  1. Ryan nodded back to Annette and Linda, raising his glass of punch in toast to them.

"Got a good feeling about tonight." He remarked to himself, before blinking and quickly touching the wooden surface on the podium. He blinked a bit as he saw Cara, and an orange blur darted from the podium to where she was to offer an arm, his hair not even out of place, even with the burst of super speed. "Cara, hey... and wow. That's quite the dress you've got on."

    -----------

Entering through the main doors came Juan Ross, Sophie Reynalds, Isaac Anderson and Minako Nishzumi. The two couples nodded politely to the others as they made their way to get some drinks. Well, Juan nodded politely. Sophie waved excitedly, Isaac flirted his way there, and Minako seemed to marvel at the light show going on behind them, and all the background noise of the happy (If some being slightly nervous) students.

Out of the four, Isaac Anderson, the platinum blond haired owner of The Pits nightclub and Sophie's fiancee and date, was the best dressed. In a black suit and red silk shirt, his beard was clipped neat and his fingers, earrings and cufflinks adorned with silver, onyx and ruby jewellery. His blue eyes were bright behind the black rimmed, red tinted glasses he wore, though every so often a crimson glow would envelop his eyes... just -what- was he using his shadow powers for?

Sophie, the somewhat radioactive New Vigilant student, had indeed been telling the truth when she mentioned her dress promamently featured safety pins, the home made outfit had a punkish-goth appeal to it, what with the safety pin clasped sides showing off a fair bit of pale grey skin, black velvet and neon green lace showing off her legs at the sides, and a completely bare back. Her long white hair was pinned up and spiked in places, and all of her usual piercings in her eyebrows, ears, nose, lips and tongue were replaced with silver bars with emerald studs on. A small window in the front of her dress showed off the naval piercing. Thankfully none of the others were on show. Sophie also wore a pair of rounded glasses with green lenses, much like Isaac's rectangular ones.

Juan was dressed much like Isaac, in a black suit with a tie and a light blue shirt. He lacked the jewellery that his best friend wore though, and his three eyes peered about searching for faces he knew among the students he worked with. And trying not to spend too long looking at the group he was with for fear of mesmerization.

Minako, the Japanese girl who taught art at the Tower on some weekends, was dressed in a rather slinky black dress, her long black hair, tinted slightly with purple, was done up in an oriental style, with a few pieces of gold jewellery with pink stones offsetting it.

    -----------------

Rushmore, well, in this form Jamie Matthews was waiting outside Joanna Zicky's door, dressed in the suit he rented for the occasion. His hair was in its usual style (though some often joked it was more just how he found it when he woke up in the morning), and the young man looked a little nervous as he paced around the front of the door in circles, his dark grey suit having a rather strange blue flower for a boutonniere, and in his hands was a similar corsage for his date.

((Those who know Alraune will recognize those flowers.))

    ------------------------------------

More and more students were filing into the lobby for the prom. Quickfrost was there, looking slightly uncomfortable in trousers and a black shirt with white tie, but the young Latino woman he brought as his date seemed to admire it. Rho was dressed in a fine desiner suit, the student from a wealthy family flirting it up with some of the girls. Sleight was rather reticent in one corner of the room, the telekinetic girl dressed in a rather poofy skirted dress. The other students came in a range of fashions, from the formal to the casual formal, and a couple stood out like sore thumbs in just jeans and t-shirts.
  2. ((If you're a New Vigilant member of the Unity Vigil, or are attending one, feel free to step in. This might come out a little oddly, seeing as we'll have a lot of NPC's about and characters, but mostly it's to thrash out a fair idea of the night, any pertinent scenes or conversations, and have something to refer to ICly at a later date.))

    ------------------------------------------

1850 Hours, Vigilance Tower, Skyway City. The Lobby.

It's amazing what some manpower, some Vigilant-power and some students decorating could do to the lobby in Vigilance Tower in the space of an afternoon. At the Northern end of the lobby, there was a stage set up for the DJ's equipment, as well as a podium for the New Vigilant's leader, Cindersnap, to speak from to welcome everyone. At the southern end of the statue were the doors to the toilets, and the lobby's chairs had been moved to that area along with some coffee tables to let people sit and relax.

The reception desk had been turned into a buffet area, trays laden with finger food from the cafeteria, bowls of fruit punch and drinks machines, with some Vigilant gynoids and androids, still dressed in their black and white uniforms, providing help where needed.

