This is a great move for NCSoft going to vBulletin.
Kudos to whoever decided to actually take the plunge. -

I am acting civilized. I'm merely asking for an iota of calm in an otherwise flame-ridden thread.
As for my humorous remarks to the thread in general, please see my signature. I apologize in advance.

Iota of calm LOL...... You are a funny guy... I am quite calm. I don't consider my comments flaming, I explained a situation that has come from a previous give away. Seems to me you should reread my original post.
And regarding your apology, I have no need for it.... Stop acting like a mod... I know that is against EULA.
Have a nice life.

That said, yeah, add me to the people annoyed that they're giving these permanent in-game things to people who make the conventions, that those of us who for one reason or another cannot go can NEVER get (in spite of having given them $15 a month for four years--but that's less important apparently than stopping by a booth at a convention).
There are other things that you can only get at conventions...a chance to talk to people face to face, a chance to walk away with some schwag, a chance to get a sneak peak at whatever they're showing off (like the sneak peak some got for the City Vault). But those are inherent to going to a convention where NCNC has a presence, and I can accept that, as jealous as I can get about it. Things like this, permanent things in-game, that you COULD give to everyone, is just an extra slap at everyone else.
[/ QUOTE ]
Hello GadgetDon. NCNC understands that there are many players on the east coast who would like them to meet at conventions there. At this time, they don't have any plans for any east coast conventions, but it's definitely something they're considering in the future.
Also, I would like to point out the CoX does currently reward its long-time subscribers via the Veteran Rewards system. They understand that the costume powers are nice, and you'll get a chance to earn some temporary costume pieces during the Halloween event.
[/ QUOTE ]
Exactly....They have no plans to come East in the near future. I travel often, rarely to the west coast though.
Quite frankly I think it's crap that NCNC doesn't support it's East Coast Subscribers in their Cons.
Vet rewards you say??? I have almost 51 months and 54 months they needed to recycle a Vet Reward.
The in-game items they are giving away just become future ebay items. One guy has several of them and is CASHING IN!!!
See here.
This item at $200.00 now and already sold one for $295.00.
Looks to me like this guy will be able to pay for his trip to PAX and scam more people for your temp power trinkets.
Want to give visitors something.... Make another t-shirt or some other non in-game trinket. At least those going to make a buck can't scalp the costume junkies or in-game toy junkies.

Dear _OSHA_,
Although we on the forums appreciate constructive feedback, trolling and nonconstructive rants are a violation of the forum rules. If you have any continuing concerns, please feel free to PM Lighhouse or Ex Libris.

This game needs more, yes, LOTS more paid expansion packs. Something above and beyond a few emotes and re-hashed costume pieces.
Not only does it need more paid expansion packs, but they need to ADVERTISE them. Get new boxes on the shelves. Get people aware of it.
MOAR. OPTIONAL. PAID. EXPANSION. PACKS. PLZ.
[/ QUOTE ]
PMM, I agree with you about Expansion Packs...
This is NOT an expansion pack. This will not bring new players to the game. No pretty boxes on the shelves in stores for people to gawk at. In no way does this "fluff" as some have called it, boost or help retain player base. None at all. If they packaged it and put it on store shelves, maybe, but the reality is, its a tough sell with the limited offering it has and in this case might actually sour the MMO community and reviewers on the CoX franchise.
EXPANSION PACKS..... Sure. Properly marketed to build player base.
Add-ons with limited content and no value.... Not interested my friend.
On that note, I wish everyone a Happy Valentine's Day and I am taking my Wife to Dinner and then Tomorrow to See Mickey Mouse at Disney World in Orlando. -

This is exactly what we do not want to do.

Define "we" partner. It's YOU, you do not want. Some few others do not want. Most of us are plenty fine with the idea of being able to selectively buy non-game-breaking items such as these for a reasonable cost.
I've paid for 2 server transfers, and have pondered some name changes - those are all 10 bucks apiece too. So?
Stop buying Starbucks for 3 days. There's your 10 bucks and change, easy. It's not the price and it's not the amount of stuff, you're just not hot on having it. That's fine. Don't buy it. We got the picture already.
[/ QUOTE ]
I am sorry, but I think you have it backwards. Most are NOT happy with the idea of spending additional monies for something we have been getting all along included in our current subscription fees.
I personally bought the DVD Collector's Edition of CoV the day of release. It came with a bunch of neat stuff. 7 Hero Clix, an Art Illustration Book, some custom in game items and a badge.
Cost the Day of Release $79.99
Then a business decision was made. One, which I think was a great business decision for Cryptic and NCSoft, fiscally speaking. To combine the CoH and CoV games in to one package. POOF!!! Good Vs. Evil Edition was Born. for $39.99 you could have not one of these fine games, but BOTH. What didn't upset me was the price. What did upset me truthfully was the fact that they added a Pocket D teleporter and a Jump Pack which my characters in-game didn't have and truthfully I wasn't happy about having to pay $9.99 on my accounts to get those either. I did it, but wasn't happy about it. Yes those ARE useful in-game items. Could I have done w/o the Pocket D VIP badge? Sure. I am not a huge badger. I do badge on my main, but he's in the high 300s and compared to the Steadfast badgers here (450+) I don't compare. If the GvE edition didn't offer anything in game that affected my game play and only offered the single costume and a badge I wouldn't have bought it, neither would most of the players and I am sure many others would agree, just as many in here are upset with the sheer cost of this add-on.
Regarding the content of this Pack.....
I have seen the majority of the pieces that came with this pack in game. Frankly, Jay normally does a great job with costume design in this game. In the case of this pack, I think he dropped the ball, though I am sure it wasn't his fault and that he was rushed to put something out for this event. Most of the costume pieces are texture overwrites. Several pieces are missing that should be there. Cumberbunds, Different styles of ties (String, Bow, Dress), A LONG Dress for those heroic women who actually don't have Malibu Barbi weddings. The dresses that came with the pack look like what should be worn UNDER the actual dress, a train that doesn't look like a cape attached to the head. Sorry Jay, while I am sure you will fix the current items in the pack, perhaps next time, if there is ever, though I hope that this is an isolated instance, that another pack is released and/or if NCSoft does turn this into a Mall game that the packs be 100% correct before they are released and are priced to give value to the community though quite frankly, I think this would be a BAD direction for NCSoft to go.
I still ask all to keep this discussion civil. Regardless of our position. -

