What a weird thing to say. You post in the PVP forums, arena channel, and RV broadcast all the time.

    You're basically a self-harmer right?

Controllers, defenders, and Corruptors also have melee attacks in their APP/EPP. I know scrappers and tanks that gear towards ranged attacks.

    These are largely exceptions.

The vast majority of dominator & blasters attacks are ranged. They're largely a ranged ATs. Breaking them up in this way, FOR THE SAKE OF NEWBS SIMPLE UNDERSTANDING, makes much more sense.

Have an actual forum for the parent forum. So random newbies can join the "melee" or "ranged" forums and ask "what AT should I play?" This would allow newbs the very simple task of deciding whether they want to play melee or ranged, before asking for advice. Having three forums (not categories) for melee, ranged, and unlockables, also gives players a place to compare archetypes. This is invaluable.

Have the description of the sub-forums describe the type of characters the AT are. (I.e. "Stalkers! Low health hand-to-hand fighters that attack from the shadows using their inherent power of assassination.") If you give newbies a flavour to work off it'll make things easier to understand. Also be sure to mention inherent powers (criticals/fury/defiance/etc) as this will incentivise people to play them. For the HEAT/VEAT just put in some lore fluff, that's the only way people are going to be drawn to them.

Limit F2P posters to the first two sections. (Ranged & Melee.) They'll see everyone talking about the awesome unlockables and will want to join in.

In each At sub-forum have three stickies:

What is an [insert name of archetype]?
What is [insert name of inherent power] and how does it work?
Player Guides on [insert name of archetype]

If you don't want to write these yourself. I'm sure someone from the community will want to in exchange for the kudos.

In exchange for this most valuable of information. I humbly request you don't merge the PVP forums.

I was able (barely) to fly from Founders' to Eden and saw literally dozens of Seedlings and Walkers, far more than needed to be there by any measure of the situation, and then the extremely poor decision was made to spawn seedlings in the zone in area of Eden itself (which in turn locked out anyone below level 40). One cannot promote a server event and then overlook such a simple factor and then compound it with spawn rates that were out of proportion to the number of people involved.

I had SG mates that specifically went to Pocket D afterwards to express their displeasure and I was led to believe that they were not alone. And frankly, nor should they be. I got no sense of coherency here; most of the time it appeared Duray was leading the seedlings into the area. If they were trying to aid the Primals, then why were the Walkers attacking them? Apparently the Walkers and seedlings were fighting each other before I logged in and this ceased, which rather defeats any sense of story being built up.

And then...they all pulled back to Atlas Park for a scrap. I was done by that point and moved to a seperate AP instance and waited for it to be over.

Honestly...I'd urge the Devs to seriously think about how they wanted to stage this, and I will single out Zwillinger here as he was the most visible and vocal about it on the Admin broadcasts. This wasn't the way to run the event. Turning off vehicles and civilians as in Rikti/Zombie raids would've helped everyone enormously, as would not just dumping a ridiculous amount of spawns.

This could've been a good point to help further the story on Virtue, but I'd just as soon forget it, thanks.

    S.
Aye the lag was annoying. This game can't really handle large events of any capacity though. So you have to take that on boards before judging it. Plus this event was largely a stress test...so don't show up to it and expect it to run smoothly. I just took what was given to me and made the most out of it. I would not have stuck with it if I didn't find it amusing.

The Praetorians motives for attacking us were clearly outlined in Admin chat. They were there to clear up the Seedlings...and were going to drop us if we got too close. Duray said it was his problem, and that he wanted to clean it up without our help. To the point of attacking us!

The spawns were frequent for me. I guess you were just unlucky.

Not really disagreeing with you. Just my take on the event.

One thing that bugged me though was Zwillinger. We had Duray basically RPing with us in admin chat progressing the story and all that. Then "NCSOFT_Zwillinger" rolls up. Says something like:

NCSOFT_Zwillinger: Okay heroes & villains! We're Goign to Pocket D! See you there! We'll be handing out Golden Titles to everyone!
    NCSOFT_Zwillinger: *going
NCSOFT_Zwillinger: I don't need to know how to spell! I'm invading your planet!
    NCSOFT_Zwillinger

Here's some advice in CR 101: Don't treat the admin channel like a yahoo chatroom. If you are sending out a message to every tab of every player in the game make it short and to the point. The people playing the game aren't your friends. Don't act overly familiar. Don't spam. Don't make jokes. The people playing CoH aren't playing with you. They're playing with each other.

    In other words: be professional.

I don't particularly view it as pigeonholing, simply as...well...simplifying. There's a rather large amount of forums to sift through here on our boards, and to a new, or even veteran player who hasn't spent time on the forums, it's a bit confusing.

Forums should be easy to understand at a glance.
You are making the AT forums more confusing. Fact.
  9. The forums are quiet cause the game population is very low. Merging the forums, and inconveniencing both new and old players alike to artificially make the forum seem busy, is a bad idea.

Also. What's an exploit? "Just use common sense" doesn't cut it when you're trying to establish RULES.

Can't wait until I have to wade through ice/cold defender threads looking for ice/cold controller information.

    Stupid idea.

Yeah Formspring does that if you answer questions that are not in your inbox.

You have to answer questions via the inbox (i.e. typing in a message in the inbox interface and clicking "post response".) If you do it any other way then your "questioner" will appear as anonymous.

I'd advise following absolutely everyone you can so that you get all the questions in your inbox.

    I hope this made sense.

    I21 Mids

I've never really thought about it. But if it wasn't for Mids I doubt i'd still be playing.

Good on ye for doing this for free!
  19. What i'd do for premiums that have bought Going Rogue:

    -allow for alpha slot.
    -Don't allow access into iTrials.
  20. HOW TO MONETIZE THIS CHANGE:

Being able to turn off travel power graphics would increase the desire for people to buy travel auras in the market.

    This won't happen.

It's because slow-witted players need to have massive flashing glowing lights to show them that other players are moving fast. (Other players moving fast isn't, apparently, a significant enough of an indicator on its own!)

I wish I was joking. The main reason the devs don't want to do this is because of PVP. They (wrongly) think that having the option of turning off power pool graphics will affect pvp. I can understand the concern here. Players would eventually want all power graphics to have a disabling option...which would be a PVP nightmare. But I think if such an option was EXCLUSIVELY given to PPs and nothing else...the impact on PVP would be minimal at best.

There's a lot of talk about the dev team wanting to "not make a hash job" of this and "wanting to do it right". Well I'm sorry, But it doesn't seem like taking their time is really an option. The dev team have even said as such - it's low priority, it's not coming "soon", it' just something they're "aware" of.

If the dev team admits that it lacks the necessary resources to offer customisable PPs then giving us the option to turn their graphics off is the only viable strategy. Yes it might not be the best option. (Debatable - other options not even viable.) But given the direction of the game (chase the shiny/ignore existing content/ignore QoL), it is the WORKABLE solution in the foreseeable future.

Refusing to do this would, once again, be placing developer ego in front of player desire & QoL.

Please note I'm just talking about power pools here. Not ancillary power pools or epic power pools. EPPs/APPs would have all sort of PVP concerns if it came to turning off graphics. (Such as PFF or FoN...although personally I think it'd be more fun to not know what other players are running "under the hood".) I still think that EPPs/APPs should have been customisable a long time ago...but I recognise that turning off their graphics has a much larger implication than turning off...say...the rings of combat jumping or the orange trail of superspeed.

And let's be honest. One of the appealing things about other superhero MMORPGs is that everyone doesn't have hands that glow orange.
  22. Is account renewal date & point allocation date the same? I thought we just got 400 free points on the 14th of every month.
