Example: diamonds. Expensive, cause wars and all manner of strife. But people pay big money for them so people do what's needed to get them.
Yes I realize blood diamonds are bad. The analogy is purposeful because economies are often brutal and there are winners and losers. You can't stop that.

Well, you always take the tax (fee) that WW's charges and give it to the poor. Not necessarily directly, but in Enhancement Stamps or programs that teach poor toons how to farm Dreck. -
Hmmm... trying to understand... how would you reasonably grief/intercept me if I did this:
1. Rich toon on ServerA makes bids on Level 5 ToHitDebuff TOs offering 10 influence each until they're all bought out (at that low price). So, there are no more Level 5 ToHitDebuffs in WWs that are 10 inf or less.
2. Switch to poor toon on ServerB and flood WW's with 10 Level 5 ToHitDebuffs for the asking price of 1 inf* each. Wait and see if anyone's going to buy and resell in order to intercept**. If I get no buys in 10 minutes, then...
3. Switch to rich toon on ServerA and put in three buy orders for Level 5 ToHitDebuffs for 2 inf each.
4. Switch to poor toon and see if I just sold three Level 5 ToHitDebuffs. If yes...
5. Switch to rich toon and put in a buy order for a Level 5 ToHitDebuff for 10 million inf. Since I had seven Level 5 ToHitDebuffs in WWs queue, all at the lowest possible price, no one can sneak another Level 5 ToHitDebuff ahead of me. If someone were to use the buy and resell intercept method, they'd have to know to do it at least seven times in a row in order to intercept. And if they are online and buying up all sorts of lowballed TOs, see**.
*(Adjust the 1 influence to minimum order amount.)
**(And if there are interceptors online, I'll just screw around with them by continually dumping all types of Level 5 enhancements on the market with multiple toons making them mad.)
Of course, this is what I'd do if I had just one account. As it is, I'll dual-box it my two accounts and instantly buy with one toon what the other is selling. So, go ahead with the global ID block. -

Random suggestion via Quick Reply: Treat Mayhem/Safeguard mission completion the same as Plot Arc completion for Recipie/Salvage drops.

Like Story Arcs, you can not currently exempt down do to Mayhems/Safeguards as the mission holder. If I, as a level 50, want the Taunt bonus that comes only from a level 30 IO Set and go to Bricks/St.Martial, the newspaper/scanner won't give me missions. And so, they'd have to implement Flashback for Mayhems/Safeguard... to much coding in too short a time. Not an option.
In fact, speaking of coding....
Any solution will have to be a database adjustment solution in order for the solution to be out in time for I9. Any proposal that requires game coding is off the table. So, everyone, please stop dreaming up new content or mechanics... it ain't going to happen. -
Read the thread, people:
1. Flashback -- Not happening. Drop it.
2. Repeatable Story Arcs for 50s (shard, mayhems, whatevers) -- Not a solution for picking up a level 30 set for that coveted special bonus or proc only available to that level 30 set. -
Even with the one hour lockdown, it's obvious that hardly anyone is reading the whole thread before responding, or, they're hopelessly confused.
Inventions Forum needs a one day lockdown and for threads to follow Developer's Corners rules of one post per person in between Dev posts. -
Oops, forgot to mention another way to make opposite/complementary colors work: Slightly shift the hue of one of the colors. If you have red and green and the colors 'swim' and clash against each other, shift the red toward the yellow for an orangish red or toward the blue for a purplish red.

