I23 pegging my CPU to 100%?

Is anyone else having this issue? I never had problems before, but now even on the lowest graphic settings (usually they're set mid to high), and nothing else running, my CPU is pegged at 100% and I'm getting terrible framerates. I22 I would see 20FPS in Atlas or on a trial with much higher graphics settings, but right now it's barely playable on the lowest settings.

I know my CPU is my bottleneck (AMD 64 X2 Dual Core 5200+), but it really shouldn't be this bad.

My computer has a AMD Phenom II 3.5g Dual-Core, 9 gigs of ram, nVidia GeForce GT 240 graphics card, and windows 7 home premium 64 bit and I'm not having any problems at all.

I'm certainly no computer expert but I will try to offer suggestions.

#1. Open NC Soft launcher and in the list on the left, click the tiny arrow on the CoH button, or right click it, and select the Repair (consistency check)

#2. Make sure your graphics drivers are up-to-date

#3. Most likely not the problem: Run a virus/anti-spyware scan

#4. Make sure you don't have any unneeded programs running in the background

#5. Try running windows disk clean-up (if you are using Microsoft Windows). Recently my computer was running a bit sluggish and that helped me a lot.

That's about all I can think of. Hope you can get your problem solved soon. Happy hunting.

Funny enough, (from my observations atleast) this is one of those random Windows things that just kinda happens on rare occasions. I don't know if it's related to a recent OS patch or what, but every now and then I'd get something like this happening with the Game, IE, and a couple other apps. That was when I was running XP primarily, but we never could figure out what caused it. It does seem to "go away" on its own, but it wouldn't hurt to do some system maintenance:

IE:
Flush your temp files;
Do a cold-boot (results in definitely clearing the RAM of garbage);
Defrag the HDD;
etc

If you're wondering if the Game is the issue (considering we Did just have a recent patch), then the consistency checks should help to clear things up some.

Thanks! I figured it out. Apparently Windows decided to install a driver 4 times for 1 thing (Onboard digitial sound). Driver conflict that I never noticed because I don't use the onboard digital sound. Uninstalled them all and now I'm back to seeing a much prettier city!

Very weird that it just started causing issues with the latest patch, though.

Side effect of the randomness of life. :-p
