Really? What level are you when you are playing at -1/x8?
If this is solo, and you playing at x8. Inspirations should be dropping quite frequently.
If you have teammates, it shouldn't be a problem at all.
Either way, once again, it is certainly not insta-death. -
Quote:Alright, maybe having some of the attacks not root would be something to look into. But, even with them rooting, it still allows for plenty of movement after the animation. The powers don't take that long to animate. As far as getting mezzed means you are 'done' I have not had that experience. Sure it happens sometimes, but nothing to worry about. Are you talking soloing here or teaming? Either way, getting mezzed does not = insta-death.Every time you fire an offensive Power, you get rooted for the span of the animation. Being 'stationary' while activating powers isn't a choice, it's required.
Scenario: I 'hop' out and 'pop' off my main attack at a Boss target who is accompanied by a Minion. After 2 attacks at the Boss he returns fire, along with his sidekick. If those attacks Mez then I'm done. Not every set can easily stack Boss-level Magnitude Holds.
Now if they took the Root component off of powers that's a whole different issue... -
Quote:You mentioned synergy, that your beam/devices is very safe and deadly. And, you have others that play a bit differently. The question is, are those others still fun for you to play? Or are the shortcomings too much to make them fun?I would reply with a long post but judging from your response you seem to know what you're talking about! BUT I think that you have a primary/secondary that is very synergetic...For instance my Beam/Devices Blaster is very safe and very deadly compared to my Elec/Dark Blaster who lives in melee. Also my Elec/Dark Blaster cannot handle huge mobs solo like my doms, defenders and corrs can.
I just think that it's weird that a Blaster can't perform on the same level as the other ATs solo.
I can tell you this without a doubt, I don't want every AT or even powerset to be vanilla across the board. Some things should 'work' better, some should be more survivable.
Like I said, I probably agree with you on some of the tweaks that could be made. But, a complete overhaul on what a blaster currently has both primary and secondary. I could never be in favor of that. Just because, there are already options, other ATs, that can give you more of what you may be looking for. -
Quote:About what other choices there are. I can just say not one of my blasters has all of the pool powers you suggested. As matter of fact, of what you listed, my blasters probably have two of them.So what other choices are there?
Alkehine, how should one enjoy their blasters?
Maybe we should play on the lowest setting possible and just do DIB's and DFB until we get to 50? Then we can IO out, take like 5 power pools and slot up for mad defense? That's going to be tough for a lot of people to do...especially if they are use to playing Controller, Defenders and Scrappers those AT's can handle big mobs very nicely
I can't tell anyone 'how' to enjoy their blasters. That is a matter of personal preference, and style of play. What I can say is this, I do not experience this 'too much dying' phenomenon. My blaster does not feel 'weak' or unable to survive. That feeling is not from laying back, and letting others do all the 'work'. This is from years of playing, solo, teams, trials, task forces, and iTrials.
I'll admit, there could be some tweaks made to the AT. But, some of what I read on this forum are ideas for a complete AT overhaul. A complete revamp of the AT, is just unnecessary.
Reading your last statement, I hope that is full of sarcasm. I have never had a problem in getting a blaster to 50. There were and still are plenty of ways to survive long before the incarnate system. Hmm, and slot up for mad defense? I guess that is popular. But, I can tell you my favorite blaster has negligible defensive numbers. Hop and pop, move and groove! Positioning goes a long way. If you want to be stationary and slug it out, perhaps blaster is the wrong AT choice. -
Quote:I don't see why would need to build around those choices, to play your blaster efficiently, or 'properly enjoy the AT.So let me get this straight. I need to build my blaster around the Medicine Pool, Leaping Pool, Fighting pool and Clarion Only as my Destiny pick...so let's see that's 8 power picks I lost just to be able to play my Blaster efficiently.
Loosing 8 Levels, only able to Clarion for my Destiny choice, waiting to level 53 before I'm on par with every other AT Damage output wise...sure seems like a lot to sacrifice to properly enjoy the AT. -
As a bit of a side story to the exalted name grabbing.
A certain player named a toon after my global name on exalted. I would assume so I can't make it there?
Using the getglobalname command I recognized this players global, so I know it was intentional.
The hilarious part of this is, I don't even have a toon named for my global name!
Someone is trying way too hard! :P -

Quote:This is not the art forum. So, the quality of a screenshot is really no concern of others. As long as the person using it is satisfied.Aren't you just adorable?
And here's the deal. The banner Matt's using has pictures of people who did not give permission to be in his advertising, including some friends of mine and some people I have a lot of respect for. It is also a disgraceful logo, being much afflicted with JPG artifacts and bad graphics settings, but we already discussed that. I think it's would be a better idea for Matt to use a screenshot from one of the events he's been running, as it will be a) relevant to the thread and b) there won't be any permission issues!
Also, I'm not so sure a player has 'permission' rights to a screenshot. It would seem that just like most other things in this game, it would become a Paragon Studios issue. But, perhaps I'm wrong about that.
And yes, I am very adorable. Hazel and Horus have said so too. -
Quote:Were you involved in either of those player organizations? But the screenshot's clearly on the front steps of City Hall...? Are we talking about the same thing here?
Did you take the screenshot?
I fail to see who, where, when, of any business of this screenshot concerns you.
And you just continue it. -
Quote:So wrong, so very very wrong. The swarms of +3 swords and battle maiden warriors would beg to differ about any squishy being boss on the apex. Any armored at that can get the hang of jumping when the ground turns blue has no trouble with the blue rain of death, the same can't be said of unarmored characters being pureed by escapees from a Ray Haryhausen movie.

Quote:I'd say the powersets chosen, would be more of a factor than the above blanket statement. As there are certain defender combos that would solo better than certain corruptor combos.I always put it simply.
Defender: Better on teams.
Corruptor: Better at solo.
Both can team, both can solo. They just do one thing better than the other.
Even in cases with some reversed powersets, I'm not sure there would be anything more than a marginal difference. Some people swear by corruptors, others like defenders. To me, they are both my favorite AT's that bring what they bring to the table. I've solo'd and teamed with both my corruptors and defenders, both AT's are outstanding at what they do.
Defenders can solo missions,TFs, AVs, GMs, just fine.
Heck, even an empathy can solo the vile, impossible Trapdoor! -