The Western side of the lobby, where the large glass window was with the sets of doors leading out to Unity Plaza were, as always, manned by the Vigilants, and several laser machines had been set up near by to provide a light show during the prom. A nice touch were the red carpets on the floor leading towards the main area.

Towards the Eastern end of the lobby, where the large elevators provided access to the rest of the tower along with four sets of staircases, more chairs had been set up on the raised platform for students to rest on, along with directions up to the common rooms where various activities were set up, some focusing on the younger students.

The time had begun for the students (and their dates, if they had them) to begin making their way to the lobby.

Ryan Andrews stood on the stage, his hair immaculately done and dressed in a rather stylish black suit, deciding to forgoe the tie or bowtie. Too formal is something Cindersnap just didn't do. Learning from his earlier speech, he left the flashcards to others. Resting against the podium, he sipped from a glass of fruit punch, before glancing around the lobby. Not long to go now.
  3. Zortel be willing, yar. I'm good for days.
  4. Also, as far as I understand, Supergroups -don't- move with you when you transfer, even if you're the leader.

Our guild on WoW recently moved from an RP-PVP to an RP-PVE server. So not only did we have to go to all the trouble of getting people to sign our guild charter and redoing our tabbards, the real gall came when we had to start rebuying our bank tabs, especially at a level when we're close to getting our flying mounts.

Now, imagine losing millions in prestige, crafted base items, and hard work put into bases itself? I've only recently just gotten my base looking great, if someone said "Hey, we're merging the servers, you'll lose your SG and your base." I'd be likely to say "Okay, that's 17.99 less I have to pay every two months."

A fair deal of people do -not- like losing progress, be that in characters, items, base of operation and so forth. When you add in the effort some people go to and get attached to their names and such...
  5. I'm quite happy on Union as it is, so I think I'll choose option 1. We have RP events going on a regular basis anyway. One has run at the same spot pretty much for 3 years now, every night.

Alos in your signature? Paragon City is a hub. People mostly use it to go from A to Instance B. If Paragon City had more things to do -in- it, you might see more people in it, instead of in Radio Mission Map X.
  6. If I lost my character and SG names, I'd leave. If they can't come up with a decent way round the naming and base and group issues, then no thanks to a server merge.

Also, people who have characters on each server. Imagine someone who has all their slots filled out, there's no way for them to get 48 characters (Or if they have brought character transfers, more) on one server, so they'll lose out.
  7. You had to mention the Krankies, didn't you? ><

But yes, an enjoyable story. Rogue Isles: The popular holiday destination for any hero looking for a second home!
  8. Let me tell you a tale of Final Fantasy XI.

A game where PuG's were determined to fight the incredibly tough ranking monsters as they 'gave the most exp'. Of course, the risk of death was higher, and you blew all your MP on that fight, meaning it was rest after each one. If any adds came along, you were in trouble. Between taking ages to fight the mobs and ages having to rest, you had high XP per mob, but low XP per minute.

By fighting lower ranking enemies, you'd get less XP per mob, but more XP per minute, and be able to chain kills to get an XP bonus too.

It's the same in CoH. People see Purples as giving more exp, so have to fight them. Sure, you fight them much slower if you're team isn't optimal/working together, and pick up more debt and thus level slower when one of you dies, but it's more exp per mob!

Instead of, y'know, going through mobs at a good balance of xp per mob/per minute and getting to the mission reward faster, plus less debt meaning you level faster.

It's the 'Bigger is Better' mentality. Even if a big car guzzles more gas, costs more to run and is harder to find spaces to park in.
  9. Aye, I do love that one of Rushmore, unsurprisingly. Plus it's nice to have some male characters on the art front!
  10. Oooh, if you could consider drawing Rushmore for me in his level 20 costume (Ignore the eye aura!) I'd be most appriciative.

    The costume: http://i75.photobucket.com/albums/i3...Rushmore30.jpg

  11. [ QUOTE ]
Quite a few players have stated that they are sick and tired of zone events. Because it interferes with their non event things.

    [/ QUOTE ]

True, but I'm sure quite a few players are sick and tired of the game world being nothing more than a place to gather for missions, and then get to missions, too. Plus by zone events I think they more mean the Zombie and Rikti invasions, which you can't really ignore. It's easier to ignore these, just like you can ignore a mugging or group of enemies.

