Nothing in my 3+ decades of gaming has captured my attention or given me as much enjoyment as playing the Dominator. (I'm not going to any answer questions about age.) Dev team, if you ever read this, thank you from the bottom of my heart. COH is a special game and for me dominators were the shining star.
Nothing rewards you quite like a dominator. When you were in the zone you were truely invulnerable. And not only that, your team was protected as well. True it was the hardest AT to play, especially in the early days, but nothing could compare to the highs you got from excelling with a good dom build. I hung out with a fire/thermal back in the day and his one quote summed it up the best "When you are around I almost never have to heal anyone".
Do you remember when Lord Recluse's strike force came out? I was on the 2nd and 3rd all dom teams that failed (maybe 1st and 2nd, I don't really recall anymore). But what I know for a fact: I was lead the first one that succeeded. Too bad it was after the lvl54->53 nerf. I remember proving with screenshots that you could beat the dreaded PTOD - it took three of us at the time. I remember when Shrike (or sherk or shreak or whateve his name was) first noticed perma-dom. I remember single handedly beating the PTOD after IOs came out. Those were the days. (Does anyone remember Bekkar's Triangles?) We've come a long way since then but this AT has been fun for me the entire time.
