    Moving Day!

Please tell me you kicked Lighthouse in the bum and ran away giggling, right after taking that pic.
  2. Is data already being tracked for the vault?

If so, for how long has it been tracking?
  3. All the ones we used had the court and bleachers. Pretty sure they where all made using the great hall room. However without bleachers you might be able to make one using a smaller room.

And what does Garriot have to do with COH? Nothing, so... shrug on that one.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Oddly enough back in alpha Garriot was the NCSoft manager overseeing the City of Heroes development by Cryptic. Then he went off to develop TR.

    [/ QUOTE ]

    OH! NOW I remember him!

He was always a cool guy, as I recall. ... I wondered what happened to him

    [/ QUOTE ]

o.o You're .... joking, right? Garriot? Please tell me you're joking... I mean about the not knowing - I didn't realize he was actually still producing games, but I bought pretty much half the Ultima line and all that jazz. That's why it surprised me to learn this. Meh, learn something new every day or something. I think I've learned plenty today. My brain is full.

    [/ QUOTE ]

I must admit to not having a clue to whoo he was until a couple weeks age and even then I only knew about his TR work. CoH was my first MMO so anything before that is lost to history.

[*]NCSoft will be relocating the current "City" QA (Quality Assurance) team from the Austin studio to the new NorCal Studio. That's right, their QA gang will be able to stand up from their computer, walk down the hall, and say, "Hey, BackAlleyBrawler" found a bug with an animation you should see." How freakin' efficient is that?

    [/ QUOTE ]

Whoa, whoa. Do you have a source for that? I thought I'd been through all the Dev/Community posts, and I don't remember seeing that.

    It's in here

For those interested in gainful gaming employment, check out the NCsoft North America Jobs Listing. Positions for "Mountain View" would be in our newly formed NCsoft NorCal Studio.

*BOGGLE* ...why would they need a 2D/Concept, and "Powers Designer"? Those 2 alone implies ambitions for a lot more New-New content than we've gotten in years. The list taken as a whole is staggering and I have a hard time believing all those resources would be going to Co(X).

  7. NCsoft already had the publishing rights to CoH. So it could do anything it wanted with the IP. The only change is that they now control the sevelopment as well. That is something to be worried about but if they stay true to thier word and keep the same development team then we should see no major changes.

All PS3 have HDDs and can use a keyboard and mouse out the box.

    [/ QUOTE ]

I thought those were BluRays... which are better media IMO anyways.

    [/ QUOTE ]

The HDD is the harddrive inside of the PS3. Blu-Rays are the disk you put in the PS3.

If CoH comes to PS3 the game would be on Blu-Ray to buy in stores but any updates would have to be sent to the HDD.
  9. Doesn't microsoft require all games made for the 360 not require the a HDD? CoH can't fit on a DVD. The only way it could play on 360 would be with a HDD and as stated Microsoft won't allow a game that requires a HDD.

All PS3 have HDDs and can use a keyboard and mouse out the box.

  10. FAQ about the City of Heroes and City of Villains sale

What you need to know about the sale of City of Heroes and City of Villains and the future of Cryptic Studios.

How did Cryptic Studios arrive at the decision to sell City of Heroes and City of Villains to NCsoft?

When we considered the future of CoH/CoV and the future of Cryptic Studios, we had a difficult decision to make. We've invested a lot of time, effort, talent and passion into the games, and we care about them. But we've got a lot of other ideas we're excited about too.

Ultimately, we decided that selling to NCsoft was the best and right thing to do for the CoH community. CoH/CoV will be in good hands at NCsoft, and the transition will be as seamless as possible. With this move, we now have complete creative freedom and the resources we need to develop new games.

How will Cryptic be involved with CoH in the future?

Cryptic will work closely with the team at NCsoft to create a smooth transition and gameplay will not be affected. At the end of the transition all ongoing activities will be managed by NCsoft.

What will happen to my City of Heroes account?

You should see no change at all to your CoH account. Future service will be completely under NCsoft's umbrella and customers should contact them for product support and service by phone.

You can contact NCsoft at the NCsoft support center, or by phone at (512) 225-6359 (billing and technical support issues only).

Who will be responsible for future development on City of Heroes and City of Villains?

CoH/CoV has a great live team that has set a high standard for development and updates, and NCsoft would like all of them to continue working on the project. Every member of the team has been offered employment at NCsoft. The future is in the same hands that led the game to where it is today.

Cryptic would not have entered into this agreement without ensuring the well-being of the CoH/CoV team. It will be hard to lose part of the Cryptic family, but with NCsoft's support the team will continue to add loads of new content and features to CoH/CoV.

    What's next for Cryptic Studios

Cryptic is developing new titles and new IPs, as well as expanding its business interests. We have a talented team of game developers and technicians, and a large part of our motivatation for this move was to free up resources for our future projects. With these new projects we will challenge ourselves to make even better and more immersive MMO games. Stay tuned!

This pretty much seems to clear the way for CoH on XBox 360.

    [/ QUOTE ]
Fixed that for you. The Live Marketplace on the 360 offers the opportunity for people to (in theory) pay for their MMO subscriptions with Microsoft Points ... which means, they could buy prepaid cards at any video game or computer outlet ... no credit card required. Make it a 1200-point fee, that's $16 - enough that even after MicroSoft's inevitable cut, there's still probably a nearly-full, standard MMO fee left for NCSoft.

Yes. Either this thread or the one in the announcements section. Everyone on the Co* dev team except Jack (and he hasn't really been that involved for awhile anyway) is going with the new company.

  15. Banished Pantheon Shaman doesn't have on any underwear under that loincloth.........
  16. Not sure if it is the way it should be or not, but I can't run shadow fall while having a costume and vis-versa. If I have one on and then turn on the other, the first one is turned off.
  17. Not sure if it was posted yet but a recap is on playNC's site.
  18. I would just like to see regular additions to the amount of decorative items for bases. Much like we get two or three new costume options, I would like to see a few base items added with each new issue.
  19. Pfft. Noone came to see us in Chicago(Wizard World). Why should I go to Seattle? Im hurt and saddened. I think Im going to cry and stuff.

Nah but really. No money for that kinda trip sorry. I blew a few hundred at Wizard World. Need time to recover.
  20. Now that I know the background also being able to have heoes/villains team up really does make I10 feel like a really important story update.

As a Christian it's really cool to see the stories in the bible interpreted in this way. I never felt that the bible was a word for word account of history but more like insperational stories to teach you lessons. Your retelling of the story really works for me. Well done.