    [ QUOTE ]

Also all that effort in creating events for a zone that people normally outlevel in half an hour seems to be a bit wastefull to me.

    [/ QUOTE ]
So simply because it's a low level zone, it should be saved for the higher level ones? Or should we go 'Hey, new players, look at this vibrant, active game world with all these things happening around you! You can go and do some instanced missions, or you can prowl about the streets and take down crime!'

It'd make leveling up alts easier, without going through the same old mission or grinding mobs again, you can have various events to do and get some nice little things too.

    [ QUOTE ]
About your events. I assume that completing one event can trigger the next one?

    [/ QUOTE ]

Spawning randomly, with several events going on at once across the city zones. This means there's more chance for people to do things and not get interrupted.

    [ QUOTE ]
And would it not be better to forget about giving the mobs level and use the rikti engine for the mobs? That way everybody can join the fun if they like.

    [/ QUOTE ]

The Rikti engine sucks for low level players. Sure, they don't hit you for as much, but you don't hit -them- for as much either. A Rikti being attacked by a level 1 who does 10 damage with their attack has the same HP as one attacking a level 50, who does 100 damage with an attack. Guess who loses out? Sure, it'd be nice, but they'd need to revise the system and fix the enemy hp to damage disparity first.

    [ QUOTE ]

And with the new merrit system, solving events should grant merrits perhaps to make people actually do them?

    [/ QUOTE ]

Perhaps, only if the above could get sorted out, but then you might get a high level player zipping about Galaxy farming the mini-events for Merits. WIth the benefit of a travel power, that could mean a low level player wouldn't get to experience many.
  12. These zone improvement suggestions are purely CoH focused, it being my main game. I hardly ever play Villains, so sorry those fans of CoV!

Now, as some may know, I'm a huge advocate of zone changes and reforms. I want to have options away from the endless missions and the grind of the same styles of office, warehouse, cave and Council maps.

So, let's start with the zone I've spent the most time in, Galaxy City.

The purpose of these suggetions is to bring mini events to cities, to encourage teaming outside of missions, add variety to the game overworld and some colour and flavour to the streets.

Some of the events could be announced using the technology employed in Siren's Call for hotspots and Bounty Targets, along with zone event messages coming from police bands.

Now, Galaxy City has 3 main Villain groups, Clockwork, Vazhilok and of course, Hellions. Skulls make a minor appearance.

With the Galaxy City Zone changes, there would be more of a Skull presence around Gemini Park and near the Perez Park exit (That part being Skull territory on the other side) and near King's Row's gate to Constellation Row, another piece of Skulls turf.

With Skulls presence in the area, comes a couple of Trolls and Family as well, involved in the Superdine trade. This leads to our first three events:

    Event 1: The Drugs Deal
Skulls are trading in the back alleys and a couple of abandoned houses and buildings. There may be a couple of Troll guards, or a few family goons. The hero is rewarded with a small EXP bonus, a nice influence and prestige bonus (If in an SG) and a medium inspiration for taking down the group. Additional influence and pretige is granted for taking down the Drugs Buyer mobs, who have a simple brawl or knife attack.

    Event 2: The Drugs Labs
Located in small caves in Gemini Park, and run down outbuildings and appartments in the Constallation Row Area, Skulls have set up Superdine labs to help ply their trade. As with the above, there may be a Family member overseeing operations, or some Trolls there to purchase in bulk. There is also a Superdine lab present.

When taken out, the event gives a small exp bonus, inf and prestige, and a 120 second lasting effect that increases Regen and Recovery, but has a 5% chance per 10 seconds to make your character confused for 10 seconds, from the effects of the fumes.

    Event 3: Gang Conflict
Understandably, the Hellion's aren't happy on this incursion to their turf, and have called in some of their upper eschelons from Perez to give them some firepower. In the lcoations above, you can sometimes find a group of Hellions lead by a Damned boss taking on their rivals. Taking down the group results in getting a good exp bonus, a small inf and prestige bonus, and a guarenteed Common Arcane Invention Salvage drop, plus a 10% chance for an uncommon one. Spoils of war.

Not to say that the Hellions are slacking though, they have several things going on themselves.