We All Agree Story Arc Drop Pool is a Bad Idea, Stop Arguing Against It
This mostly falls under the category of "if you're not going to read the thread, don't participate in it." We've got a redname telling us they're looking for a different solution. It ain't going to happen the way it was originally explained, so, let it go.
Possible Solutions <ul type="square">[*] [u]Flashback[u] - Off the table. We've been told it's not a feasible solution coding-wise unless you want I9 delayed for a really long time, and that delay is not something the devs will consider. Stop arguing for it (as a solution to this problem). Let it go.
[*] [u]Mayhem/Safeguards To Be Included in Story Arc Pool[u] - NO!, bad idea, precisely because we don't have a flashback system. If I want a level 30 recipe set that gives my pets a chance to taunt, and I'm currently level 50, I can't pick up level 30 Mayhems. It's the same problem as Story Arcs.
[*] [u]Small Percentage of Drops from Other Pools[u] - NOOO! As we learned from the Halloween event, anything under 10% chance of a event or drop is disaster for some unlucky few who need to repeat an action over 300 times just to get that rare drop. Do you really want to do a TF 300 times to get a Story Arc Pool drop?
[*] [u]Just Have Three Pools[u] - Simplicity itself. There's no magic about the number 4, in fact, in the early levels, there are only 3 pools to begin with. Move the rare drops from Story Arcs into the other pools. Allow Story Arcs to be a 'wild card' pool that drops rares from the other pools.
Concerns/Questions
Correct me if I'm wrong, but when we exemplar/malefactor down, we don't get Ehancement drops, right? Do we still get salvage drops when exemplared? I can't remember. -
Complementary Colors...
The debate of complementary colors is a complex one in that both sides are correct! The OP warns of 'clashing' colors, and yet, it's the complementary colors that are most likely to clash if they are given the same intensity and weight.
If you put a bright red and bright green next to each other in bold, wide stripes, your vision will 'swim' near the colors' borders. Same with any two complementary colors.
However, if you reduce the weight of one of the colors (make it a small trim, e.g.), separate them from each other (red symbol on a white emblem on a green background), or alter the tone of one of the colors (reduce the intensity, or lighten it into a pastel, or darken one of the colors, such as a dark maroon on green).... then they really will complement each other.
The better design rule is to pick a major color and 'accent' it with its complementary color in a form that does not give it equal weight. -

