Ok, just overnight it looks like a pretty good start. There seems to be a few Android CoX players out there like me. Thank you all for the feedback we'll see how much interest we get through the rest of the week.
@Darth_Khasei - It's no company...just me, well my kids usually help out on the games...but this being an app and all they'll be more helpful for brainstorming and beta testing. Let's just say CoX has been very good to me and my family and this could be my way of giving back a little to it.
Beta testing in mind...I will need more testers than just us...so also in your reply please state whether you'd be interested for beta testing. For the record beta testing takes some effort, it's just just reviewing the app for 5 minutes and we'll start off with small groups and scale up.
But that comes a bit later.
Thanks again for all the responses.

Hey all. I was thinking about putting together a CoH app for Android. Maybe include current news feed, server status, fan site links, featured fan art, etc.
It would be a free app, I'm just trying to get a feel if anyone would be interested. If you are do me a favor and just reply to this thread. It would be available originally for Android devices (phones and tablets). Eventually in the future, it may also be available for iPhones, iPads, Kindle Fire and Nook....but those would come later.
I'm specifically interested in Android interest for now.
Thanks all.

Let me also quote FlashToo...

Oh well...but hey it's a comic book universe so I'm sure I can think of SOME way to make this an alt dimension Clockwork King.
Thanks for catching it though.

Very cool. Nice style and colors.

Hi folks. I admit it's been a while since I've gotten to hang out and contribute here (not that I haven't been watching from time-to-time), but I'm a sucker for contests. I'm also a sucker for movie posters. Combine the two and...well...I can't pass that up. (of course it may also have something to do with the kids recent requests to get in a play CoH again).
In ANY case, it'll be fun to get to chat with y'all again. *waves to TA, War Patriot, and Kat*
I had a few ideas in mind for the movie poster contest and I was moving forward with a couple of them at least...that was until they changed the line "enter as often as you like" to "one entry per person". With that in mind a couple of ideas hit the chopping block. This was a sketch for one of those ideas.
It was an origin story to the Clockwork King...prior to his brain in a jar days.
Click on the image to bounce to my DA site and catch a little more info on the image. I think it woulda made a cool poster, but had to narrow it down to one and the other is a little further along.
Comments welcome as always.

Hmmmmm...looks like it's time to narrow down my entries since I was going off the earlier stated rules of "enter as many times as you wish".

Quote:Actually that's awesome. That's nearly dead on for traditional one-sheets, and with that I believe all my other questions were answered.Unfortunately a change had to be made to the contest - the dimension requirements for submissions has been changed to 512 x 760 pixels
We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause.
Thanks for the clarification.
Todd -
Well, it's a tough thing to have to follow TA that's for sure. I've got a variety of things, but for now I'll just focus on the popular LEGO series for folks.
To clarify, most of these are pieces I've done for other people and I don't claim any rights to character design etc. But here we go.
First up, a familiar face:
Next, a favorite villain of my own creation, "Sinder"
This was another player's character "Storm Vyxen"
Also not my character, but sticking to the storm theme..."Hericane"
...and then there's me...8 Baller
Hope you like. -
First off, love this contest, I'm a big fan of movie posters but I've got a couple of questions.
Could we get an official clarification on the dimensions, and the project?
The contest title says "Movie Poster" but in the rules it specifies "may be used in-game as a billboard" and the ratio is clearly not your normal one sheet movie poster.
Asking for official word on the landscape layout 1024 x 768, verses going more traditional portrait movie poster. And what the final product is because design elements traditionally change from a movie billboard to a movie poster (most notably credits or no credits).
Thanks,
Todd -
LJ...Thornster...Larissa...Khel...Juggy! Now it's starting to feel like old times.
Forgive my delay in response I've been wrapped up and running around Paragon with the kiddos. They seem to have taken to it well after our little break. And we splurged tonight and preordered GR x2.
It's good to be back all.
Juggy, as for the art side of things. I've been working on a game project (still ongoing) but I've tried to keep my digital painting skills sharp on art for the game...(but I may be a little rusty). I've been keeping an eye on your stuff and it looks like you haven't let up a bit. Well done!
Now the tough decision....to make an Arachnos Agent...or a Demon Summoner...or Duel Wielder...too...many....choices *head explodes*.

