If you must go for a color (for a change of pace), pick colors that are closer to the default text for the forums:

On darker forums (like this one) choose colors closer to white and you won't have to worry much about readability.

For example:
Light Yellow (#FFFCC)
Light Pink (#FFCCC)
Light Blue(#CCFFFF)

On a lighter forum, pick darker colors, closer to black text.

Stay away from brights/neon. Those only tend to strain the eye and aren't meant for long strings of text.

Choose from a palette of web safe colors and use some classic dummy text (Lorem Ipsum) to test out your options.

You can use colors in your text as long as you keep the reader in mind.

Just remember that what you write is important, not the color.

Make the globe old world, or wrap the map around a sphere...so its easier for you to match it with the Rogue Isle map (save your self some anguish). People might not recognize it as the Rogue Isle on first glance, with a standard globe (blue water) look. I thought it was just an odd angle on usual world globe.

Worry about the aranchos background later..put your shark elements in.

I noticed scrolling through the cards that I didn't see anything with the White Tree in it. (I probably missed it), I also didn't see the moonlight secret door to Moria or the tomb with the shaft of light, or the great hall. Lots of sketches of faces (naturally). So that might be an idea.
