That said, you do want to get it to actively download rather than download in the background. Go back to or restart the launcher, right click on City of Heroes and select Update or Repair, not sure exactly what it says for a new install. It should then start updating faster.

And when you do that, don't launch the game. Let the launcher do its thing on its own. The launcher downloads a bunch faster than the backgrounder, since the launcher uses the Akamai distributed download network and the backgrounder does not.

I created my first villain today, now i am sitting in the character screen and waiting since 30 minutes that "Stage 2" loads, i cannot enter the game.
