A Sincere Thank-You To All

I'm not incredibly active on the forums, and most of you have probably never even heard of me, but I've been playing on Liberty since the end of 2005. I was only 12 when I started playing CoH, so I can really say that I've grown up with this game. I've actually surprised myself at how emotional I'm feeling about today's news; it feels like a part of my childhood is disappearing, and in a way, it sort of is.

As much fun as I've had with the game's content, nothing compares to the community here. Just a warning: this is about to get personal. As I said, I spent pretty much all of my teen years on CoH. Up until this past year, when I got to college, I had been very shy and awkward. But in CoH, probably because of the anonymity behind the screen, I'd found that I had been much more able to socialize and communicate and make wonderful friends. In short, the in-game community was an incredible support system for getting through those tough teen years. You could say that I almost leaned on this game as too much of a support system and maybe spent a little too much time around here, but it helped me out so much mentally. I actually came out of the closet to my in-game friends before quite a few of my real life friends, which may seem...strange, but having the opportunity to use this sort of auxiliary community to become more comfortable with myself was a massive benefit.

Anyway, I really just want to thank everyone for putting together this community because that's what this game really had going for itself; the people. I really can't put into words the way I feel this game and the whole community effected my life. 7 years is about half of my life that I can actually remember; it's pretty crazy.
