Amy I didn't mean ancillary as in "nobody gives us a chance" I meant more in the sense that some of us aren't forum people (this is my first thread post in probably 2 years) or community leaders.
You are absolutely correct, if people want to take on more responsibilities, they should speak up and give it a go. I for one had a blast with you all!
[/ QUOTE ]
Not a problem. The thing is, I wasn't just responding to your post. There have been comments made in the past that other people should be given a chance to lead teams, and I just wanted to send the message that this is not only a possibility, but something I've been trying to make happen.
I think one of the best ways to go about this would be that if folks are interested in a particular raid position, get in touch with me and for the next raid I'll place them and the experienced leader on the same team. This should allow for people to try leading and to get feedback at the same time.
(Just a heads up, I'll be away for most of this week up until the raid, so if I don't get back to you, that is why.) -

Four full teams, at one point. Very nice turnout. A new record.
[/ QUOTE ]
Aye, amazing turnout everyone! Hope you all had fun.
We will continue next Monday, same time, same place, with Celestial Lord # 103642 Defeat the Comics Haven Staff. -
I'd just like to say a few things to clear up any misconceptions.
First off, when I arrived at the second raid, I checked in with a few people as to what was going on. Teams had been formed and I checked in with Solarina (@Stormwrek), who then gave me the go ahead to lead the raid. I kept all of the team leads in place that had already been established, except for Athena, who I apologize to for perhaps not handling the situation as graciously as I could have. Athena, I understand you've had experience targeting past raids. Unfortunately, i9 raids are completely different than the old ones, and therefore so is the targeter's job. Especially during the yellow phase, targeting the wrong mito can cause the raid to wipe, costing us time and EoEs. Because of this, and because of the fact we were starting late on a Sunday night, I felt it better to put in someone with experience such that we could get the raid done and not keep people up late before work on Monday. It was a decision not intended to offend you, but simply done in the interest of time.
Secondly, I'd like to state something very clearly. We have been leading raids on a weekly basis since the fall '08. There has not been a single time where anyone has approached me about taking on a lead position. I have stated several times that if anyone was interested, please let me know. I certainly do not want people to feel like 'ancillary' members of the raid. Quite the contrary. When I started leading the raids, it was my goal to try to get as many people able to lead the teams as possible such that it would be easy for people to pick up and raid. However, if you do not express interest, I have no way of knowing who is willing to help out.
With those things in mind, anyone who would like to lead teams, just let me know. Or if another group of people would like to step up and try to lead raids on Sundays, I have no problem alternating with them. It simply comes down to communicating to me what your intentions are, and I'll try my best to be accomodating. -

Very good! woot! can i ask what you did about the towers? the next time i run a all def MoSTF, im thinking of skipping all the towers and going str8 to LR. Or atleast just taking out green tower.
[/ QUOTE ]
We took down all the towers while our Dark Defender tanked him with a lot of buffs. I was the Empath on the team, so the whole ordeal more or less left me with an ulcer, but we did it! -
That's a nice haul, Net.
As for doing it again, I spoke to a few of the team leaders who stepped up for the second raid about leading on a more regular basis. I think everyone did a great job for being thrown into some of these positions, however more extensive preparation and experience always helps. I'm willing to speak to whoever is interested in occupying a lead position and discuss with them any tips our usual leaders have picked up since we started the raids last fall. Hopefully, if enough people are willing, we may be able to have two raids happening on a more regular basis. -
Great job everyone! The fact that we pulled off 2 raids tonight is awesome. Thanks to everyone who came out and participated.
-
I've gotten a few questions as to whether or not we'll still be having a raid this Sunday because it is Father's Day. I don't seem to have any plans currently for tomorrow evening, so I will be there to lead the raid as per usual. It's possible that we may not have enough people, but that is something we can evaluate as the raid is forming.
See you at the raid. -

Amy, you have brightened up my day. Thank you.
I wonder how many people are gonna roll a Ron Superbeast just because of this post.
[/ QUOTE ]
He doesn't like to talk about that period of his life.
[/ QUOTE ]
Aye, it was a rough time.
And LOL Ash, great pic. -
Thank you Steel and the UHBers who have come out to support this event! Good luck with your arc. Hopefully we can run it someday.

