllers in single target damage chains.

It also seems to me that by getting their debuffs/buffs sooner than most Controllers get their hard AoE controls; their survivability would be better as would their contributions to teams.

In the late game there are two Epic pools that allow for additional damage boosts and some nice controls.

Looking at Defender sets like Dark/, Rad/ and Cold/; /Ice, /Dark and /Sonic (given the beefed buffs)... I'm like, "Wow."

The only thing that seems disparate, to me, are the inherents (and maybe the pets).

a: Why do you want to see this?
b: What (specifically) would you like to see?
c: How do you keep it from becoming lopsided in favour of a specific origin?

    [/ QUOTE ]

    a. summed that up in the first post but to paraphrase: Why attach Origin themes to the booster packs when they don't impact or aren't impacted by the Origin 'mechanic'. These could've been released as something other than 'Origin Packs' and the thought would've never crossed my mind.

It is a concept/theme thing to me.

As a player out to get any advantage I can; I could care less.

As a player attempting to rationalize some of the things I observe in this game, lol, it just kinda stands out to me.

    b. I listed a few preferred options in my previous post but I'm open to other suggestions. Brainstorming and/or discussion yields better results than tossing out an inflexible stone tablet of end all directives.

    c. lopsided has already happened:

the first temp was merely a suicide bomb; you died and hopefully took a few weak(end) mobs down with you.

the 2nd booster trumped that; I can buff my whole team with buffs that last longer than any [clickie] buff in the entire game and it recharges fast enough so that if one of my teammates doesn't like what he has; he can get another before we even hit the next spawn... AND they're multi-buffs (buffing more than one attribute)...

the 3rd booster is a different animal completely; it's a feature as opposed to a power and it dominates blowing yourself up anyday.

there's a lot of pressure for the 4th booster power to live up to either 2 or 3.
  5. It's pretty much DoT damage that can lose some of its oomph as it tries to catch mobs.

A nice AoE Immob or Hold will take care of that though (or even a good AoE Slow or KD patch.

magic cards have greater buffs and the debuffs are less?

[/ QUOTE ]There's only one debuff in all of the Mystic Fortune buffs, and it's only -3% tohit.
Edit: And that -3% tohit comes with +100% speed and +15% recharge, too.

    [/ QUOTE ]

There's one that does (one time) damage to the recipient as well.
  7. [ QUOTE ]
like what? techies that self destruct do more dmg, or have a shorter recharge, or a self-res component, or other?

magic cards have greater buffs and the debuffs are less? do you code that to the carder or the cardee? if it's both, does that mean a magic hero using cards on another magic hero would result in a double-plus?

there was no power with science. does that mean they have to add one, or do they go back and limit science-only characters to using the body-model change for costumes?

NOTE: I am NOT knocking your suggestion; I'm trying to open up a neutral discourse. I personally believe that the devs are doing the origin boosters to give people more options (most of them highly-requested) to flavour their characters, and that the powers are just that: nice, but not necessary or even game-changing.

I'm worried that if they do origin buffs on these things, all but one origin will disappear. How can we then implement your suggestion and keep things balanced and still fun?

    [/ QUOTE ]

Any of those could work... didn't want to create a big bruhaha by binding the idea to anything specific.

Sci is the Big Hurdle though.

If it were up to me, I'd kinda lean towards Tech being a long recharge nuke as opposed to self-destruct on a timer in the hands of a Tekkie.

Magic; making the power an TAoE? [for Magic types]

Sci - I have my personal feelings about a large game mechanic standing in for a minor temp power. That aside... maybe Sci types also being able to call up a Trainer Bot that'll allow eligible (those not in the 15 minute wait period) toons to change their build wherever they're at?

[All bonuses being applied as being from the caster; not the recipient (so no stronger bonuses because the recipient is of the same origin of the caster and the temp)]

And larger versions of the smaller wings?

[/ QUOTE ]The only small wings we have are Chrub and Bat, which are small versions of the Angel and Demon wings from vet rewards.

    [/ QUOTE ]

For some reason, I thought one of the insect wings were small as well; guess not.
  9. I know that some forumites don't like Origin having any effect on gamely outside of RP, however, we now have the Origin Boosters and the thing that kinda throws me off is that no matter what the player's actual Origin is; it has no bearing on the Origin powers.

I don't think that the availability of Origin powers should be restricted by a player's Origin but I do feel, IMO, that the Origin powers should work better in the hands of those who possess the corresponding Origin.

Whether that means a slight reduction in effect or execution for those outside of the Origin in question or a slight increase for those of corresponding Origin... or even an additional effect; it would be nice to see some kind of distinction.
  10. Can we get miniature versions of all the wings made available through the crafting system? (And larger versions of the smaller wings?)

