What is the best Brute for solo play/tf tanking? I want something more spell based not weapon based.

If it's not that bad on funds like 2-3 bil range does anyone have a build for mids with it? One that includes the IOs? I was really hoping to find a good SS/FA or Elec/Elec build. Ty in advance.

Titan Weapons/Dark Armor would most likely be one of "the best" combos in terms of damage and survivability...but there is no clear cut winner for everything. Super Strength/Fire Aura is good for fire farming...but if you want to do "max" damage on a brute, you need to take Titan Weapons and pair it with something that has a damage aura.

But what do you intend this build to do? You say everything...but stuff that is the best at "everything" is likely the Master of none of them, just a good all around fit that is mostly good at "everything".

Energy Melee is a waste of time if you want anything but frustration. Willpower and Energy Aura don't have damage auras...

Have you played a brute to 50 yet? Maybe you should go level one up and come back and tell us what you are looking for in your ub3rl33t brut3 build for everything, that costs around 2-3 bil, and works on about 7 different armor sets...while we wait for you to get to 50, we can try to work up something that is super awesomeness sauce just for you! On a slightly more serious note, there's a search feature on the forum...did you try searching for a build? Should be a number of threads on different builds/pros and cons...etc.

In your OP you've set out two things that are slightly contradictory - solo play and TF tanking. Now, you can do both these things as a Brute and many Brutes do, but to be the 'best' or most optimized at solo play is going to mean taking away from tanking ability and the reverse is also true.

The problem is that in solo play, your primary concern is damage output. You need to survive just slightly longer than the bad guys you're fighting. That's it. That's all. Any further energy put into survivability is likely energy you could be putting into being a better damage output machine, so you won't. You'll invest your slots, Set Bonuses and incarnate powers (if VIP) towards the primary goal of dealing damage.

If you're tanking for a team or league, your priority is almost the exact opposite. Damage is nice, but the primary job you're trying to fill is one of survivability. You're therefore going to make very different choices. Now it's damage that's just 'good enough' and surviving that needs to excel.

One build can be good at both, but can't be 'best' at either. Not at the same time anyway. This is a good use for the second build, though of course designing two high-end builds to cover both ends of the spectrum involves twice the investment. As far as specific powersets, I would go Dark Armor as it's one of the most versatile armor powersets and very amenable to IOs as nearly all its negatives can be minimized or eliminated with good IO slotting. Electric Armor is also a solid choice. As for primaries, Titan Weapons is very hard-hitting. I like Electrical Melee for Lightning Rod. That's just off the cuff though - most primaries and secondaries will work well if slotted carefully.

Brawl/WP. Tank city. Just ask Nemesis when he had 12 GMs in AP that time.

Staff-Kat-BS-Titan / WP - It's good from level 1 to 50, on SOs, Generics, or IOs. It's definitely the way to go as a beginner. All other answers are more complicated than 1 sentence.

SS/FA is going to cost more than 3 billion.

Electric is a good solid armor, and Electric Melee is a good AoE set.
