  1. In another dimension, StoneGiant died, and was taken to Valhallah and fell for one of the Valkyries, and nine months (or so) later, a little girl was born.

And now, she's not little any more.
  2. Yes, it's amazing what a little makeover can do to increasing recruitment levels.

"Join Arachnos, we give free* manicures."

    *"with weedwacker."
  3. Or "Lady Recluse"

A picture I had a lot of fun doing even though I couldn't enroll it in the contest it was meant to. The goal was to take official COX Universe NPCs and gender bender them.

    Ooooh, my turn!

    DT
    The other day indeed
With my shoe on the wall
    I killed a centipede
that was not there at all.
    How can that be?
Very simple - you see -
    Just the beginning of DT

    When the pink alligator
And the tiger without a head
    begin to take stature
    And demand to be fed
    As I have no shoes
    Fit to kill those
    I think I'll start thinking
    Should I stop drinking?

    Darling, I don't know
If the sugar of your heart
    Would not turn out candy...
So I let my heart smart
And I think I'll drink brandy.

    Then the centipede come
    Without trouble
    I can see them well
    Or even double
I'll see them home with my shoe
And, when they all go to hell
    I'll go too.

    Then, on a whole
    I shall be happy indeed,
    Because, with a shoe
    Real and true
I shall kill the true centipede
    My lost soul.
  5. Here we go, corrected version with a few minor adjustments.

    Red's Pin-up ... now with proper spelling!
  6. Eeeep! Serious case of mispelling. I'll have to fix that. I wasn't sure which version of the Commissar word you were using. Oh well, I'll try to put up the correct version (for some reason I gave it the portuguese spelling. Doh)
  7. Despite what the tittle suggests, no, we won't be seeing a drawing of Red in stockings and sensual pose (thankfully).

No, this drawing started with my sudden wish to draw a pin-up in the WW2 RAF airplane-style. Before I knew it, I was trying to make said pin-up for Red to use in his assault tank (assuming he has one). And when I finally stepped back from the computer Red had a sort of James-Bondish title\movie cover, with a title included.

Yes, I definitely once again have too much time in my hands...

  8. My fellow COH players, I, a total zero at PVP come to you with a request of aid. I'm slightly noobish, and being a fan more of RP than of PVP, I know very little of the matter, although I have some grasp of strategy, after getting soundly trounced in the PVP areas.

Now, for RP-related (and some OOC too) reasons, I have a grudge match with the leader of my SG. Make no mistake, she defeated me in the past (Scrapper versus Blaster) and last night my team kicked her team's [censored] soundly. Being a fire-fire blaster designed for mob-handling in PVE, I know I have no chance in hell of fighting her off. So, I decided to level the playing ground and start to speed grown my own little PVP toon. Since I have to keep within RP theme, I decided to go for a LongSword\Regen.

And so I come to you, with requests of help and advice, so she can function as good as possible on one-on-one, versus another scrapper (she has two representations of the same character - one Claws\Inv\Dark and another MA\Inv).

I have more or less an idea of the powers I should get but I am an unfortunate newb where IO sets are concerned and I would like to hear your opinion about them. I'm fairly sure our grudge match will happen not at level 50 but around level 38\40, and I'd appreciate any suggestions for pool powers, slotting, IOs and unexpected strategies more experience PVPers might have.

From fighting her on other occasions, she likes to set the match for a 10 minute limit, then achieve a quick victory and spend the rest of the time SuperJumping to avoid confrontation. Whereas I COULD deny her that advantage by forcing the match either to happen in PVP area or demanding it to be by 5 falls, I would rather be able of defeating her in her own terms --- you know, like adding insult to injury.

I thank you in advance for any assistance you'd care to give.
  9. Art piece requested by StoneGiant to act as a wallpaper. Unfortunately, the black background I whipped up was hideous, so I put here the original version.

Done in an attempt to clock myself - penciled, inked and coloured in an afternoon\evening. I saved time by not cleaning the pencils and instead just inking directly on the sketch. Didn't do too bad.

Unfortunately, i can't colour to save my life, so I more or less prefer the colourless version, for some reason.

Here is depicted Anyweth, Fireblaster, gold dragon who can take a humanoid form -- for some reason, she prefers to be elvish than human, go figure. The quote is a gag I once read in a gaming TShirt paroding the famous Tolkien quote "Do not meddle in the affairs of wizards for they are subtle and quick to anger."

