Warning: this is probably a vent post...but here it goes.
Dear Paragon/NCsoft, I've been an active player since beta (CoH) and much of this is probably old news but...it seems any time I log in these days this is how my experience goes. Again, not that these are really 'new' concerns but...my word...it really kills the whole thing for me.
It is NOT fun to run around a building for 15+ minutes looking for the last roaming bad guy or person to rescue that's tucked away in some remote corner. What IS fun, is beating the tar out of him in whatever way you choose when you see him. FINDING him, should not be a...correction...THE difficult part of the mission (especially when he's not even there...but I'll leave that one alone).
I feel heroic DEFEATING bad guys....not wandering around the same buildings and caves searching for them.
IF there was a mission that involved a doppleganger/shape shifter that you had to pick out from a crowd...and NOT kill the crowd of innocent people...then FINDING him makes a little sense. IF there was a time based mission...and the person you were rescuing was going to 'bleed out' if you didn't find him in time, then THAT makes a little sense (I'd probably hate that for the same reasons...but at least it would make sense).
MY SUGGESTION:
So....to the part of the post that may serve some value. There is nothing wrong with pointing players in the general direction of the things they are searching for. I'm not looking for a pin-point accurate GPS, just some SIGN of where the last @#%% thing is. From a global standpoint...beyond the small radius hummmmm. Heck, I don't care if it was a temp power item that I had to craft. But the point is....wandering halls = not heroic, getting to your mission objective = heroic.
If that gets me to my mission quicker so I can move on to the next mission and continue to level up my character....sweet. And at the same time it would kill then incredibly game-killing frustration that I've had the last 3 or 4 times I've logged in to try to play.
Thanks,
Todd -
Very nice! Now I must listen to ANYTHING else and get that dang song out of my head.

Two possibilities that I can think of. Either the last team that you played with decided to play a prank on you when you logged off or it was a one in a million chance that the devs decided to put up a hot dog stand where you logged off.
[/ QUOTE ]
As funny as the first one would have been...I'm pretty positive I was solo last time I logged out (pretty sure). So I'm thinking #2.
[/ QUOTE ] When you log off near a door, the system automatically makes you "come out of the door" when you log in.
There is a door on that stand, and that would have caused you to be stuck inside if you "came out" on the wrong side of it. lol
You can easily repeat it by logging off near that stand again.
For those who want to try it.. That stand is near the corner of Nerva's MA. You have to log out on the correct side of the door to appear on the inside of it. If you are standing on the other side, you just appear outside.
[/ QUOTE ]
Ya know. I'll bet that's what it was. Yeah I saw the door...even got the "hand icon" when the cursor went over it but of course "Can't use this door at this time" message once I clicked on it. -

Really? No TP powers? You've got an aura, that means you're over level 30, high enough to get into Ouroboros. No O-Portal? You say you've played for over 5 years, and the Base TP power is a 2 year Vet reward, don't you have that?
[/ QUOTE ]
Ouroboros...that would have helped, it didn't hit me at the time (*rim shot*). However, I don't believe the base TP would have helped since I'm pretty sure it drops you out right back where you teleported from (but honestly, I rarely dig it out). Even so, I guess it's possible it could have at least snapped me to a...better location on the way out.
But yes, I've played for 5 years. Actually, goes back into beta time for CoH. -
Yeah, I think that must have been it. But uh, judging by the name of the establishment...I wonder what the badge name would be? :O
-
I've played CoH for over five years now and I've never seen anything like this happen before...so here's the set up.
After not playing the villain side of things for a while, I log into my main villain Sinder. To find he's...been placed in a sort of jail.
Sinder in Day Job Jail
Now the screenshot may not be all that odd for anyone with a teleport power....but Sinder doesn't HAVE a teleport power. Sooooo, I spent about 5 minutes in this penalty box until another (very kind villain) swooped in to my aid to team up with me and TP'd me out of there. (Thanks very much to "Heart of Stone'".
Anyhow. It was funny and a bit frustrating at the same time.

LATE night movies are always a great source of character inspiration. Or...instead of working from the general to the details, work in reverse. Find a power you think is really cool, or a certain costume piece....and work backwards from that fine detail to the high level backstory.
It can be fun. -

She loves the piece. That's what mattered most to me.

Very nice work man. Nice palette, nice tones.
For what it's worth, might I suggest killing the red in the "X" on her broach and maybe pumping it up a tiny bit on her lips to help center the focus on her face. That blue control panel keeps wanting to pull my eyes down there. With the cool palette you've got going, a lone bit of hot red on the lips might make a heck of a focal point.
*I mean honestly...I'm a guy...my eye's already going to be drawn to the broach area*
Very nice piece.

Seeing them like that reminds me how much the Rikti resemble Species 8472.
[/ QUOTE ]
Well I have to admit this Rikti is based off the old Rikti designs...more alien, less armor/tech. When I first created the model the new Rikti weren't out yet. -

Continuation: Full Body: Possible?

LOL, very nice. My response however will be in english
I plan on doing a full illustration with it but not going full body. -
Some of you may remember this Rikti head I did a while back. Well, through the course of 'hitting the wrong button' I though I had trashed the model.
I'm glad to say, after a lot more experimenting in ZBrush I was able to recover what I thought I had lost. This render is in Maya and clearly shows the project isn't toast.

More to come. -
Thanks.
Mostly ZBrush. The base mesh of the wings, the belt, and the gloves were done in Maya. -
Ugh, CSS can be annoying. I just took a look from another computer here at the house and the layout is a litte wonky. Not horrible, but annoying enough to bug me. Firefox is giving me about the same amount of issues as well.

Another "outside the box" hero from the mind of SteveR. This one's called WakeUp Call. He's definately not your normal spandex and caped biped.
WakeUp Call - Early Model
This one should be fun to watch. More to come.

Thanks guys. Fingers are crossed that I'll be able to stay busy...but not too busy (if that makes any sense).
-
It'd be an honor. Sounds great to me.
It's up to WP. -
Ugh....wanted to take a look but DA's down atm. In any case. Glad to see you're back! And glad you've kept busy.

I'm very happy to announce the official launch of the ToddWorld Studio site.
ToddWorld Studio
And, other than the handful of people that have given me invaluable feedback, I wanted you guys to be the first to see it. It's been a while in the works.
I'm very curious to get ya'lls feedback. (ya'll....can you tell I'm in Texas)?
Thanks,
Todd
