Of course the thread is no longer around so I cannot get the answer...

In the past couple months Niv locked a post here where someone was selling the costume code from one of the conventions for inf. So I am betting they will say this is a no no as far as the rules go.

I don't really understand/agree with that decision nor would I agree if they said this was also a no no.

But all that aside, when in a pact, does the logged out party get a cut of the inf or just exp?

    [/ QUOTE ]

    I think just the XP.

Which leads me to the point: I'm willing to SELL people a levelpact spot so that they can slow themselves down. If I'm going to levelpact so that you can double the inf:xp ratio and get twice as many drops per level, then I expect to get a cut on those benefits.

    Wow. You win, good sir.

    Yay! I win!

What do I get? I hope it's something as cool as BaB's no-prize!

Tbh, I sometimes regret having three monitors; when I am playing something that doesn't scale to the ridiculous resolution, or just using a computer with a single paltry screen I feel completely cramped, like someone put the blinders down.

    It's addictive.

  6. Hi Sunstorm,

(Note the personal touch at the start of the post!)

*Ahem* Anyway, dunno if there's any chance this will fly, but... Would it be possible to get a Slot Machine as a placeable decorative object? As in, a model like that of the villain unlockable contact of that name.

It's hard to convey on text how much I really really want to do that with my "main villain". I don't care if it costs 100 million prestige to place or has insane requirements to unlock (like dunning the two SM arcs on the highest difficulty with all the Ouroboros restrictions a thousand times).

    Pretty please?

    Thank you

And Frosty, yeah, I'd be very upset if they ever remove it completely. I love the costume to bits, so much so that I've basically made it part of Ali's story (I added it around the time I got to the "Evil Countess Crey" arc, so I gave it a backstory and everything ).

I have another character that is always in Freedom Corps costume, the classic white and red. I originally called her Field Trainer and used to park in King's Row (before they added the vendors there), in front of Blue Steel, to confuse the newbies. Those that were smart enough to open a trade with me got 10K influence for every enhancement they tried to trade me

It was great fun, and we (the newbies and I) got a lot of amusement out of it. One day I was spotted by a GM (who was on his way to do something else, apparently), and he sent me a tell which still makes me smile, "Today is not your lucky day" . He made me change the name (Spikey Star, suicidal /Fire blapper, was officially born that day), but I could keep the costume, which I really appreciated.

    Good times

I just wish I could edit them without losing the pattern, I'd love to make a hybrid Vanguard/Freedom Corps costume for Spikey, but alas, trying to edit them results in the pattern disappearing. Oh well.

    He meant to say:

    Aliana Blue.

    Honest!

(That costume may look familiar! It was worn by a hero named Seventh Star, and Ali is very attached to it! - Yes, it is the Freedom Corps pattern )

Anyway, if it counts, (very condensed) short bio:

Aliana and her brother Joshua laways dreamed of being heroes. Her dream came true years later in a rather reluctant way. Her broter had been killed in a research experiment in Crey Industries aimed at creating super-powered beings from regular humans, and Aliana seeked revenge. Years later she found out that her boyfriend worked for Crey Industries, and in anger she sabotaged and destroyed his lab; he died trying to save his research, which was chasing after a cure for a bio-terrorism weapon - a far cry from an evil project. She spent three years in prison, thanks to the fact that the government wanted to keep the research quiet for security reasons, and had to serve duty as a registered hero in Paragon City for a year. She is still after the countess though, because she _did_ kill her brother.

And if it's too late, it doesn't matter. It's still a Great Thread™, and a very generous offer!

    Name: Walkiry
    Global Contact: @Aliana Blue
Reporting on Assignment: Star Strider Forces Defensive Unit: Guardian.
Level of Alien Threat [High][Medium][low]: [High]

    Report Details:

As per assignment, patrolling and protecting basic services has been my main duty, and the compatibility with this and my binding to Millie as her guardian has been very satisfactory. I would like to thank my superiors for their understanding of this duty and their efforts to help me make both compatible. Atlas Park has been my main grounds for defense, protecting the City Hall, Wenworth's Market, local access to the Vanguard base, and the Vault, among other basic services of the city, and of course protecting Millie, as she has her residence in Atlas Park too.

I have received several assignments which I have had to complete with little to no assistance, but I understand that not all heroes can be available at all times, and that one cannot win a war without carefully managing resources and fatigue of their combat units. I have so far managed to fulfill my assigned patrolling duties during the hours of lower hero availability.

The Rikti seem to have adapted to our rotation scheme, and their own rotation of combat units seems to match our own. Offensives during my patrol times seem to be of lower magnitude than those during peak hero activity, suggesting the true target of these waves of invasions is the meta-humans, which fits their change of strategy during the end of the first Rikti Invasion.

Millie says they're just scared of my broadsword, but she only says that after seeing me use it to angrily (and viciously, I must admit) beat the snot out of a Rikti invader who had the audacity of teleporting close to her, scaring her enough to make her cry. I'm not sure what the effect of witnessing the kind of angry violence I displayed will have on such a young girl, but she seemed happy when I finished with the Rikti, so I suppose it's good. The presence of Rikti in Atlas Park putting her in danger is what makes the Rikti threat immediately High on my scale.