May we get craftable (cosmetic only) Rocket/Jet Packs as well?

    Please and Thank you.
  11. Since all of the Dark sets are becoming customizable; can that actualization of that customization be ported to the Dark Shield in the Shield Defense set?

Currently; no matter what you do with the color settings; it remains a purplish-black mass.
  12. This reminds me of how single tracked Deadliest Warrior on Spike is.

They turned all the would be combatants into roman gladiators whether their native techniques matched that format or not.

Woe unto the poor Defender, having to deal with mezzes just like Blasters, Controllers, Corruptors, non-Domination Dominators, and non-Dwarf Kheldians.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Kind of a baseless statement. Blasters have some weird form of dealing with mez; Dominators at least have the ability to gain mez protection (with the option of putting enough recharge on it to make it a reliable source of mez protection) and Khelds have the option of going into and out of mez prt/res when needed.

    [/ QUOTE ]

There's also a few Side Pool powers that one can take; like Acrobatics and Combat Jumping. Health for Sleep resis, Tactics for Confusion and Fear/Assault for Taunt/Placate and Aid Self for Stun resis

As well as IO set slotting for resistance and a couple of IO Uniques.

does he still have that much as an AV at 35 though?

    [/ QUOTE ]

At 50 I think he has like 28k, I would think at 35 he'd still have around 20k. Though possibly when I solo'd a -5 EB in Madame of Mystery...it left me a bit jaded >_> she was still a pain to kill on my Invul/Fire Tank...

    [/ QUOTE ]

I burned through my green conning EB (Infernal; sans Demons) in less than 4 minutes on an lvl 37 Elec/Kin Corr. Outside of Aim and Siphon Power; I only had about a 60-65% dmg boost from slotting but a nice DPS boost from Hasten and Siphon Speed; [I was playing at lowest difficulty].

I'm sure I could've done it faster if I had better slotting, used my Apprentice Charm, used insps, picked up FoN beforehand, waited til he was a grey con, etc.

It seems that damage output is resisted less by critters spawning at a lower level than you. You miss less, etc.

So 28K at that point isn't the same as 28K at an even con.

Could I pull a 4 kill in approx 1 minute using this method; doubtful... but when adding in all of the temps and insps and accolades... I could see it happening on a well slotted; well played toon.

Could a Dark/Dark do it? Under the same principle and adding in the 2 -regen debuffs + the -res debuff; I don't see why not.

At an even con or higher, I can't call it... all I know is that I couldn't do it.

    ********************

Side note: There aren't any anti-nictus temp powers available, are there?
  15. Encourage friends to hang out with you at the Arena or Warburg.

The free-for-all set up can be an interesting concept if there are enough people milling around on a regular basis to do so, especially once the Going Rogue expansion hits.

Ok, I will try to make this clear for everyone..........

I do not like to keep repeating myself, such as i answered Tyger and Laxx in about my second post, and i do not answer to insults (AGAIN i am repeating myself).

Several people have actually read what i wrote and sent me a simple request for the Rommy Quiz and i have answered them......IT IS THAT SIMPLE!

If you listen to the other posters if a new person were to start a mission or TF and team members left, the team and that new person would be unable to finish it, especially if the difficulty level were to high.

    ************************************************

My advice allows them to find out more about the game, ENHANCEMENTS, TEMPORARY POWERS, ACCOLADES, INSPIRATIONS, balancing difficulty to match your teams ability, coming back to a mission when you are more on par with the level of the bad guys from the mission, find friends and how to enjoy more of the games content.

    *************************************************

Most of the posters merely talked about enhancements and at a low level to a new person this will not really help them. Even at mid-level enhancements will not help as it is easy to go to fast and end up with missions that are too difficult. With some builds Psi/Emp for example all the other advice given would not help. My advice will allow them to go up in level and enjoy the missions without even enhancing.

The point is to help new people and the OP, flooding this thread with non-sense (which i expect you will do anyways) is not helpful.

AGAIN i recommend new people read the PLAYERS GUIDE section of the forums for help and advice! Eldandil wrote a wonderful guide that gives a full description of things to do in each level range to find almost all the content in the game. I recommend this for new and vets alike.

    [/ QUOTE ]

You're probably doing the same thing I did to get my Corr her HeroSlayer Badge. She's waaay to squishy to take on Infernal AND Behemoths; solo at equivalent level.

So, I picked up the mission at level 32 but didn't bother to enter and complete until I hit level 37; a green conning EB is tons easier and more quickly defeated.