Zombie_Man,
Thanks for that information. I ran the Ganymede missions last night (we did have 1 villain with us). We couldn't figure out why we couldn't get Scratch's missions.
[/ QUOTE ]
The villain on your team has to talk to Scratch and pick up the mission. The team leader can then select it.
If the villain on your team can't pick up the mission, then it's possible that villain has too many outstanding mission arcs that need to be closed out first. -
Just in case the Paragon Wiki site goes down, and so there's a record of the guide, I'm posting the plain text version of the guide here.
Overview
In order to celebrate the one year anniversary of Pocket D, DJ Zero has recreated last year's Valentine event.
The event is scheduled to run from Feb 13 through March 4.
Unlike the Valentine's Day Event 2006, you do not automatically get a badge for simply logging in (badges are now all in special missions), nor is there a promotional offer that allows you to unlock a special costume item (that item and other costume unlocks are all in special missions).
Stage One - Working together
Two mission contacts, Ganymede and Scratch, are added to the new Pocket D club. Ganymede assigns missions to heroes, and Scratch to villains. Upon completing missions for both contacts, a third mission contact, DJ Zero is unlocked.
As it was last year, both contacts give out a two-mission arc. Both arcs require you to bring along at least one teammate from the opposing faction to get to the end-reward. The first mission of the arc can be soloed, but you must have an opposing faction teammate to complete the second mission of the arc (only the opposing faction teammate can target and destroy the last object).
You must be in the final mission of both arcs long enough to get credit for completing those two missions in order to acquire the Handsome(male)/Beautiful(female) badge. The Handsome/Beautiful badge grants the temporary power of Nectar, a 20-use targeted area of effect confuse and placate.
If your character already has the Handsome/Beautiful badge from last year's event, you are able to do these missions again, but the badge isn't re-granted, and thus, your character does not get Nectar again.
[u]Nectar[u] Ranged (Targeted AoE), Foe Confuse, Placate
Eros has fashioned a version of Ambrosia from the waters of the Well of the Furies, which he as [sic] dubbed 'Nectar'. Eros' Nectar can be used up to 20 times on opponents to beguile them, effectively Placating and Confusing them. You have 20 doses. Recharge: Very Long [4 minutes]
You can only pick up one arc from your one contact. In order to do the other arc, you will need to get invited to an opposing faction team, or, invite an opposing faction teammate into your team and have that person pick up the mission.
Ganymede (Hero Contact)<ul type="square">[*] Mission 1 - Defeat-all, Council Base, click computers (on solo and Heroic, it's only 21 foes).[*] Mission 2 - Arachnos Base - Find key, destroy box. (Key is within a hall or two of the locked elevator with a named boss, Tupelo, and his spawn.)
Scratch (Villain Contact)<ul type="square">[*] Mission 1 - Defeat Circle of Thorn leader, Terrigol, and his coven; Oranbegan Map (can be stealthed to the boss battle).[*] Mission 2 - Arachnos Base - Find key, destroy cauldron. (Key is within a hall or two of the locked elevator with a named boss, Finch and his spawn.)
Female Heroes and Villains who completed the second mission from both Ganymede and Scratch received the Beautiful Badge
Male Heroes and Villains who completed the second mission from both Ganymede and Scratch received the Handsome Badge
Several normally City of Villain only badges are available to heroes in this part of the event. Weed Whacker Badge, Coldblooded Badge, and two gladiators. These badges are for certain villain style Circle of Thorns enemies. When done right, Scratch's first mission gives heroes access to these enemies, and thus the badges. In order to spawn a map with City of Villain style Circle of Thorn enemies, a villain must be the first player to zone into the map. This flags the entire mission for City of Villain style enemies, and the rest of the team can then enter. The enemies necessary for the different badges spawn at different levels. Hordelings, for Coldblooded and one of the gladiators, spawn for lower level mission holders (10-20 or so), while Hellfrost and Succubi, for Weed Whacker, spawn at mid to high levels (25-40 or so). (The levels given above are not exact, and some testing to establish more exact ranges would be useful.)
Stage Two - Snaptooth again
DJ Zero will send players on a mission to prevent Snaptooth from destroying a dimensional portal. This is exactly the same mission as last year, except with a new reward pop-up menu upon completion.
Reward choices:<ul type="square">[*] Toga[*] Victory Laurel and Hellenic Sandals[*] Heart of Light Badge/Heart of Darkness Badge[*] Partygoer Badge[*] Heart Pattern - Note that the Heart Pattern is an overlay (like stripes or camo) for select tops, bottoms, and boots. (Sorry, no gloves or capes.) In general, the tops that take the Heart overlay are long sleeved tops that don't show any skin.
Strategies for Snaptooth and difficult missions:<ul type="square">
[*] Like all regular missions, the level of the foes of all these missions are set according to the mission-holder's level (not the team leader's or the highest level teammate's level) and the mission holder's difficulty. So, for example, a level 2 character can pick up a level 2 mission that can then be blown away with ease by a level 50. No experience, but all involved do get the reward popup.
[*] If you defeat Boss Level Snaptooth and run out of his aggro range while the Elite Boss level Snaptooth is spawning, then the Elite Boss level Snaptooth just sits there doing nothing giving you time to wipe out all the waves of Red Caps which are aggro'd onto you. Try leaving the mission and coming back to see if you can lose their aggro.
[*] If you have the damage capability, you can kill Snaptooth the three times over before the first wave of helpers even show up. But, if you take your time with Snaptooth, the waves will build up and overwhelm you.
[*] The waves are aggro'd onto team members. If you leave a lowbie by the entrance, the lowbie will get a visit from Red Caps, too!
[*] A solo squishy player on lowest difficulty hovering over Snaptooth with a tray of half defense, half damage inspirations is golden.
[*] Snaptooth spawns up on the airfield near the tower.
[*] Remember, while you can have teammates of the opposing faction help you with Snaptooth, the mixed team is only necessary for the second missions of Ganymede and Scratch. However, with the use of the Dimension Drop Powers, it might be worth it to bring along members of the opposing faction and give one another the powerful DDP buffs.
[*] Unlike last year where you were limited to picking up the Snaptooth mission from DJ Zero only 5 times, this year, you can get the mission from DJ Zero 10 times.
Note: There is a cool bug that appears in the NW corner of the map a few minutes after entering the mission.
Dimension Drop Powers
The event store contacts, Chilly and Dram, sell special temporary powers called Dimension Drop powers. These powers increase your teammate's damage, defense, or buff their hit points and endurance, but if used on one's traditional enemy (heroes on villains or villains on heroes), the power had a significantly greater effect. Chilly sells these temporary powers to heroes, and Dram to villains.
Badges<ul type="square">[*]Beautiful: Eros can bring out the beauty in any being[*]Handsome: Eros can bring out the beauty in any being[*]Weed Whacker: You've cut down more than your fair share of the Thorns.[*]Coldblooded: You've defeated 250 cold demons, making you Coldblooded.[*]Hordeling Lasher: You have command of infernal minions.[*]Hellfrost: This demon is amused to serve you.[*]Partygoer: You've celebrated the one year anniversary of Pocket D by participating in DJ Zero's recreation of the inaugural Spring Fling.[*]Heart of Light: Through the choices made in your life, you have been blessed with a Heart of Light.[*]Heart of Darkness: Through the choices made in your life, you have been cursed with a Heart of Darkness.[*]Toothbreaker: You have defeated Snaptooth 5 times, and are truly a Toothbreaker.[*]Cap Buster: You have shown the Red Caps you are not to be toyed with.
-

