Glad to have had ya part of the Guardian and CoH family for these many years and that it'd become a positive impact to help ya in other parts of your life. If paths don't cross in other games in the future at least the memories here have been good ones

Slag Heap: Why you hurt Guardian!? Guardian no hurt you!
As the sun prepares to set tomorrow, I wanted to say one more thank you to all I have met in the last 5 years.
You have all made me feel welcome. When I was having a bad day or few, you all made it so much better with all of your antics on Level 50 and Guardian channels. No matter how bad life was treating me, you found ways to make me smile, and sometimes even laugh. I was always one of the quiet few, but y'all's open camaraderie made it easy to cross the internal barrier and actually open up sometimes. All your "goodbyes" are making me cry (not an easy thing to do, mind you), and that's actually a good thing.
I refuse to say "goodbye". NCSoft may be killing the game, but they cannot kill our community. As long as we stay in touch, the community will live on. Feel free to find me on FB (I'm in the Guardian Server Group) or Twitter. I have tried out some of the other MMOs, but I have been severely underwhelmed. I do not anticipate playing in any other game, at least in the immediate future; perhaps that will change in a few months when the sting of this wears down.

5 years ago next week, a friend of mine convinced me to try CoX. He told me that I would like it, despite having not liked many other games that he had tried to introduce me to (we just have different tastes). I gave him the benefit of the doubt, thinking that he can't be wrong EVERY time...
I have been playing on Guardian ever since. One of the biggest benefits to me of this game has been the community that I discovered here. As a person with substantial social anxiety, going out and making friends, no matter how similar we are, has always been very difficult. I was able to get past some of my anxiety, mostly due to the fact that I was visually anonymous, and could therefore let my guard down and be myself without the feeling that I am being judged by someone across the room. I was able to come out of my shell a bit, and actually engage in the discussions, and most importantly, HAVE FUN. After a couple years, I was able to translate this to actually going out and meeting new people in person at one of the local game shops. The fact that I was able to do this and didn't want to immediately run for the hills was a big accomplishment for me, and I have all of you here on guardian to thank for that. I am now reasonably functional when I walk into a room of people that I don't know, and this translates into a lower stress level as a whole.
With the impending closure of CoX (I haven't given up hope, but the future is looking mighty dim), I wanted to let you all know how much you have meant to me over the last 5 years. From the night that I first joined the Level 50 channel after running an STF with Misty, I have always felt welcome, no matter what channel I was reading.
Thank you all, from the bottom of my heart, for 5 wonderful years. If we can't save CoX, I hope to play with you all again soon, and for many years to come.
