I'v been working on a build for a while, and now that I've finished it, I thought I'd post it here for the other forumites to look at and provide comments/constructive criticism. It's a Wolf Spider build, and I've tried to incorporate some procs int some of my attacks.

Cringe worthy.

Looking at the build, I have no idea what the goals were.

It's as if you went for full sets for no other reason than to have full sets that look nice due to all the pretty matching graphics.
It appears you don't understand the bugs and oddities of mids and some of the various procs and powers.
You have neither perma pets, nor soft-cap defense, not even soft-cap defense to range. These are the most common build goals.

If you plan on using and leveraging melee radial, you need not only soft-cap ranged, you'll want near softcap to either all vectors or all types. 32.5 vs all vectors would be a good minimum plan

Clarion isn't really needed for a Veat, at the very least take the Bane Armor.

I see no reason to NOT take bane armor for the better status protection, I'm not sure why You limited yourself to only the basic wolf only powers.

Clarion Radial only boosts defense by those large numbers shown in mids for 10 seconds, unless you have non-toggle defense powers. Your powers are toggles, meaning radial is much less useful for you, if useful to you at all. Radial is useful for non-toggle defense powers like far sight and mind link, but those are the exception to the rule.

Force Feedback +recharge proc, the numbers in mids only last for a few seconds. It's best to figure those by hand and not have mids include them in your recharge numbers.

Guassains Proc, again, the numbers in mids only last for a few seconds. It's best to figure these by hand, or toggle them on or off when looking at specific values rather than leaving them on all the time and giving you a false impression of their power.

I don't see a Numina, nor Miracle Unique, nor proper endurance management.

I don't see any form of HP replacement, although many people would also consider that optional. You can't really use Hybrid melee for this, unless you up your overall base defense numbers. Hybrids are not perma, they are 120 on 120 off, you'll need another way to manage defense and hp replacement during the off time.

Void Radial T4 Judgement could be used as a pseudo T9 power as an option.

Cimmies Core has significantly more ST damage, Lights Core has more AoE. Arachnos is thematic.

Frag without an immobilize can be counter productive

There are a number of things here that I would change, but the major, giant question I must ask is... why not take any of the excellent powers in the Bane or Crab sets? I can see not wanting a non-functional set of Crab arms if you want to use only SMG attacks, but the Bane set has really useful and powerful abilities that don't make you any less Wolf-Spidery. Bane Spider Armor Upgrade is hands-down superior to Wolf Spider Armor. And what's wrong with Build Up? Or Surveillance?


Other than that, I would start by looking at your attack chain, since this is going to dictate how the character actually plays.

The two most powerful and useful attacks in a Huntsman's arsenal are Venom Grenade and Heavy Burst. I would slot them both like real attacks. These are the powers worthy of slotting with Dominion of Arachnos or Ragnarok.

If you want Frag Grenade in your attack chain, knockback is an unfortunate side-effect of the attack, not something you want to encourage. Plastering a few of your opponents to the distant walls of the room with random knockback is not helpful. It's not even particularly good crowd control. Slot it with Positron's Blast.

Mace Blast? It's not a bad attack, but it causes redraw between the mace and SMG and you should not need it. Single Shot is very fast and can fill the gaps in your main attack chain of AoEs, assuming you have reasonable recharge. You need a prerequisite attack in order to get Shatter Armor and Summon Blaster, but don't slot it if you really won't make it a part of your attack chain.

If you do feel the need for crowd control, why not take Wide Area Web Grenade? It uses the SMG and will even take a purple set.

Melee attacks. You've got six-slotted Pummel and Bayonet, which seems to imply that you want to melee with your SMG. But you've also got six-slotted Shatter Armor, which is a good attack but it causes mace/SMG redraw as you switch back and forth. And then you've got Flurry and Boxing slotted. You've even got a proc in Brawl.
The best melee attacks available to you are mace attacks. Crowd Control is excellent. Shatter Armor is great for beating down single hard targets. Shatter hits like a ton of bricks. If you had Placate you could even do Executioner's Strikes. If you're okay with drawing the mace for melee, then go all mace for your melee attacks. If you hate redraw, stick with just Pummel and Bayonet.

Okay, I took into account what you guys said and tried to slot more strategically, going for a fair number of Procs and trying to hit closer to softcaps on my defensive powers. As you can see, I mostly gave up my SMG from the base set in favor of a Mace-Centric attack chain. I can't really say if this build is much better, but it certainly seems less schizoid.

Everyone is new at building at one time, here are some tips:

Have a clear primary goal in mind when you are building. Common build goals for set bonuses are defense, recharge, +dam, +hp. Once you determine what you wish to do focus on achieving that goal first before splashing into secondary build goals.

With SOA it's fairly easy to reach the defense softcap so most people make that a primary goal. After that recharge is often the second bonus that people chase after.

Procs - they are fun but don't let them interfere with your build goals, fit them in when it's convenient but don't sacrifice logical slotting that would benefit your build goal just to fit them in.

Below is my bane build. Notice how each of my powers are slotted for a specific type of bonus (defense, recharge). I fit procs in only if I've obtained the bonus I wanted in that power and I slot the powers with enhancements that fit their primary purpose.

Well, it's getting better. I recommend making the next version from scratch because you current file is adding 30% to all of your defenses which should not be there.

The main thing I would do differently is to slot sets for set bonuses instead of frankenslotting three different sets into a power and getting no useful bonus out of any of them. You are missing out on some very good set bonuses, like 2.5% to all positional defenses from Gaussian's Synchronized Fire Control.

Since you have migrated to a melee-oriented mace/stealth build, I'll just post my own Bane's current build. I'm actually going to modify this build when I get a chance to include Pulverize, since the melee attack chain is a little sluggish without Hasten. Still, this is basically my idea of what a fun Executioner-style build looks like. All positional defenses are soft-capped without any PvP IOs or incarnate powers.

Turn off your accolades, turn off all the incarnate stuff, turn off cloaking device. You only managed to softcap ranged defense. Your melee and AoE def are sitting at 31.5, 36ish with cloaking device on, you can do better.

You choose to be more melee oriented yet you slot shatter and crowd control poorly. But somehow you managed to 3 slot super jump and 6 slot web envelope and web cocoon for set bonuses that don't give you any benefit at all. Your end management is questionable and stamina is under-slotted. You have an effective attack chain of 3 attacks that doesn't mature until level 44 and no AoE attacks, you can do better.

Perhaps you think that maximizing your build means getting the most out of your enhancement percentages out of the powers you are slotting. If that's your philosophy, stop and take a look at the bigger picture. Those defense/recharge bonuses from sets maybe small but they stack up to something significant on a finished build.

Re-read my initial post, learn which enhancement sets (and how many pieces of that set) gives you the most bang for the buck for the set bonuses you chase after. I'm not claiming my build to be the definitive bane/hybrid build but as it stands it's head and shoulders better than yours, and I hope you can take it, dissect it, and learn from it so you can make more educated choices the next time you piece something together in mids.