    Event 4: Artifact Trade
Located in some burned or abandoned buildings and lobbies, or seedy back alleys in the Equinox district, Hellions sell their wares to Outcast Buyers and Warrior Buyers (Level 5 Boss). Defeating the group rewards you with a small EXP bonus, a inf and prestige bonus, and an 80% chance of a common arcane salvage drop, 15% uncommon, 5% rare.

    Event 5: Warehouse Raid
The Hellions love their fire. But they need the materials to cause havok and burn. With the range of warehouses in the Nebula District, there's ample opportunity for them to steal goods. Once the event is announced, there's 5 minutes to interrupt them before they get away. Successfully stopping all the criminals gets you a small exp bonus, and the more barrels of flamable substances you let get away to their escape vehicle, the less prestige and influence you get. There's a 50% chance of a tech common salvage drop, 15% tech uncommon, and 35% to get a +3 to Level TO enhancement.

    Event 6: Arson Attack
The Hellions have set alight to a random building in the zone, and it's up to you and the Paragon Fire Department to put it out! Take down the Hellions and use Extinguisher packs to put out the flames along with the Paragon Fire Department NPC's, just make sure the Hellions don't make them feel the real burn. The less damage the building takes, the more inf and prestige bonus you get, plus a random medium inspiration.

    Event 7: Gang Conflict 2
In an attempt to weaken the Hellion's grasp, Skulls are sending strike teams into their dens and gathering places, including a fearsome Bone Daddy (level 5 Boss). Arresting the fighting gangs gives you an experience bonus, a small inf and prestige bonus, and a piece of common arcane salvage and a 10% chance for an uncommon one.

Let's not forget those marvellous morticians, the Vazhilok! They're certainly not slacking, and with the gang battles in the city and the new super heroes wetting their feet in the waters, there's plenty of opportunity for them.

    Event 8: Medical Supply Theft

The Vazhilok are using sewers to sneak into the hospital, or ambushing supply vans, Health Stop shops and ambulances! Defeat the villains and watch out for if they decide to bring one of their fearsome Eidolons with them, and along with a small exp bonus and an inf and prestige bonus, there's a chance of you getting a temporary Medkit power with 5 uses (Heals 20% HP) for all involved as thanks.

    Event 9: Vazhilok Vultures
Disgustingly, the Vazhilok are preying on fallen criminals to harvest. Not only by stopping them do you give the criminal some dignity in death, but prevent more fearsome cadavers and abominations roaming the street. By taking down this group wherever you find them in back alleys, under bridgers or preting in gang dens, you get a small exp, inf and prestige bonus, plus a common tech invention salvage drop and a 10% chance at an uncommon one.

    Event 10: Rescue the Homeless!
The Vazhilok have rounded up some homeless from the streets, and are marching them back to their sewer surgeries to begin their grim work. Watch out for the Eidolon and save as many as you can before they get lost to the sprawling tunnels and ducts below the city. You get a small exp bonus, an inf and prestige bonus, plus a medium inspiration for rescuing them, with the inf and prestige bonus reducing for however many are lost.

Still to come for Galaxy City: The Clockwork, Longbow and Random Encounters.
  13. Sadly, thanks to Travel Suppression, I don't think we'll ever get that. We don't get that many flying enemies as it is, anyway.
  14. I thought the elemental shields were there for people using Icy/Firey/Electric/Stone Melee in combination with Shields, so the player had a thematic option.
  15. They did introduce banking when they brought in the flight poses, but removed them due to the randomization of flight poses and when they reintroduced the emotes, they didn't bring banking back in.

    Requesting /e doabarrelroll though. ;P
  16. Not if you introduced a hard limit on the amount of charges, like the Accolade powers have, I believe.
  17. Update the image with every issue, I'd say. So around 3-4 months apart, so while there'll be some patching to do, not massive amounts
  18. I had no preperation for the tour, no notes, and pretty much winged everything on the fly. Ah, the Zortel way. :P

Yes, the UV does have several spare coalition slots.
  19. Vigilance Tower, Unity Plaza - The Astral District, Skyway City.

    The Lobby, 2pm.

The large, vaulted lobby with the glass front had been quickly prepared after lunch for the address. Vigilants had been busy in setting up the rows of chairs for the students to sit on, and at the back was seating for the parents of some prospective students. Where the reception desk usually stood, a platform had been erected for the leader of the New Vigilants to stand on.