Millie also claimed my new Talsorian Sword is "pretty," so my superiors will be happy to hear I will sign up for extended duty as per Millie's request to get more "pretty Vanguard clothes."

    Analysis of Current Situation:

Attrition may be an important factor to consider for this offensive. The fact that they have not tried to bring in overwhelming forces during low meta-human activity times suggest that they may have reservations to commit a large force without a guaranteed results. Heroes of Paragon City are notorious for making impressive last stands that cost the enemy dearly for little gain. We have in Atlas a fine example that we all try to follow.

Non meta-human support has been spotty at best. The police department, with the exception of Blue Steel and the units he assigns to counteract the actions of Villains from the Rogue Isles, have been most unhelpful. While I don't expect them to share the first line of defense, there is a notorious amount of panic they could help with, by directing civilians during evacuations and verifying that they are completed satisfactory and shelters are properly balanced in the number of people they hold.

I have also been unsuccessful trying to make Millie join the civilians during evacuations instead of staying behind to cheer at me. I tried to give her a stern talk-to about the dangers of alien invaders and how it makes my duty to protect her even more difficult if she's not somewhere safe while I fight the Rikti, but she looked at me with her puppy eyes and seemed about to cry, which totally dismantles me.

    Suggestion of Action:

Blue Steel needs to get it through to the police department that they must help us with the civilians when a new attack is detected. It is of vital importance that we can prepare to fight with the peace of mind that they've been cared for.

Additionally, the unreliability the Rikti bombs make it so that we can reduce the damage they cause by dismantling the duds before they have a chance to explode. A better spotter support for this, and the Rikti ships, would be of great help. Heroes have made do by having impromptu assignemnts on the field for spotters, but this is inefficient.

Also, please send someone who can talk with Millie, she just asked me again when we are going to go "hunt Rikti." I literally can't do something that upsets her. Now if you'll excuse me, I have Rikti to hunt.

For example, if you give 1 merit for each Mary and then another single Merit at the end of the TF, you have 11 instead of 7.

    [/ QUOTE ]
horrible idea... nobody would ever complete it... ever...

    [/ QUOTE ]

    They would if you:

    a) Make the first mission failable again (after all, if you fail you lose the merits!).
    b) Make the merit payment upon delivery, i.e., when the TF is completed, and not before then. Depending on how many times you defeated Mary, you get more or less merits at the end.
  16. [ QUOTE ]
I understand that the 3 hour timer is not there anymore. But you have a 24 hour diminishing return penalty on any single TF. Meaning that if you run the same TF back to back, or even the same one every night at the same time, you will be subject to diminishing returns. I do not know what the exact diminishing return is. I don't think anyone has tested that significantly.

    [/ QUOTE ]

    Interestingly...

I just ran A Hero's Hero twice in a row on Test, timing myself because it seems like the reward is a tad low (19 merits =~ 95 minutes, and I really have to push it, on heroic, to finish with my scrapper at around that time; 1h39m was my second time, and I had to respec into SuperSpeed, so it really seems a tad fast for a datamined average time, but I disgress).

Second time I got the same 19 merits I did on the first one.

Seems like the diminishing returns don't apply to Ouroarcs (EDIT: Or at least it takes more than 2 runs to trigger it... I also took my 38 merits, rolled a random recipe because it's test, and got a Sandman's Chance to Heal, I'm so disappointed I didn't get a Crap of the Hunter. The odd thing is that it was level 50, but I hit the "roll random 35-39", hmmm).

I'll leave you to ponder the immediate meaning of that
  17. Heh, Guardian's my main server... Well, sort of, I have way too many alts!

(Been playing on Justice a lot lately, new scrapper and it's the unnofficial Aussie/NZ server, kinda handy that).

Thanks for the spotlight, Mr. Grey, and the review too!

What would REALLY be entertaining is having the Rikti start attacking PvP zones. Or the hazard zones they have thus far avoided. (And I wanna see them invade IP - just to see Lusca taking a swipe at a low-flying dropship.)

  21. Hello Bruce!

"It's a dream job." Congratulations on finding it!

    Now, a couple of questions:

    1) What kind of system are you guys using in-house for version control of the missions? Do you use a repository like Subversion/CVS, a Wiki, or something else?

    2) Will we have access to it in the Mission Architect?

    3) (Okay, so I lied! I'm playing red side today, muahaha!) Supposing we don't, will the unpublished mission data be stored locally in a human-readable format (i.e., plain text files instead of cryptic hex dumps or something)?

    Thank you for your time!

  24. Thanks for the kind comments

21 was supposed to be a dream flashback, to the point where Sanders showed Ali just how bad she had screwed up when she destroyed Matthew's lab (and btw, just spotted a very very annoying typo there, I think OpenOffice autocorrected Sanders' -> Sander's >_< ). Hm, I may need to clarify that one a bit, probably something at the end of the chapter along the lines of "That same dream again, bad memories always find a way to stay around" maybe.

And heh, the Doctor is one of my favourite characters, I really liked the story when I first "liberated" her. Maybe that's what made me leave the clue for Ali that way... My subconcious betrays me!
