Quote:Well I won't dispute that I have disdain for how this game was managed. It isn't like I made a secret of the fact. I also really hated seeing people lead on by their hopes. I have always felt that was a very horrible form of manipulation. Why do people think you're hating?
Terminology used by you in two quick examples in this thread alone:
- "CoH is like a rotten tooth that NCsoft has pulled for me."
- "What I value most in any business is honesty and reliability CoH never had either."
Both, at best, are pejorative statements meant to evoke an emotional response. While you may attempt to present yourself in a "neutral" manner, the wording you've used in those two examples alone shows a fairly high level of disdain for the developers and how they managed the game. ( That even extends to several forum posters that you have disagreed with on various levels. )
By using such language it shows that deep down, you're not really using a "form of basic observations and enumeration of incidents involving the developers and their behavior." You're just trying to hide behind a false wall of "neutrality".
But I liked playing the game. It was a recreation I could share with my wife and something we could still do that both of us enjoyed. We had even divided what we did with our toons. It reminded us of when we were first starting out so many years ago.
What killed me, was simply put the game got to be like eating ice cream when you had a rotting tooth. You might love the ice cream but you never knew when a spoonful was going to leave you writhing in agony.
The "FIX" for blasters was a perfect recent example. After 8 fricking years finally blasters were getting improved. IMPROVED MY Fing aunt Fanny. No No moving blaster's stats up a little so they are in line with all the other ATs is too simple. The devs have to show how brilliant they are and DESTROY EVERYONE'S concept for their blaster.
Hats off. -
You can ?
How did that work with the loyalty program badges or the badges you could only get by being incarnate ?
Edit: The Really hard way, always looked like a scheme to see if they could leach more out of people that were paying. That looked like it needed every storebought insp you could carry, and amplifiers and anything else you could use. -

Quote:The irony of people complaining about other games objectifying women or hypersexualizing the medium is at best hypocritical. They went with the comicbook hour glass figure. And max slider made to look normal? Last I saw of a max waist slider, the character looked like they were a little overweight (unless you're calling that the normal). Sooo, being skinny isn't normal?
Though women "only getting" was never true. Yes, they didn't get certain coats and vests (which WAS suckie) but only the gunslinger pack was kinda meh. Witch set had non revealing option, the fact that people always focused on it having a revealing option made me realize the devs couldn't win either way. Players were going to ***** to *****.
CoH's walk is much better than CO's.
Interrestingly enough, for all the complaints onthe forums about not getting certain costume options, when made available, I hardly saw anyone use them, while people still used the ones people complained about on the forums.
Maybe the devs knew the player base better than the forum users, after all.
Not like CoH didn't do its bit. The truly strange thing is every time people complain about the sex in blade and soul, it just makes me more curious about a game I wouldn't have given a second look. -

For 8 years these people have been shutting down any dissent on the forums. Now they can't. Surprise the people that liked the game but really didn't like how it had evolved are having their say.
I am sure they will go back to their campaign of getting other people's games shut down, all the while complaining anyone who disagrees with them is a hater.

Quote:I don't know why people think I am hating.Another_Fan:
What I 'm confused about is,since you are obviously not happy with the game, why continue to spend time here hating it? I get being over it and all, but I would think you would have moved on by now. You are hyper critical of Titan and the efforts to save the game. I almost understand that, but it sounds like a personal vendetta in the posts you have made.
BTW, I am actually glad you LOL'd there. I was startimg to worry about you popping a vein..
Most of what I post is in the form of basic observations and enumeration of incidents involving the developers and their behavior.
Admittedly the titan identifying folk seem to live off of misconstruing things.
Case in point,I provide examples of the most hateful person ever on earth was not uniform or consistent in his hatred, so you can hardly expect less hateful people to show greater consistency or hatred, becomes "So you are calling the titans Nazis" -