Whenever someone trots out the "if you don't like it, quit" line they have just accepted defeat. That is a completely useless and worthless thing to say. A major reason for these forums is feedback. Negative feedback should not be responded to with "just quit" from mindless fanboy sheep.
[/ QUOTE ]
and whenever someone pulls out the fangirl card, they have run out of meaningful arguements and are simply declaring victory and patting themselves on the back for how clever they are.
They fact that you are simply spewing venom and hatred toward the Devs shows that you've already made up your mind and are not even interested in considering another option.
But you can NOT deny the simple logic, if something is not fun for you... don't do it. It's really that simple.
[/ QUOTE ]
Honestly, this FanBoy/Girl and Doomsayers/DEVhaters thing is CRAP.
We are all gamers. This name calling needs to end.
I have posted a directed letter to Positron in this thread and in a private message regarding my disappointment about this new add-on pack due to its lack of content vs previous add-ons.
I support a boycott on purchasing this add-on to demonstrate unhappiness regarding the content vs its cost.
For those that don't remember NCSoft and Cryptic considered charging for an issue release. The outrage that was created made NCSoft and at that time, Cryptic, change their minds. Perhaps a call for solidarity in a case like this will show NCSoft that their subscribers aren't happy and would like to keep things status quo.
Overall NCSoft's Team has made a great game, one that I have enjoyed for over 3 and 1/2 years. With the exception of several bugs that haven't been fixed as promised in a timely manner, the new content has been very good.
Fellow Gamers, I ask one thing...
Keep this simple for NC Soft.....
If you are unhappy with the cost of this add-on because it lacks the content and perks of the last add-ons. SAY IT.
If you bought it because you needed it as you need to own everything that CoH has to offer regardless of the price. SAY IT.
If you bought it because you needed it as you need to own everything that CoH has to offer, but you think you over paid. SAY IT.
If you think the price of the add-on should be lowered to X price... SAY IT.
If you support a boycott of this add-on. SAY IT.
Beyond that Folks, lets be civil. -

Badge! Badge! Badge!
Come on guys! join in!

No thanks. There's already one can of worms being opened with charging for costumes and emotes. If they threw in a badge with it, it would open up a whole new can of worms with accusations of trying to extort money from badge hunters.
IMHO, given that they're going to charge for something, this is exactly the right way to have done it. Maybe throw in some kind of prestige power, but certainly not a badge. I didn't like the RMT for the VIP badges, and I wouldn't like it if they did it again.
As for the event itself, I'm looking forward to it. I'll be there.
[/ QUOTE ]
This is exactly why I didn't put a badge in this pack.
[/ QUOTE ]
Positron,
While I understand and applaud your decision not to extort money from the "badge hunters" you are EXTORTING money from those clothes whores of the game. The GvE add-on for what NCSoft offered in it was reasonable. It offered 2 Temp Powers and cost the same as you are offering this add-on for.
My wife and I have 5 accounts. I have been playing this game for over 42 months. Two of my accounts have the 42 month rewards, One has the 39 month rewards. My wife's accounts have the 33 month and 30 month rewards.
I am very disappointed that NCSoft has decided to devote time to SELL an add-on like this when in past Valentines events costume pieces we're EARNED in missions.
You want to sell an add-on pack? Offer something in it that enhances game play more than just visually. Temp Travel, Attack Power, Temp Defense, Rez Power, Etc.
Perhaps your staff needs to re-channel its efforts into fixing those items which are broken in game and have been for quite some time. Catherdral of Pain, Robo Surgery, Toggles Dropping when leaving missions, Fixing the Eden TF, etc.
My wife and I love this game and we have the past add-ons on each of our 5 accounts. (DVD collectors edition and GvE) but honestly unless the price is lowered on this or something is added to it, it really isn't worth it. In addition, our OSHA Academy SG members on EVERY US Server feel the very same way. Seems to me that looking at this thread NCSoft missed the mark this time.
Better luck next time. -