  13. After the rather fun and first meet for the Fletched Alliance (despite the flash floods that made the foreigners be trapped in London for a long time) I decided to whip up a wallpaper to celebrate the event.

I tried a few new techniques with computer colouring, and I'm not too displeased with them. All elements were drawn separately and then reassembled -- the background might change, as suggestions are welcome.

    The participants are:

Center - Vicky, aka Ms. Valentino
Top (from left to right): Shadowe, Pix, StoneGiant
    Middle: Akkarin, Veskit
    Bottom: Kitmarch and Kathena

  16. I, being, to quote a friend, "dirty ol' Rper" (no double entendres, please) tend to obsess a lot about the details of my characters. When I remade HeatBurn, my previously blaster mage as a scrapper, I started thinking about how to transport the whole mage notion into a scrapper build. I mean, she no longer could throw fireballs at the enemy, right? I didn't really want to go for the "she has a magic sword\artefact\whatever"

One of the things that had me wondering was Focused Accuracy, which while sounds cool for characters who have martial arts backgrounds, it didn't match much the idea of a mage... and this whole "sight beyond sight" thing (which comes from the old Thundercats show) popped to mind -- as well as using this Runes\Ritual Markings thing to explain the sudden earned accuracy\perception bonus that comes with using this power.

Drawn in a few hours, using mainly 2B and 4B pencil.I should get off my lazy behind and go on to colour it, although I like the leather effect in pencil and the thought of inking it makes me squirmish, since my inking skills are less than ideal. And colouring straight on heavy pencils is always a complication.

The position of the left arm was a pain to draw, and for that I had to enroll the less than willing cooperation of my brother to pose, who remarked that I should call this drawing "Doh, I forgot my shirt!".

Obviously, I told him to go to hell.

    Look at da pruddy picture!
  17. I have a character attending PU - Croatoa campus, namely, and the juggling of studying and saving the world in a regular basis is one of her troubles, so yes, I'd love to join this RP if indeed it goes off.
  18. It took me a while to decide where I should start this thread (since I noticed we were sorely lacking in one), and I wound up deciding to make it on RP section because most of the fun quotes come out of RP -- you know, those little moments of literary brilliancy that just BEG to be preserved for posterity. However, and by all means include OOC quotes or even NPC quotes.

    I'll start:

IC (Lady Skorpio and Oldest One (Babilonic Demon Queen) both villainous mercenaries in the same VG -- as Oldest One logs in)

OLDEST: "Bow down before your Queen!"
SKORPIO: "Sorry, my lady, we're all equals here. There will be no bowing or scrapping at the moment... unless you pay me for it."
    OLDEST: "Hmmmm, how much?"
SKORPIO: "Make it a round 1000 dollars and I'll bow to you whenever you arrive."
OLDEST: "Make it 900 and you get to sneer while you do it."

So, faceplant would be an understantement of the massacre that happened to my poor character.

    The Bitter Road

A little trip with Tarot undertones to the background of Victoria Valentino, mage, warrior and fool.

((And I apologize for any obscene typos or grammar assassination)))

Chapter 1: Victoria - The Magician

"The Magician is a person with many talents. As an alchemist and transformer, he epitomizes the ability to translate ideas into action. It represents possession of power and influence, cunning and diplomacy. It can also represent trickery or a sly person waiting to play others.
Reversed, it represents too much communication, someone too intellectual, manipulative and insecure. It can represent too the use of one’s skills for destructive ends, as well as deception or power used for evil causes."
    - The Big Book of Tarot

“Can a magician kill a man by magic?” Lord Wellington asked Strange.
Strange frowned. He seemed to dislike the question. “I suppose a magician might,” he admitted, “but a gentleman never could.”’

    - "Stephen Strange & Mr. Norrel", by Susan Clarke

"Knowledge is power. Power corrupts. Study hard -- be evil."
    - Victoria Valentino, Apprentice

Victoria twirled the rectangular piece of card in her hands, thoughtfully. She flipped the card up and studied the old bright colours and the scene it depicted: a man holding a wand, while pointing at the ground. The Magician. Touching both heaven and earth at the same time -- which was a pretty accurate definition of her status as a mage.

That card had been the first gift her mentor had given her upon their first meeting, before she even knew she would study under him. It was supposed to represent her and the journey in front of her... whatever that meant. With a sigh, she put it back in the small box that contained all the things that were important to her. She was a firm believer in owning as little property as possible:

"Own too many things and soon they start owning you."