My base USED to have them, then I removed them because I needed the energy. Anyhow...now I can't find ANY WAY to add a single teleporter or even a 4 man teleporter to the base. They're never listed in the item list in the base builder. All I ever have available is the Raid Teleporter...which is completely useless to us because we don't raid.
The "teleporter guide" in this forum is a busted link, so no help there.
Can any one help what should be an incredibly simple question.
Thanks,
Todd -
Hello again all. Well I gave Star Trek Online a pretty fair shot and found it a little lacking at the moment (maybe that's something that will be corrected over time). And after seeing all this press about Going Rogue, I thought I'd polish up my subscription and see how things were going.
I'm sad to say with my current video card I don't have much of a review of "Ultra Mode" because it simply can't handle it. (my good card blew up recently, so the one I'm running now is over the hill "relatively speaking".
Anyhow, it's nice to still see a few folks still around, ping me if you see me in game.
Thanks,
Todd

Thanks all. I'll be poking my head in here still keeping an eye on the art being generated...I'll just be quiet about it. And I'll still be watching you DA folks, rest assured.
I'll be spending the next few years at the helm of a starship.
Keep saving the world. God knows it needs it
Todd -
Over five and a half years ago I signed into the beta of City of Heroes and dawned my first pair of virtual tights. Since then, I've suffered from a serious case of alt-itis and created well over 50 heroes and villains in Paragon City and the Rogue Isles. I've defeated arch villains, visited alternate dimensions, and even saved the world more than a few times. Not bad for a virtual world.
On the real-world side of things I can happily say I've faired pretty well in the City of Heroes contests with "Best City of Heroes Fan Site", "Best Overall Comic" in the comic contest, and winner of the "Matrix Machinima Contest" all of that has granted me a couple of handfuls of video games, a number of sound cards, video cards, an iPod, a PS3, an Xbox 360, a DS, and a new car. I can safely say Paragon City has been good to me.
And still, that's not what I'm most thankful for in all my time in the game. It was around two and a half years ago that I stumbled across this section of the forum. I guess curiosity led me here as much as anything. I saw some of the great art here and decided to create a piece for my brother. It was the first drawing I'd done that was non-work, non-school related in probably ten years. It had been a very long time.
I met TA, Juggie, Kat, Wassy, DarkJedi, War Patriot and many, many others that were encouraging, full of advice, and a great influence for not only myself, but any other face that stumbled in as well.
Since then I've had the great honor of creating over a dozen other hero illustrations for both myself and others, and it has been a blast. I had forgotten how much fun creating art could be. And THAT is the single largest thing I'm grateful for...beyond words.
In a few days my CoX subscription will expire and I'll be moving on, but I wanted to say a special "Thank you." to the CoX art community for the good times, and to Paragon Studios for creating City of Heroes and carrying it on for the past 5+ years. It's been a heck of a ride.
I wish you all the very best. To the artists out there, experienced and aspiring, never stop creating. Never stop drawing.
Sincerely,
Todd (8 Baller) -
You'd think it would be a good idea then to go ahead and clean up the board then instead of leaving all the broken links. Maybe even an event like a board 'upgrade' may be a good time for that.
Just sayin'.

Quote:Nothing to post just yet. I'm working on a mini-fig for Alouette, and still hammering my head against an XNA game I've been working on with the kids.
Any new artz btw?
Oh and hey, you aren't on the Network yet are you? wanna be?
And for the Network...I have ALMOST sent you an email to sign me up several times but then other projects pop up that would not let me focus the needed time to serve people in their best interests (in a timely manner). So I've pulled back. I'm pretty embarrassed at how long the last couple of pieces I've worked on have taken...due to other distractions. Luckly, for me, they've been for VERY understanding folks like War Patriot and Steve.
Quote:Does not compute? -
Well ok, I guess I didn't poke my head around hard enough. Nice to see some familiar names, and yes, always nice to see new people (whether they're new to the game or just stumble across the art boards).
Yeah I was in beta for the other hero game and really started having some fun by the end of beta...but then what they did at launch was...just...well idiotic is one word. I agree, they need to stick that one back in the oven again for a few more months...or more.
Anyhow, a big "Hi" to all the new faces and old. And for those that aren't around...may they find their way back soon
Todd -
Well work and other projects have kept me away from the boards for a while and I figured, "Hey, why not drop in and see what's going on?"
A lot of new faces/names and sadly a lot of name I thought I'd see are missing. Was there a "changing of the guard" in the last few months or is the old crew just off playing...some other super hero MMO that we'll not name?
Good to see new people but I've tried a lot of the threads and most I tried ended up going to dead links...with a CoX message of all things.
Todd -
Vexxxa, that is one sweet logo.
Thanks Larissa. I'm absolutely thrilled you caught that, it was one detail that I was afraid had been lost without moving the camera angle to a higher angle so you could see the coffee. Now it's much more subtle but I'm glad you got it. -
Thanks guys.
The character is a Steve Rogers creation. He's the same guy that concepted "Chocolate Bunny Guy" so he definately lives outside the box. It's another of his CoX characters. -
Well, he's finally finished. What started off as a normal mini-fig character developed into something a little bit more. Everything started off just great, but then shortly after beginning the idea hit me for the composition that would make it something a little more indepth.
WakeUp Call 3D
Comments welcome.
Thanks,

Agreed...anything is better than the luck I've been drawing recently.
And I hate using the darn "mark this mission as complete" thing. Somehow it feels like cheating. But yeah, I've had to do that 2 of the last 4 times I've logged on and run missions.