Cindersnap was up there at the moment, flicking through some flash cards with a frown on his face. The young man had certainly aged a bit since he took the job on, mental changes reflecting physically in the way he carried himself and his expressions. He noted the camera drones far in front of him, ready to record the address to send to those that couldn't make it.

"... Alright, let's do this. BODICIA, notify the students to make their way to the lobby and take seats, and bring the prospective students and their parents in to sit behind them." He asked up to the ceiling, before checking his black and orange uniform over again.

"Can't believe I'm nervous." He remarked to one of the Vigilants. "You go on TV, you go on stage, but talking to over a hundred students and some parents?"

"Is there anything you require, Ryan?" The Vigilant asked.

"... No, no. It's fine." Ryan smiled, nodding politely to the parents coming in to the back of the rows of seats with their children. From behind him, students began to make their way out from the elevators and staircases, each of them dressed in their uniforms, the mix of black and a colour of a students own choice creating a riot of colour as they made their way to their seats.

There were a row of seats to his right on the platform, that were soon filled by the blue haired Fusebox, sitting closet to Ryan, followed by Nitoichi, Enlightened Falcon and Leo Wright. The leader of the New Vigilants smiled to them before resting his elbows on the podium, taking a look at his flash cards once more as the students continued to fill the chairs.

"Never realise how many there is till you see them like that." He remarked idly behind him, before BODICIA gave the signal that everyone was seated.

"Good afternoon everyone, and thank you for coming. I..." Ryan trailed off and looked at his flashcards, flicking through them again before throwing them into the air. A burst of fire from one finger ignited them into cinders.

"Alright, flash cards are silly, a bad idea, and let's just forget I ever started reading from them." Ryan grinned, hopping up to sit on the podium. "Firstly? Great to see all you guys and girls! Seeing the New Vigilants in front of me like this? Well, and some behind and to my right? Makes me think that we're great."

Looking around, he waved to a couple of the students. "The bad news is, this is probably going to take a while. The good news is that Mr Connor won't have you running about the gym growing gills for a while, and nor will you have to listen to another one of my 'Power Synergy' lectures. Yeah, sorry about them."

"To get started though, you guys are doing -great-." Ryan grinned. "Can I get a cheer for yourselves?" A few of the more boisterous and confident students cheered.

"Oh come on guys, you can do better than that... well, I know some of our audio-manipulators can, but please, be mindful of the windows." Ryan laughed. "So then, how about a cheer for you guys, some of the most cool students out there!"

The cheer was rather deafening this time.

"Much better! But really, I mean, you're learning to use your powers, to control them, to not accidently turn glass to sand or melt ice cream before you can eat it, all those other things. And that's why a lot of you are here. And those of you who're here to learn to be heroes when you're older? Or even just boosting up your knowledge? You guys are impressing even the guys over in the other Tower, and some of them have heroed longer than even I've been alive."

Taking a slight breath, Ryan hopped off the podium and wandered up the stage. "Next Friday, from seven PM in here, we'll be having the Christmas Prom! First one ever, there'll be stuff for you younger students to do, because I know some of you would rather not watch the older students dance and make kissy faces at each other, stuff for you older students to... heck, stuff for -everyone- to do. Dancing, socializing, food, drinks, activities in the common and rec rooms. Dress up a little if you want, it is a Prom after all, not expecting anyone to break the bank for a full tux, I mean, just some nice trousers and a shirt are fine for the guys. Girls, wear whatever makes you feel gorgeous."

"Of course, like at any times, there's no alcohol, smoking or narcotics allowed at the Prom. Anyone found in possession of them will -really- tick me off, as I'll have to stop dancing with my boyfriend to come and sort you out. So just don't. It's not cool or fun. Boring stuff out the way of there."

Glancing about again, Ryan grinned. "Maybe I was a bit too hasty in burning those cards, ah well, if in doubt, wing it. Next up, classes and the like. For the sake of our prospective students, their parents, and some of the new ones I see from the Open Evening yesterday, I'll cover the main points of them."

