Brass Canyon Part 1
"Citizens of Steel Canyon! Surrender to Nemesis or be annihilated!"
Gunfire and explosions echoed off the war walls as brass machines and Victorian soldiers marched the pristine streets of Steel Canyon. They poured out from sewer entrances, buildings, and some even erupted from the ground itself as mole machines burrowed up through the concrete. Their attacks were sudden and targeted anything and anyone that stood in their path to dominance.
Nemesis's taunts and demands blared across the airwaves, radiowaves, and from speakers on his machines. The villain wanted no one unaware of his coming.

The sounds of battle nearly drowned out the cries for help from the civilians caught between Paragon's best heroes and Nemesis's toughest troops. They ran terrified, quickly seeking some form of shelter from the war taking place outside. News crews assembled to catch footage of the carnage while the Paragon Police Department deployed en masse to reduce casualties.
A majority of the fighting found itself taking place in front of Blyde Square, where the heroes each gathered and united to force Nemesis from their home. Each side shared powerful attacks with one another in an attempt to gain some ground. Neither side seemed to budge, both evenly matched with nothing yet tipping the scales.
As the battle raged, an older man limped away from the scene, holding a young boy in his arms. He found cover underneath one of the city's skyscrapers, sitting to catch his breath. He looked down at his young son. The boy was in shock and did not speak, his eyes were wide and filled with tears. He was only five and had never seen a conflict like this in his entire life.
The man silently cursed to himself before looking down at his mangled left leg. Bits of brass shrapnel were embedded in his shin. The pain hadn't set in just yet, but he could not continue running away from the chaos. The man desperately called out for any sort of help. He needed to get out of there, to protect his son at any cost. But the deafening noise of the nearby battle seemed to overpower the strength of his lungs, and he could not continue yelling anymore.
Suddenly, a large explosion rang out from above. Large chunks of metal and stone from the building that provided cover rained down and threatened to crush the father and son. The man looked up and caught a glimpse of what was coming their way. He quickly cradled his child, holding him closer to his chest as he huddled over, hoping to shield his son from the impact and protect him.
"This is it...!"
* * * *
A bright blue streak of energy raced at the debris, causing it to explode into a shower of dust and small pebbles, saving the father and his son from certain death. A man with golden skin and hair flew towards the pair, waving the dust away and patting dust off of his black t-shirt and blue jeans. He landed on the ground before them and knelt down, noticing the crying child and the injuries the father had sustained.
"Stay here for only a few more minutes. I'll go get help."
"Al...alright."
The golden man shot high into the sky, surveying the streets with glowing white eyes. He spotted an ambulance and waved his arms frantically, gaining their attention. The vehicle drove towards him before spotting the injured civilians. It screeched to a halt a few yards away, with a paramedic exiting and pushing a stretcher towards the pair. The father handed the paramedic his son as the golden savior descended to the ground once more.
"Thank you for saving our lives, hero. What's your name?" the father asked.
"Trust me, I'm no hero. But you can call me GE." The golden man smiled as he watched the paramedics load the injured father into the ambulance and drive away from the chaos.
"Nemesis, what is your plan. Why are you attacking?" he silently wondered. GE saw no more civilians, and was about to fly higher into the skies to get a better view. He only managed to rise a few feet before he found himself forced into the concrete with a loud thwack from behind.
Lifting himself back onto his feet, the once-hero turned around to be greeted with another strong punch from a massive, metal claw. The attack threw GE back several feet before causing him to skid and scrape across the ground. Slowly rising, GE managed to regain composure before looking up to see what struck him. It was none other than one of Nemesis's most destructive brass abominations, the horrible Warhulk.
"Of course. It had to be the huge, destructive robot that got the jump on me."