I have done it 10x on 4 different toons. I am mostly a solo player and having the limit really puts a bind on me as far as being able to pwn Snap. Is the cap there for a reason and if so then why.
[/ QUOTE ]
I've tested it and can confirm there is a 10 mission cap.
As for a reason? Yeah, Devs aren't fond of farming. Some farming they can't control, but when they can, like easily putting a cap on a repeatable mission containing an AV/EB, they will.
Anticipating your next question: Why aren't they fond of farming? That's not the game they created and want people to play. One can argue (and it has been argued many times in many threads over many forums) that the devs should let the players define what is a fun game for themselves. The Devs are unswayed by such arguments, and to continue that dead horse in this guide-thread would be pointless. (If you really do want to pursue this, then start a new thread in CoH Discussion or Player Suggestions).
Bottom line is that moving the cap from 5x to 10x is generous for these Devs and it is highly, highly, highly unlikely that they will change that. Besides, if it were to change, it would be nigh impossible for them to change the code for this year's event and a removable of the cap would only appear in the 2008 event.
Ten times is more than sufficient for a soloist to get the main badges and costume parts. This mission was not developed as a farming tool for EB prestige or for farming for rare hero-side kill X badges. -
[ QUOTE ]
Am I the only one that cares about the limit to how many times Snaptooth missions can be done?
[/ QUOTE ]
I'm going to test this 10 mission cap. Since I was allowed to do more than 5, I stopped at six and extrapolated non-stop missions, like the Winter Event (who knows, that may have had a 10 mission cap).
As for a 10 mission cap being a 'problem', it isn't for me. And I'm guessing it won't be a problem for 99% of the player base. A team of 8 can still do it 80 times. And it's theoretically limitless if you team up with other teams. -
Yeah, I know bumps are illegal, but we got several threads with people complaining about a portion of the event being bugged, when, in fact, they're just not understanding how it works. This should be stickied.
This, of course, does not apply to the real bugs. -
2007 Pocket D Jubilee Event Guide (also known as Valentine's Day Event)
Paragon Wiki Guide to the Valentine Event, 2007
The most important things to know:- You have to do the second missions of both Scratch and Ganymede to get the badge that unlocks DJ Zero's missions.
- You have to have a person of the opposing faction on your team (hero/villain co-op) to complete these second missions. Only an opposing faction teammate can destroy final object.
- You can only get missions from your contact (Scratch or Ganymede), you'll have to rely on an opposing faction teammate to pick up the missions from the other contact.
- Once you unlock DJ Zero's "Defeat Snaptooth" mission, you can do it as many times as you want {EDIT: You can only pick up DJ Zero's mission ten times}. Each time you complete it, you choose one of five rewards.
See link above for more details. -

If I can pick too - my Enemy Resistance spreadsheet is not issue-centric.

But if it wasn't updated since I6, it wouldn't be necessarily stale as much as incomplete, not containing info about new groups like Arachnos and Longbow. But, since you're updating it, I'll update the issue tag. -

I'll get that updated in the next update. Thanks. -

I don't know Red, if I linked to every guide you and Paragon Wiki have (both top notch sites I go to *all* the time), the Guide to Guides would be 70% links to your two sites. Both of you are featured in the other websites section.
But tell you what, as long as we stick to the very comprehensive guides, like the ones you link to above... I'll link them in in the next update. (Which will probably happen biweekly now that my editing privileges have expired and I need to go through Lighthouse.) -
[ QUOTE ]
The only problem I've found is that if you ever try to edit the post after you format the links like that then it will change some things. It will change all the "url=" codes to "a href=", add "target="_blank"", and then close it with "/a"...which breaks all the links. So, it works great, but once it is changed then you would have to fix the broken links if you ever edited that outline again in the future.
[/ QUOTE ]
If it weren't for the breaking of the links when editing, I'd do it. I've already edited many of the posts several times. And each post has a lot of links.
We might need the webmaster in on this to fix this. Heck, even the links in the dev digest forces me into the CoH skin (which I don't like). And the ability to override the CoH skin with the CoV skin just went missing in the the options page for me for a short while and just came back. <sigh>
Man, I just wish they'd get around to merging the two games into just one game and stop pretending they're two. Stop selling them separately. Stop having two websites where one gets more attention than the other. Stop having two bulletin boards with a less-than-perfect linking of the two boards. Just one board with two skin options and be done with it. -
This isn't a discussion forum. You'd be better off asking in CoH General Discussion or Player Questions.