TFs can be accomplished in a similar manner; make the mission active, map sweep/street sweep until you are at X desired levels above your target... then drop him like a carton of eggs.
  17. I disagree with the idea of even comparing Defenders to Controllers; one's a Control/Buff set and the other is a Buff/Attack set. The only thing that can be legitimately compared are the corresponding Buff sets; in which the Defender edges out the Controller.

A more accurate comparison would be Defender vs. Corr; they operate on the same principle but in a mirrored fashion.

    ****************************

If you need mez protection/resistance on you Def/Corr, then you have to accomodate your power choices to reflect that:

    Rad Emission
    Sonic
    Traps

I will agree on your assessment that the inherent is bad (I don't too much care for the Tanker's either but at least the Tanker's provide solo utility); but I also feel that part of their inherent (that everybody seems to be overlooking) are the beefed up buff bonuses.

If the Defender's whole goal in life is to be a support AT then the (whole of the) inherent needs to reflect that better:

Increasing the duration and radius as well as the magnitude of the buffs would be an interesting start; as it stands, the Defender Buff Edge-Out is kind of marginal.

    AND/OR

To allow some of those (toggle/PBAoE) buffs to extend to the Defender.

Another option would be to give the Defender an incremental Attribute boost when his health starts to fall under a certain point; ie. Defiance v.1 (because, even that is better than what the Defender inherent is now) which is marginally increased for every ally on his team (he must rise to his duty as defender of his friends and allies) with emphasis on damage, end recovery, regen, max health or some combination of attributes.

So, maybe a max 25% (near death) to these attributes when he solos; each teammate buffing that fluctuating percentage by 5-10%.
  18. On the radio button descriptors can we add:

    Solo Friendly
    Solo Challenge
    Team Friendly
    Team Challenge

in lieu of the 'Challenging' button?
  19. [ QUOTE ]
Since when does "solo" mean "being badass"? If someone is alone, they are soloing. If you want to say they're not badass, just say they're not badass. Don't claim they had "help" because they clicked different buttons than you.

    [/ QUOTE ]

    Agree.

If it is in your powerset, IMO, then don't feel restricted in using them (unless you're looking for that kind of a challenge).

The different ATs distribute high damage very differently and shouldn't be locked into one AT's definitions when determining topics such as 'soloing'.

If a Defender or Corr needs to use a [powerset] nuke or a MM needs to use their pets because they don't have the same damage distribution method as a Tanker doesn't mean they cheated or didn't solo a task.

That would be akin to saying that using Fury or Hide/AS/Placate/Attack is cheating.

Even if you use insps, if you're the only player completing the task; also excluding NPC allies, then you are still soloing it.

As quoted above; soloing and posturing for bragging rights are two different animals; with the biggest kudos going to the players that can dish on an AV without temps or insps; [powerset] nukes or godmodes.

[This applies to damage mitigation as well; up to what point are squishies allowed to seek mitigation outside of their powersets before it is considered 'cheating'?]

Did I forget to mention that she says she solo's AV's even though she uses nukes, shivs, warwolves, hvas heavies, insps, and MORE to "solo" them. Oh wait I already said that. Oh well may as well say it again. Not sure about the 4 times in a minute, but the "SOLO"'ing is true...if you call THAT solo'ing...

true solo is no temps no insps

    [/ QUOTE ]
This is always a gray area when it comes to defining soloing a challenge. Yours is the most strict definition I've heard. Nearly everyone else would say you can use insps like crazy and you're definitely still soloing.

The use of temp powers is where people have different opinions. Personally I have no problem with someone who says they soloed a challenge if they disclose that they used temp powers. To me that's still in the realm of soloing, it's just not quite as hardcore-mode as someone who doesn't use temps. The key is just being upfront and disclosing it.

    [/ QUOTE ]

If you use pets (MM, Dom, Troller, (DS or VS), is it still soloing?
  21. Would like a quick review pretty please.

    Arc ID: 95278
Arc Title: Gathering the Four Winds
    Author @Deadgods
    Morality: Villain
    Number of Missions: 3
Description: A few artifacts have been stolen from Skornne by a group of her charges and she would like their return.

It is a challenge arc (nothing below a Lt).

    Thanks in advance!
  22. Thanks for taking the time to research the reviewers and compile this list. Personally, I didn't know who was being consistent with their desire to do reviews and what everyone may have been looking for.

I went with, who I presumed, was the most active reviewer at the time and took the risk of finding the common ground between how they tended to review and what I was trying to accomplish with my arc. (Phailed ).

This list should be very helpful for matching my arcs with intended reviewer/audience a tad bit better.

    Thanks again.
  23. Oversight: I had the level range begin at 25; changed it to 38.
