I know everyone is upset over what has happened/is happening, but I'd like everyone to take a moment to see things as I see them.

NCsoft can NOT kill your characters, they can NOT kill Paragon city, they can NOT kill this world. Sure they can shut down servers but those are just machines that store data.

CoH lives within US! The players, the devs, and anyone who has helped to create and shape this world as we know it today. Every character, every story, every building came from within someones imagination, and it will live there forever. Your heroes will continue to fight the good fight, your villains will continue to hatch evil plans, and those in the grey areas will continue to fight their own inner demons. We might not be able to play this game much longer, but that doesn't mean our characters die. (unless we want them to of course)

Here is my proof.

The story of Jathrek.

Who is Jathrek? Allow me to explain. Jathrek is from Felucca where him and his older brother Vertigo were born. Vertigo was a master smith and swordsman. He was a man who relied on his forge and his own two hands to guide him though life. Jathrek, always in his brothers shadow, turn to the mystic arts to make a name for himself. He only wished to prove himself equal to his brother. The two lived together in a small town near their adopted mother Sarai. Life was good, but all good things must come to an end.

Jathrek had become a force with magic that rivaled any sword or shield his brother could create, but he didn't stop there. Jath had begun experimenting with portal magic, but accidentally conjured a portal on a cracked rune. This would have long standing repercussions Jath would not fully understand until many years later. The immediate Consequences were MUCH more obvious. Jathrek stepped though the portal he had created, but it did not lead him home, or to town, not even to the furthest reaches of the land he called home. It lead to Dereth.

When Jath stepped from the portal he found himself in an unknown land. Not seconds later he heard a howl that would change his life forever. A tri-pedal monster he had never seen before rushed towards him at remarkable speed. Corp Por! Jath shouted without hesitation. An incantation he used all too commonly in his homeland as a means to slay attackers, but not here. Nothing happened, not even the smallest spark. He tried again, he tried different spells, anything he could think of. All of it failed. As the monsters teeth sank into his side, he felt a power wash over him. When he woke up, he was laying face up in front of a rotating blue gemstone of sorts. Jath threw down his bag of useless reagents and headed into a town he saw nearby. He needed answers. Where was he? What happened? And of course, what the heck has 3 legs and teeth....

The first thing Jathrek noticed on the way into town was a small building with a forge. After a long chat with the local smith he realized just how bad his situation was. The town was called Rithwic, in the land of Dereth, and everything he knew was gone. His magic, his house, his world, and most importantly, his family. The creature that had attacked him was called a reedshark, and it was one of the smallest threats he would face in this new land. The smithy told him of a mage nearby that could explain things better, but the magic of this world was completely different. Jathrek now knew why his brother chose that path he did. The ability to wield a blade never fades, a shield never dissipates, and physical training never fails. Jath forsake the mystic arts forever and picked up a smiths hammer. He would live in this land for many years to come, guided by his forge, his sword, and his own 2 hands.

But the story doesn't end there, it goes on even today. The cracked portal continues to randomly jump Jathrek to different worlds at a moments notice. He has had many friends in many places, and he's done many things. He has defended the town of Lin in Dareth, flown a ship in the name of human kind against the Vrix, wandered the lands of Azeroth, and of course used his skills to defeat countless villains in Paragon city. He feels the portals power growing once more, he knows his time here is limited. But where will he end up? What will he do next? Stay tuned loyal followers, for this story has just begun.

The experiences you have, and the people you meet are all that really matters in the end. Thank you to Sarai, Siegen, Alma, and all the others who have made these worlds worth living in. Thanks also to the devs who make these places for our imaginations to grow. I know the CoH dev team has always been dedicated to the reality of a dream, not the fictional stability of money. I hope you all find a new place to call home, and maybe, just maybe, that portal will take Jathrek there one day.

Signed, Jathrek. aka: Catastrophic Error, The Angry LiL Pyro, The Nightmare Wyvern, Nether Rain, Smash N' Grab, Eternal Cloud, Goodnight Kiss, and many others.