She smiled to herself as she remembered the words of her mentor and looked around. There were happy shouts from down the hall, sounds of rushing feet, and cries of joy as the other girls of the Private School of Santa Clara greeted their last day at boarding school and welcomed family, relatives and friends that came to pick them up. A soft smile came to Victoria's lips: she had nobody to come and pick her up, but she didn't mind -- she enjoyed the tranquility and also it was a good reminder of what she was. That she was different.

From what she knew, there were many magic users or magic-empowered beings in Paragon where she was being sent to. None was like her. And even if her entire Coven, or even if all the Covens in Italy traveled to the city with her, she would still be as alone and different. Each Mage walks a path that they must walk alone.

    Always alone.

She was sitting on the small traveling case that contained a few of her clothings, her many notebooks, and with a soft sigh, she shut the lid of the box. Only a few outfits would leave with her, the rest of her clothings had been given to charity, as well as all books she had purchased during that year. She would only keep her grimmoires. Her grimmoires and the two first books she had owned: the adventures of Alice in Wonderland and Through the Looking Glass. She opened opened one of the books at random and read:

`"But I don't want to go among mad people,' Alice remarked.
`Oh, you can't help that,' said the Cat: `we're all mad here. I'm mad. You're mad.'
`How do you know I'm mad?' said Alice.
`You must be,' said the Cat, `or you wouldn't have come here.'"

She shut the book and chuckled. How very appropriate. She shoved the book into her laptop bag and stood up. Time for her to go. This step of her life was over and it was time for her to give the next step. Her plane would leave in less than a week, Paragon bond, college at Croatoa U would start in Salamanca in less than a month, and a lot of new adventures awaited her.

The Magician. The card came to her mind once again, and she remembered another meaning associated to it: fortuitous encounters. Maybe she'd find friends in that city of heroes -- and friends did make all the difference. Yes, she might need to walk alone the path she was walking... but that didn't mean that she couldn't have good company walking with her along the sides of the bitter road.
  23. It's hard not to be repetitive of the many things already said here, but I'll try to throw my two cents.

First of all, being a RPer is not like martial arts. You don't earn belts because you've been doing it for long and were tested on it.

The title "veteran" is usually awarded to people who are experienced in RPing, most of the times in many media, and for that reason, they have seen and done many mistakes, and have learned from them.

Not all Veteran RPers are good RPers, but many are, because let's face it, if you suck at something but you keep doing it, you're bound to improve. Otherwise, you'll probably just give up on it.

How do you earn your "Veteran Title". Simple, you don't. Others give it to you by recognizing your worth. I've seen players who RPed for years be dismissed regularly as whiny gits, whose characters are dramallamas and aren't happy unless they're angsting about being injured, brainwashed, tortured, etc. And I've seen players being designated as "Veteran" and "Experienced" although they only had a few months of RP under their belts.

Hence, what I see as Veteran doesn't necessarily match what other people see as Veteran.

If I was asked, I'd say, yes, I'm a veteran Rper. I've been Tabletop Rping for 10 years, and I've Rped by Forum, by mail, by MSN, by AIM and also (believe it or not) by Introduction to Literature Notebook. I own about 500 RP supplements and I played with multiple settings, as well as being a GameMaster in many games, including one campaign that lasted one year.

    Impressive resumé, isn't it?

I quickly realised that I couldn't impose my view of "Veteran" on others -- people calling themselves "Veteran" Rpers (such as the leader of one RP SG on US servers) turned out to be people that had never Rped outside COH, and only had been RPing since the game had started. So, I sorta started disregarding the "Veteran\Newb" title, because I also found out that people who by my standards would be called "Newb RPers", were actually rather good at RPing and that was more than enough for me.

Now, the big question is: when do I know I'm no longer an unexperienced RPer?

You really don't. It's something that comes slowly, and RPing is not a static activity. Even the greatest veterans learn a new trick every now and then (it was hell for me to actually learn how to RP in the superhero Genre), and you never really stop learning and evolving. There might come a point where you feel confortable enough with your style and abilities that mistakes won't look as earth-shattering as they do when you first started RPing (which is often a problem with starting RPers) and you will also probably earn a measure of confidence that will allow you to engage in new situations without much forthought.
  24. I seem to be on a roll today.

Anyway, a little teaming Homage. But since I'm a lazy git, instead of actually drawing something PROPER, I went for chibis, because, let's face it, they're easy to do and you don't have to bother about proportions - BONUS!

Clockwise from back: StoneGiant, Shadowe, HeatBurn and Arrow Striver

    Bring On The CHIBIS!

    Enjoy!