Tapping a finger to his chin, Ryan grinned suddenly. "Oh, right, policy change first. As of January 12th, when you all come back from your Christmas Braek to resume studying, there will be a change to age brackets. The first will be from ten years old to thirteen. Next bracket is fourteen to seventeen, then eighteen to twenty one. Our final bracket is twenty two... to twenty five. That's right, the age limit has gone up and down in the New Vigilants. Going down? Well, we've had some younger people with abilities that have already been attending, so why not make it official? As for going up, well, there's a bit of a clause for that. See, you need to have been a member before twenty two. That bracket is for those students who want to stay on and learn some more, help train others, or for those who have become student leaders."

Gesturing to the row to his right, Ryan smiles. "And here we have some student leaders, myself included. The scheme's been working great, so we're rolling it out now from the testing phase. Some of you will be picked to study under us guys, we'll be responsible for your progress, discipline and help with training. To keep you all on your toes as well, there'll be some inter team competitive games and practices, successful teams will get some nice, but nothing major, little perks. Still working on the exact rewards, but if it proves to be a problem, we'll remove them and just keep things for fun."

"As for your student leaders, well, you already know me for one. I'm training Rushmore, Rho, Gray Geiger, Burned Ice, Lo-Fi Boy, Hi-Fi Girl and Sleight. Fuse here has students including Lyrical Cyclone, Tracey and Penumbral Paradox. Nitoichi's got Quickfrost, Firefight and Tabby among others under her wing, and I'd like to introduce to you two new student leaders for the new term, Enlightened Falcon and Leo Wright. They'll be getting their students assigned to them soon. And of course, those of you who excel in your studies? You might be sitting up here too, with your own group of students to train."

Ryan grabbed a cup of water and took a long sip. "Finally, to classes. Sorry for the detour. The main classes we do here are the power training ones. In these, well, we teach you how to control your gift, whatever that may be. That's the main goal of the New Vigilants. To stop you guys from breaking your parents toasters with static, or phasing out of your bed. Or sending the whole class to sleep around you." Cindersnap smiled.

"In addition to this, we offer tuition for various school subjects, and for those of you who've moved here, well, you know we provide help with getting into one of the various schools in the area. It can't all be powers and explosions, after all, can it? We'll be increasing help with tuition and getting study groups set up for you guys too, moreso than we have now."

"Then there's the hero training we offer. We've got some great new classes lined up for next term, with some great teachers to guide you. The emphesis as always is three fold. Working alone, working together, and having the knowledge and skills needed for on the field. Fusebox here has some great new hacking classes lined up, and I'll be teaching you guys new ways to use and combine your powers too."

The young man took another sip of water before continuing. "We're offering the same facilities as before, with some new additions. The gyms will be there for all of you to use, along with the training rooms. New activities and groups for you to do and join in with, clubs, and an expanded cafeteria menu. Wait till you see the new options. Of course, they're healthy, delicious and nutritious, and we'll work closely with parents to cover any dietary concerns and eating programs, and we're always allergy concious."

Rubbing a hand across his chin, Ryan smiled. "I don't know what else to say, really. Change is coming, change always does. But we'll be there to meet it. We've got so many exciting things planned, and I'm glad to have you guys with us. We'll be working closer than ever before with the Unity Vigil, so you'll be brushing shoulders and getting tips from the pros, and we'll be ensuring that Vigilance Tower is a place for learning, for relaxing, and a place that you guys can be yourselves. And what are your selves? Anything you want them to be. Sky's the limit, so take life and make it yours. I'm proud of you all, so give yourselves a round of applause."
  20. Arctic Princess: Yes, it will be. I'll probably do another open evening in January sometime.

    To all RE: Base

Thanks for the compliments, it's a labour of love and I will thank ShadowGhost, whose bases I've studied to gain inspiration and ideas on how to work the engine to get something good, the issue 13 changes that allowed things such as the construction of the cinema screen and so forth.

Hoping that it and the New Vigilants base which is going ot be used as hopefully an RP instance hub will get plenty of use!

Heroes on;y rush around City Hall or expensive labs when the cake hits the fan. Poor cake.

Plus in missions sometimes it might be nice to go slowly instead of rushing forth, especially for trying to sneak a peak around corners without doing the old stop start shuffle.
  22. I'm finding that I lose my Monitor Duty Prestige bonus before I even have a chance to finish a mission. I was able to finish a mission in time on my PB with Law Officer, but I didn't notice any XP bonus.

Now, if COH looked like Neverwinters Nights, -then- I'd say it'd qualify as looking dated.
