The scariest NPC ever would be the Queen from Aliens; I truly regret that we can't have her in the game. If there was such a thing as an Alien MMO I would so be there.

The original Playstation had an Alien game where you had to fight her. It was just awful

I am immune to spider NPCs since we have so many running around in the game now, and clowns don't bother me. But that's just me.

It does not matter one whit whether or not what Twixt was doing was "against the game zone mechanics or rules." What matters was that people did not find it enjoyable or even amusing. These sort of behaviors are only [marginally] forgiveable if they are funny.

Its not "against the mechanics or rules" for some crazy homeless guy to follow you around next time you are at your local shopping mall, shouting insults, curses and threats. He's not actually hurting you, after all. Do we not have freedom of speech? He actually has a right to tell you what he thinks of you, by dint of US law...

Do you LIKE that behavior though? Probably not, and you're most likely not going to look kindly upon the person doing the cussing, unless you are a literal saint.

Twixt thought there was a chance that he could do the PvP version of that and be hailed as a great guy and loved by all, evidently. Frankly that was an outlandishly foolish supposition on his part. There is nothing in the least truly academic about that paper of his, and his theory flies in the face of even a basic knowledge of human nature.

In EQ, when you died, you had to journey from your bindpoint (usually in a city) to where your corpse was and loot all the gear and inventory. If your corpse despawned (we called it 'rotted') you lost all the gear and whatnot on it.

'Loot and Scoot' was, for PVP EQ players, the equivalent of saying 'Yep, I'm beat. You win. Let me loot my corpse and I'll vacate the premises.'

The alternative was 'corpse camping', where the grief-player would stand over the corpse and attempt to keep anyone from looting it. It was difficult, but if he kept at it, he could keep the original owner from looting and eventually cause him to lose all his gear due to corpse rot.

Honestly, I was reading those Fansy pages and even though I have never played EQ i was laughing out loud, while at the same time realizing how infuriating having someone like him in the game would be. I've never seen anything even remotely like that in CoX, and I'm glad. Seen a few Behemoths trained on Portal Corp, but anyone with two functioning synapses can get out of the way of those...

Fansy is like a definition of "antisocial behavior." If Twixt was one-tenth that bad, he has absolutely no one to blame for his vilification than himself... and I feel this is indeed the case.

If you treat other people like that, you're going to catch hell as a result. Fansy seemed to know that and take that in stride, which I can certainly respect more that an entire "scholarly" paper whose subtitle might as well be "QQ."

Strikes me Twixt needs to man up some.

Well, maybe. But here's the thing that it amazes me that this guy was not smart enough to figure out:

A basic tenet of human nature that I'd think even an intelligent grade-schooler could grok, although of course not in adult-speak. I'd expect a guy with a phD to be smarter than this.

This guy found out the gaming community is not comprised of so many Mother Theresas. WELCOME TO REALITY DUDE. And he was ticking off the most vicious and hostile people in the entire game, PvPers. Yeah, THAT was gonna end well.

p.s. Not all PvPers are vicious and hostile, but the majority of them engaging in zone PvP certainly are. I can only go by what I see.

I have also never seen KB protect me or anyone from a mez or a sleep, but clearly... sheesh. This is ridiculous.

You people act like because a few ATs have GODMODE, that this is some Ultimate Answer for every last character in the game. My Blaster could care less that that tanker at the other end of the RWZ has GODMODE mez-protection. She's busy worrying if Stunning Arrow is actually going to hit that Mesmerist she's sighting down the shaft at.

I don't see why. Let's get rid of all Damage, because we have Damage inspirations. That is not one whit more ridiculous than people saying that we don't need status protection ever, because we have Breakfrees.

I don't want an entire new pool devoted to Status Protection, what I'd like is mitigation between the two extremes we have now of GODMODE and NONE. This could easily be inserted somewheres within various primary and secondary pools we have now.

But hey, lets take everything out of all pools and just use Inspirations. For the win!

Count me as another one; I find nothing funny or cute about being turned into a desk lamp.

I'd prefer that they create another emote with the pumpkin only, thereby allowing everyone to be happy. As it is now though, I think turning into a desk lamp or a barrel or a wooden box is stupid, and this has spoiled my enjoyment of the emote. Which is too bad, because it was one of the best.
