Quote:My point of view in regards to Freedom being a Right is that numerous times, all throughout history and in three pivotal moments in our own nation's, we have fought to prove that it is. That all men and women are born free and that anybody who seeks to take liberty away from a person had best be prepared to reap the Hell they've sown.
Freedom isn't something you earn, it's something you're born with. You're born with the capability to make choices and decisions in life, to live it as you see fit. This nation, and many across the world that are regarded as "civilized," hold this to be one of their greatest virtues, that nobody can force you to do what they want you to do. If somebody takes that away from you, so long as what you were doing didn't hurt anybody else, that person is punished because they had no right to take your freedom away.
I wish I was as naive as you and believed that freedom isn't something you can earn, that you're born with. But we've obviously lived two different lives, and I've seen it to be otherwise. Americans, yes, we're born with that. Not everyone on this earth has the luxury of freedom, or even living their life as they see fit. Neither did the U.S.A. at one point. So tired of repeating myself to you.
Be a child and respond to get your 'last word', but know that it will go unread and unanswered by me.
SO, because I have a life and no longer wish to have a headache named, Grey.....PEACE OUT!

So there it lies, the whole mistake.
It eats away on us, it feeds on my mistakes.
Your satisfied smile, tells me it's not all right.

Thank you very much, BB. I completely agree. I wish the U.S. put half as much effort into Veteran's Day as Canada does into Rememberance Day.

Quote:I'm well aware of how days off work, and in MY opinion our freedom isn't a right....it was gained through our men and women serving this country, and is something we have to remain vigilant to protect and, in my opinion, should be honored more than it is. Freedom is a fragile thing that can be taken away. We've already talked about this, Grey, and we look at it differently. You see freedom as a right, and I respect your view, but I disagree and don't see freedom as a right.Days off are a privilege, Arion, not a right. At any moment, for reasons both imperative and trivial, that liberty can be taken away at a second's notice in a soldier's life.
In regards to my post. We've already talked about this and decided that you thought I was disrespecting the military by implying they get too many days off. I, personally, don't see how what I said could have been misconstrued into that, especially since I had already confessed into going back into the military; however, to clarify, what I said was not meant in ANY way to disrespect the military. The military does get a decent amount of days off, but they earn them and, in my opinion, deserve more off.
Furthermore, my post was not focusing on the days off that soldiers get. I had posed the question: "why in the hell should we get off work for the actions of ONE man and not all our past and present soldiers who have/are fighting for our freedom?" Then Kyo responded with: "Because the soldiers who have and are fighting for our freedoms don't get to take days off" I was simply pointing out the fallacy in what she said. I was not in ANY way downplaying or disrespecting our military. I respect every branch.
Arion out! -
Actually yes....they DO get days off. And most will get Veteran's Day off...even some that are in Iraq and Afghanistan
-
Likewise, thank you to all our past, present and future soldiers.
I hadn't made this public, had just told a few friends on here. But I'm reenlisting back into Active duty Army. I'll be leaving for Ft. Bliss no later than January. I'll be going back into Infantry so the chances of ending up BACK in Afghanistan are very high.
Obviously around that time I'll be taking a break from here. I don't have to do basic all over again, but I have to do this simple 4 week refresher course in El Paso (Ft. Bliss), then back to Ft. Benning, GA for an Airborne refresher. From there I'm not sure which unit I'll be put into. The Army kinda treats prior-army like red-headed step-children, so I most likely won't get a choice as to which duty station I'd prefer.
Any who, there's still a good amount of time before I'll leave. So I'll have time to prepare and talk to people before I go. This was mainly just a heads-up.
On a side-note, I completely despise and am sickened that most people don't get off for Veteran's Day. For example, MLK Day is nationally celebrated and we get off. I'm not downplaying the man or his accomplishments, but why in the hell should we get off work for the actions of ONE man and not all our past and present soldiers who have/are fighting for our freedom? <end rant> -

I'd say the Battle Maiden mish given by Maria as well. You'll be able to handle them fine AND they offer more xp per kill than Freaks.

I had a change of plans....actually I'd just forgotten about something I'd already extended myself to. I have some babysitting to do. I'll be on as soon as that's over, but not sure what time it'll be. If I don't make it - sorry, M1

I'll help ya too, M1. Just let me know when and where!

I don't see how even telling them HOW to do a farm is important this early on in their CoH "career", if you will. I think the most important thing would be teaching them what is to be gained from them [farms]. (i.e. drops, infl, prestige and such), and yes, that is rather easy to explain. Any by telling them the benefits to be gained from farming, I mean placing emphasis on farming AFTER certain other understandings have been accomplished. Even going into detail as much as which missions are ideal and which AT's/Builds can do what, but I think even that isn't important at this stage.
So, the two things you suggest are completely separate. Telling someone how to run a mish and/or TF or how an AT works oppose to farming. I don't know many people that think they'd be "skimping" on teaching someone if they didn't show them how to farm, but rather taught them the basics of the game and which AT's help to do this or that....making them a better team player and helping them understand the uses of certain powers would enrich their play more and send them in the right direction.....imo
Furthermore, it doesn't sound like too many rules are going to be placed on this. I think it's just the general synopsis that teaching someone the other things I, and others, have suggested would be more beneficial than teaching farming.
All this, of course, is just MY opinion. I'm not saying anyone else is wrong...just providing my thoughts -
Completely agree with you Willli1, Panzer, Kyo, and Rasta. Farms are a part of the game, and they have their uses/benefits, as Kyo pointed out. As for learning the game though, i second Rasta. TELLING them would be sufficient enough.