Speaking of girls on the internet...
There have been rumors going around for quite some time that I am a bearded lumberjane woman. Well, Id like to take the opportunity to confirm said rumors and tell everyone a bit about myself and how I became the best lumberjane in Canada.
First off, my real name is Jane LumberMcSuperbeast. Here is a picture of me in my lodge. However, before I joined the Superbeast family and mastered my trade as a lumberjane, I had a rough start at life. It was years ago, when I was abandoned as an infant and placed in a hole in a rotting tree. Everything was just peachy until I had my first near death experience as a pack of rabid moose tried to attack me. My little hands trembled with fear as the moose came closer, until out of the corner of my eye, I saw Buttercup, the strongest, most noble moose in existence. One moose to rule them all. She took out every last rabid moose and rescued me from my hole in the tree.
Buttercup and I travelled many moons to the nearest civilization, during which time we had many a profound discussion. At the end of our journey, Buttercup looked into my eyes and told me that she saw a great potential that was not to be wasted. She needed to find me a good home. Thus, it was at that point that we decided to seek out the best lumberjacks in existence in order to have me raised properly as a wood chopping, axe sharpening Canadian girl.
Our search found us at the door of Jim Superbeast and Superbeast Ron Superbeast, two glorious lumberjacks who are now my fathers. Word on the street is that none other than Paul Bunyan himself trained these two men. Superbeasts first name used to be Ron, but he didnt like it so he added his last name again such that Ron became his middle name. Its a time in his life he doesnt like to talk about. Jim Superbeast has always been a model lumberjack and won many a beard growing competition. In fact, he was the record holder at the Canadian Semi-Annual Beard Off of Canada for many, many years until I managed to beat him in 96, the first female winner of the competition. Jim was secretly an expert at speed crochet, and until I could grow my own beard, he would make me one to wear. Interesting that when I did grow one I beat him, but thats irony for you.
Actually, it was because of my victory at the Canadian Semi-Annual Beard Off of Canada (CSABOC) that I found City of Heroes. The prize that year for winning the competition was something none of us had ever heard of before, a com-pu-ter. I was told that inside this computer, I could find a place called teh internetz. I had not seen Buttercup for many years, but it was then that she made a spontaneous appearance. She pulled me aside and whispered words of great wisdom that only a leader of moose would utter: Go, little Jane LumberMcSuperbeast, and represent your kind amongst the heroes of teh internetz. The people have forgotten the mighty lumberjacks and lumberjanes of the world. It is your duty to spread the word.
I have a feeling that one day, Buttercup will return and tell me to head back to the wilderness and embrace my lumberjane roots with a special someone. But until that time comes, I am here to fell villains like the mighty oak. -

Right now, I'm enjoying Kin/NRG way more than I probably should be.
Pewpewpew + 25% permanent damage bonus + permanent travel power and recharge bonus at an early level = win!
[/ QUOTE ]
this is one of my favorites (i'm still a sucker for rad/rad though), this combo plays well, with /NRG's KB helping with the lack of mitigation in KIN/, and it works thematically, which i know isn't important to everyone, but it's the meat of the game for me.
[/ QUOTE ]
I'm going to have to cast a vote for Kin/Energy as well. Please note, I'm largely biased by the fact that she's my main.
I like playing her because it's a bit of an underdog combination. Generally, people tend to frown upon the KB aspect of Energy being paired with Kinetics. However, it's a good day for me when I nuke and someone says "We have an Energy Blaster on the team?" -
[ QUOTE ]
I play almost exclusively redside, but I tried to keep the tone 'right' for either side. I've always loved these community events when I can find time...I'd love to join in next week, if there's room. (Provided life and work cooperate. Durned reality.)
[/ QUOTE ]
Happy to see some villain interest! Don't worry about there being room on a team. What we usually do is create as many teams as we can with the people that come. It doesn't always work out perfectly, but for the most part we've been good at finding teams for people.
I hope you can make it for the night we play your arc. It's always nice to have the author there with the team. -

hum.. how can you have an EMP to do a redside hami????
[/ QUOTE ]
huh......did they change the way Hamidon is raided now?
Last time I leaded one we just went in with over a hund peeps and [censored] the mitos LOL
[/ QUOTE ]
Yep, since i9, Hamidon has been completely changed so that the old raid strategy is no longer used. Villains are also now able to complete Hami raids in a zone called The Abyss. -
I definitely remember you from the old Hami Raids and I remember the SG Atlas Heroes. I also recall the name Alpha R but have not seen him around for a while.
Anyways, welcome back. -
Thanks all for another great MA Monday! We were able to fill 3 teams and completed 3 arcs. Right now the thread is running low on arcs, so please post yours if you have one you'd like played.
Next week, we will start with Gideon F's second arc, followed by Hathor's "Ancient Egypt Returns". See you then. -
Just a reminder we'll be meeting again tonight at 7:30pm EST in RWZ for some more arcs by Champions. Here's the list for this evening:
1) Lt. Frost #41841
2) Ashcraft #164681
3) Gideon F #35635
4) Gideon F #121231 -
I had a great time. Thanks for hosting this event HSO.
-
I just wanted to apologize for last night. I crashed out of the game and was unable to log back on for quite some time. I feel badly about not being able to complete the TF with you guys.
Hope the rest of it went well. -
I don't know about anyone else, but if I don't see this on the next episode of MythBusters, I'm going to be pretty upset.
-
Sounds fun. I will try my best to be there!
