Ma/shield build help

EJI

Posted

So I've been tinkering around with this build and I have it to a point where the three positional defenses are soft capped. But I'm concerned that I will be having end problems with this build. I was wondering if could get some pointers as to how to make this build better. I am accepting any advice but my main focuses will be:

- Endurance

- Price

- Recharge

Any advice that can be given is appreciated. Thank you in advance

Edit: Also this is my first shield toon, so if you know any intricacies of the set please let me know.

Couple quick comments at a glance, as I don't have much time-

Cobra Strike is an attack. Slot it for damage.
Active Defense is your mez protection. Take it as soon as it's available.

I put a full set of mako's bite on cobra strike to keep the ranged defense at the same level, and this is not a leveling up build so taking active defense then won't matter it was just to save room for slotting. Thank you for the inupt, i'm sure my damage output will thank you.

Here's an alternate take if you're REALLY worried about endurance (which, at roughly 3x your resting endurance, with Cardiac, you shouldn't be).

Higher general enhanced accuracy among your attacks. (62.9 vs 55.4)
Huge +Acc from set bonuses (+28%). So very little wasted end from misses, even against +Level opponents. And if that's a problem, pop Focus Chi first.
Focus Chi now grants 71.5% +ToHit (vs 25%).
Higher enhanced recharge on AoEs.
Higher global recharge.
All defenses 46.x%
Higher resists.
Marignally higher recovery.
Higher Max Endurance.
Marginally higher regen.
More HP.
Some slow resist.

Fire Blast suffers a bit. Boxing and Char are gutted. But they were only set bonus mules anyhow.

Granted, the build is recockulously expensive compared to yours. But this build has a far, FAR better survivability and a better overall performance profile.

Note: The powers were just slapped in there in a random order. Some build planning is important.

And if you're doing iTrials YES, the fact that you took Grant Cover and Active Defense so late IS something you need to rectify. Quills of Jocas on the Magi can whack you down to level 50-3 (not Fifty PLUS three, Fifty MINUS three). At which point Grant Cover turns off, reducing your benefit to the league. Just be glad you didn't put AD for your level 49 power choice.

"Wow! It shut off! I'm mezzed! Howsabout dat?"

Honestly, I' drop something like Super Jump into your L49 power choice. Then drop Hasten in at L47. This way, if either or get shut off by a QOJ hit in a trial like Magi, it won't really affect you much

I appreciate the feedback, and I will rearrange the powers to better fit your suggestions. However there is no way that I will be able to afford that build.

Given a little time on the market, you'd be surprised.

1 billion inf is REALLY not hard to come by with a little effort.
And by little, I mean "turning a computer on is HARD" levels of effort.

Most of the build is more or less identical to what you already had.
You'll save a little by going with the Crushing Impacts instead of all the Makos and ToDs.

The two "biggie" expenses are the PVP IOs. This can be one of those times enhancement converters and/or Alignment Merits can be your friend. If you have a large backlog of Reward Merits, you can convert them into AMs to speed up your progress. You could also try to acquire a PVP IO (of any sort) on the cheap. Then use converters to change it into the desired type.

I will definitely keep your build for the long run and use something cheaper to get me there.

Would it be beneficial to change from pyre mastery and go with body mastery for physical perfection. I could take laser beam eyes and slot it with thunderstrikes to keep my defenses softcapped and it would give me better recovery and the option of having conserving power as well.

It'd wind up a bit lower damage output overall and your recharge wouldn't be quite so spiffy. But that could work too.