Quote:LOL.A_F hates anyone who likes the game because the devs didn't change it in the way he/she wanted in particular. I seriously hate using this term, but the only way I can describe it is "butthurt."
The Titan community on the other hand is practically a cheerleading squad for the game. (Not that that's necessarily a bad thing in and of itself, but they can be pretty extreme from time to time.)
Therefore, A_F hates the Titan community--and especially Golden Girl--more than anything. Heck, A_F and GG are pretty much antitheses of one another: unapologetically negative and unrealistically positive.
There are only a few guiding principles that I saw being violated that I felt were bad for the game.
1. You can't treat your customers badly because this is a game.
2. You have to respect the fact that people put enormous amounts of effort into their characters. If you violate that they will be very mad.
3. You have to respect any part of the game that people put enormous amounts of effort into.
4. You can't fundamentally change a game and expect people to stay around.
5. If you don't address your customers needs they will find someone who will.
Now, if you had a build dependent on hami-Os, Blessing of the zephyr pieces, were an energy melee user, a soloist looking forward to the incarnate system, a pvper, a base builder, a build meister that worked for exemplar friendly builds, someone who bought IOs from the cash store, a badger who got the AE badges, A badger that was permanently cut off from completion, a badger that was on a smaller population server, etc etc etc, you manage to be on the wrong side of those principles being violated.
As to hate ? Really I am feeling pretty good. The wife has a new game and CoH is like a rotten tooth that NCsoft has pulled for me. -
Quote:Lets put it this way, even if the SaveCOH people *do* get their wish, one or two of them have said that they will never stop attacking NCsoft.
If this does happen, then in my mind, anything that the Titan Network and SaveCOH touches will forever be tainted with the touch of angry vindictive people, who even if they win will still spit on people who shared a different point of view in the past.
Just my own opinion, but hey, if some of their members are not willing to let things go even if they do win the end... then i would like nothing better for the whole titan network to be taken down and destroyed, and anything affiliated with it.
Funny the angry vindictive part is what I like about them. Why the hell should you be nice to people you feel have shat upon you ? At the very least it should be a real nice stress relief for them. I can't say how pleasant it has been to vent more strongly here than I have in the past. Really these boards long needed an enema, and most of the posters needed to write a "Reality Check".
I don't even want them to fail, it would be nice to see them beat the odds. I just feel they have stacked the deck against themselves before they even start, and for the most part are living in fantasy instead of just visiting the way we all did. -
Quote:It was never the game that was "Great"While this game was far from perfect, I still enjoyed playing this game, more then other games that were/are out there. If you've found a new game that you enjoy, have at it. If I'd been as "unhappy" as you seem to have been with this game, and it's developers, I would have moved on along time ago. I play/played this game for the entertainment value, and for the friends I made along the way.
As the saying goes, the one thing in life that's constant is change. While I'm sad to see it go and will miss playing it, the closing of the game is just another change.
It was the in game community most of which was not represented here. -
Quote:I don't know about happy but so far I am pleasantly pleased.Well, I hope your as miserable as you were here..er, I mean, "as happy" as you were here, wherever you go.
You might not want to read on because while this is nothing but bare facts they might upset.
Recently a game I am playing released a new issue. This is their 4th they do content updates once a month. There were bugs in the PvP instead of just letting them sit, there were devs looking at the problem and implementing fixes that went in the next day.
When those fixes weren't quite right they took steps to further minimize the problems.
The similar situation here was wait awhile and tell the players how important PvP was to the developers.
It was quite pleasing to see the contrast. -
Good chat system.
Initially very little charcter/account binding for items that was destroyed as time went on.
Initially very nice movement that was taken out. But it still had better movement than other games. -

That was the other thing the Titan Crew has been really good at. Getting people to leave the game over the years. Not surprising nothing changes till the end.
-
Quote:It isn't a complaint it is an observation. It ties in with the observation that for the past 8 years the greatest skill they have exhibited anywhere has been making excuses about why things haven't been done.Perhaps you should lodge your complaints with the Titan network over at their forum, this is the CoH site.
Personally if I were to get behind or otherwise help, lookforward to or pre purchase, I would want to see people whose great skill was producing the item, not the manufacture of excuses. -

Quote:Going to other games. Really 8 years of undelivered promises is quite enough, this time around, I think I'll try finding devs who can walk the walk as well as talk the talk.Where is everyone going for any news on...anything City of? Future projects from the devs, rumors of NCSoft selling the IP, etc?

Quote:Oh that is pretty easy. Can someone please tell me how we got from giving up, To ponies, To religion, to more ponies, to more religion (or lack thereof?)
There are a few people cough* Tim the Enchanter* cough * Anyone who identifies with the titan people* cough , who didn't like the conclusions this thread was drawing so they decided to do anything they could stop discussion of why the game died, and why the Titan efforts were a misguided pipe dream.
They couldn't counter the points being made so they trotted out the most inflamatory stuff they could find all the while calling other people Trolls. -
In addition the Titan Crew have already failed the test before they even get going.

Well I guess that is may not be you, the Golden Girl over there at Titan, on the Executive Committee?
And according to Sergev, another executive committee member, this committee (quoted)
-Our Executive Committee is formed of those who've already taken lead roles in directing our conversations, building our design and world documents, and keeping us pointed forward.-
Sounds like a pretty important job there. -
Don't care
What I value most in any business is honesty and reliability CoH never had either. -
You get to be the Titan Network's Ernst Hess

Or Emil Maurice

Yes and have fun calling godwin. It hardly negates the rabid hate happening over there. -

Quote:So in other words you were trying to split hairs so people could remain comfortable slandering NCsoft.I was not commenting on the court documents or the specific case, but the point that "Losing a civil lawsuit doesn't make you guilty of fraud." (and technically you can be guilty of civil fraud without being guilty of criminal fraud, although I doubt that's the legalese speak for it.)
I think I noted twice in that post that I don't know enough about the case. I have read in various places that they took his community letter as a form of resignation, though, and that his lawsuit was over lost money due to having to execute or sell stock at a lower price than he otherwise would.
My list above is not a comment but taken from what is evaluated for US to consider if something is fraud and, with the bit I know of the case, see if it would have fit. If I'm wrong enough to make those things dont fit (under US law) then feel free to correct me.
You know I don't like NCsoft either I just don't feel the need to lie about why
